Abstract

This paper aims to describe the strategic management of educators and education personnel at SMK Negeri 9 Samarinda. This study uses qualitative research methods and SWOT analysis. The results of this study indicate that the strategic management of educators and education personnel is carried out based on statutory regulations with the aim of improving the quality of national education, developing science, technology, and art, as well as serving the community. The implementation of the duties and functions of educators and education management consists of six components, namely: (a) planning, (b) recruitment, (c) job placement, (d) compensation, (e) coaching and development, (f) evaluating. The functions and duties of management have implications for schools in facing a shortage of educators and education personnel. Guidance and development are also carried out through individual learning, training and advanced education, whether carried out by working groups of teachers, schools, or the education office.

Abstract

Teacher competence is one of the important substances in the progress and success of the implementation of education. This has implications for teacher performance to measure teacher professional competence in schools. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of teacher professional competence and work discipline on teacher performance. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out using a survey method using a questionnaire that was distributed to 22 teachers of public vocational high schools in Samarinda City. The results of the study show that the correlation coefficient between professional competence and work discipline is 0.636, so it can be said that there is a positive relationship between professional competence and work discipline with teachers. Meanwhile, the coefficient of determination is 0.636, meaning that professional competence affects work discipline by 63.6%. Based on this, it is known that the professional competence of teachers in the high category is 58%, the medium category is 42%, and there is no teacher professional competence in the low category. So, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence between professionalism on teacher performance, teacher professionalism, and work discipline together on teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the empirical picture and analyze how much influence the effectiveness of the principal's leadership has in improving teacher performance from the variables of leading behavior, the efforts made by the principal, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of the effectiveness of the principal's leadership in improving teacher performance in the City of Samarinda and the type of research, is qualitative research with the kind of case study. The data sources for this study were the principal, vice principal, teachers, and administrative staff at SMK Samarinda City-procedures for collecting and recording data using interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. They are checking or checking the validity of the data using a credibility test. The research results obtained are: (1) To improve teacher performance, The principal manages the placement of teaching and educational staff in this school by the certificates owned, and the development of teaching staff in schools is by providing opportunities for teachers to solve learning and non-learning problems professionally through action research in a controlled manner until finally, teacher performance improves, besides that both teaching and educational staff are included in the training to improve performance. (2) Efforts made by the principal to improve teacher performance include supervision and guidance from the principal or deputy principal in the teacher learning process, (3) supporting factors in improving teacher performance are providing facilities to support teacher performance such as laptops and learning devices. In contrast, the inhibiting factors are natural conditions and the ever-changing curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) planning, (2) implementing, (3) evaluating the principal's strategy in learning management during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri Samarinda using a qualitative approach with the case method. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis begins with the stages of data reduction, drawing conclusions and verification, and presenting data. The results of this study indicate that the principal's strategy in planning learning during the Covid-19 pandemic is; designing IT-based learning strategies, preparing facilities and infrastructure, empowering teacher human resources in the IT field, and budget allocation. The school principal's strategy in implementing learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely; communication (in the form of meetings and telecommunications in the Whatsapp Group), lesson plans (in the form of IT-based learning media), and motivation. The principal's strategy in learning evaluation is carried out during the learning process and at the end, followed by monitoring at any time.
