Abstract

Tinder, as one of the most popular online dating applications, is nicknamed as the hookup app. The negative perceptions inherent among the public were born because of how users in western countries operate the application, which does not follow the norms adopted in Indonesia. Many people assume that most Tinder users are those who are not looking for a long-term romantic relationship. The possibility of getting a partner who will commit to the relationship is not a common idea. This research aims to understand the development process of emotional intimacy and the initiation of a close relationship between Tinder users who have managed to find their partner through the Tinder application and communication mediated by computers (internet). This research uses a qualitative approach. In-depth interviews and Netnographic observations were used as the primary and secondary data collection techniques. This study indicates that although many Tinder users in Indonesia use Tinder similar to how people in western countries do, many users have finally succeeded in building long-term close relationships. Therefore, the perception about small numbers of Tinder users looking for long-term romantic relationships is not accurate.

Abstract

Indonesia government taking some actions to break the chain of Covid-19 virus such as Study from Home or online learning that allow teachers and students to study online from their home. The existence of online learning rapidly grows due to the pandemic and changes the way the teachers and the students communicate each other during the class. This research aims to see how the process of instructional communication applied by teacher in doing online learning process in the past few months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology used in doing the research was qualitative and descriptive approach. This research used Post-Positivism as research paradigm. Data collection techniques were deep interview with the teacher and online classroom observation. Referring to the data analysis model about factors to achieve the instructional communication target such as students’ characteristic, teacher’s characteristic, interaction and methods of delivering the messages, physical facility and surrounding environment, the data analysis technique used was qualitative. This research revealed that instructional communication applied in teaching vocational students is verbal and non-verbal communication. In short, there are two points needed to be highlight for the communication between the teacher and the students during online learning process which are teacher character and the variety used of media. The use of media is divided into two sub points which are main media (Google Classroom and Google Meets) and supported media (Power Point, learning material video and Whatsapp group). Teacher used those media in delivery the lessons to the students to support the online learning process.

Abstract

Pada tahun 2017 fenomena imunisasi Measles rubella menarik perhatian publik. Adanya tindakan penolakan dari para orang tua menghasilkan pemberitaan negatif dan mengantarkan Kementerian Kesehatan pada situasi krisis. Public relations merupakan divisi yang berperan untuk melindungi dan mempertahankan reputasi yang dimiliki oleh organisasi melalui tindakan manajemen krisis. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu ingin mengetahui manajemen krisis yang dilakukan oleh public relations Kementerian Kesehatan yang diperdalam dengan menggunakan Situational Crisis Communication Theory. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam serta mengumpulkan dokumen terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen krisis yang dilakukan oleh public relations Kementerian Kesehatan pada tahap pre-krisis adalah kegiatan monitoring media. Saat krisis terjadi respon yang dilakukan tergolong strategi diminish untuk mengurangi dampak negatif dari peristiwa krisis. Beberapa tindakan yang dilakukan yaitu bekerja sama dengan Komite Nasional Pencegahan dan Penanggulangan Kejadian Ikutan Pasca Imunisasi, penyebaran release melalui website, berkomunikasi dengan Pemerintahan daerah, Dinas Kesehatan daerah, serta memanfaatkan media tradisional dan digital. Pada tahap post-krisis dilakukan dialog dengan Majelis Ulama Indonesia untuk melakukan kajian lebih lanjut mengenai kehalalan vaksin. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penanganan krisis terjadi karena perbaikan komunikasi dan kerja sama dengan para stakeholder. Adapun sarannya adalah sebaiknya ketika terjadi perbedaan pemahaman dengan Majelis Ulama Indonesia, public relations Kementerian Kesehatan dapat melakukan komunikasi yang lebih cepat agar masalah segera teratasi.

Abstract

Cross-cultural adaptation process is an ongoing issue for expatriates while working abroad, including Japanese expatriates working in Indonesian companies. This research aims to know the critical point and adaptation process of Japanese expatriates. The research method used was ethnography. Primary data collection techniques were in-depth interviews and observations. This research also included secondary data. Findings revealed that the adaptation process had an important role as it could lead to a comfortable interaction and reduce miscommunication at work. Important factors in the adaptation process were language fluency, work culture adjustment, media uses, daily interaction with Indonesians, interaction among Japanese in Indonesia, and real assistance for expatriates. There were three stages that expatriates had to go through, i.e., preparation, active, and final stage. The critical points in the adaptation process were language skills and willingness to accept changes.

Abstract

In the midst of political and economic sanctions obtained from the United States, Iran had to fight the Covid-19 pandemic which has killed thousands of people in Iran, placing Iran in a chaotic situation due to the initial handling that did not go well. Now President Raisi is taking over the Iranian crisis by issuing new policies related to handling Covid-19 and improving the situation and conditions of people who have lost their trust in the Iranian Government. This research wants to examine the narratives launched by the Government of Iran through the media regarding the policy of dealing with Covid-19. By using the discourse analysis method, this study tries to explore the contents of the narrative and explore what discourse the Iranian government wants to convey to the public.

Abstract

Social media and government websites can be communication tools to encourage participation and interaction between citizens and government institutions. Digital media may lead to citizen trust and citizen engagement toward the government. The purpose of this study is to examine the model of attention to social media, attention to official government websites, perceptions of transparency, public trust, and civic engagement in the Indonesian context. This study used a quantitative approach by conducting a survey (N = 263). Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Square (SEM) is used to assess four hypotheses. This study reveals that Attention to Social Media and Attention to Government Websites moderately explain the influence on Perceived Transparency. Moreover, perceived transparency significantly and strongly influences citizen trust and Citizen Engagement is quite stronger explained by the Citizen Trust.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Media digital, khususnya media sosial, telah menjadi alat komunikasi utama dalam masyarakat modern. Perubahan perilaku konsumen yang semakin mengandalkan informasi dari platform digital, termasuk Instagram,  mengharuskan institusi kesehatan seperti Rumah Sakit untuk menyesuaikan strategi komunikasi mereka. Pergeseran penggunaan alat media ini, di antaranya terjadi pada  Rumah Sakit di Indonesia seperti RS Grha Kedoya, Jakarta, yang semula mengandalkan media konvensional (seperti suratkabar, radio dan televisi), dan belakangan menggunakan media sosial seperti Instagram.  Penelitian ini bertujuan mencari tahu apa sebab Rumah Sakit seperti RS Grha Kedoya, Jakarta mengganti alat media mereka ke media sosial. Oleh karena itu penulis melakukan analisis penggunaan media digital di RS tersebut. Oleh karena itu studi kasus dengan pendekatan deskriptif ini membahas peristiwa, perilaku, dan aktivitas serta proses yang dilalui pada media sosial Instagram Rumah Sakit Grha Kedoya (@grhakedoya). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggantian alat media ke media sosial karena jangkauan yang lebih luas, efektivitas biaya, interaksi dua arah, kampanye yang lebih tepat sasaran, penyampaian informasi yang cepat, dan peningkatan kesadaran merek. Dengan mengganti alat media itu, maka RS Grha Kedoya dapat meningkatkan efisiensi komunikasi internal dan eksternal, mempromosikan layanan dan program kesehatan secara lebih efektif, serta memanfaatkan data dan analisis interaksi media sosial yang terjadi untuk memahami kebutuhan dan umpan balik pasien dengan lebih baik, yang semuanya berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pelayanan rumah sakit. Penelitian ini memberikan manfaat signifikan bagi ilmu pengetahuan, khususnya dalam komunikasi kesehatan, dengan memperkaya pemahaman tentang penggunaan media sosial di rumah sakit. Hasil penelitian dapat membantu mengidentifikasi strategi komunikasi yang efektif untuk menyampaikan informasi kesehatan, meningkatkan edukasi pasien, dan memperkuat hubungan antara rumah sakit dan komunitas. Kata Kunci: Media Sosial; Promosi; Edukasi; Rumah Sakit.   ABSTRACT Digital media, especially social media, has become the primary communication tool in modern society. The shift in consumer behavior, increasingly relying on information from digital platforms, including Instagram, requires healthcare institutions like hospitals to adjust their communication strategies. This shift in media usage is occurring in hospitals in Indonesia, such as RS Grha Kedoya in Jakarta, which previously relied on conventional media (such as newspapers, radio, and television), but have recently started using social media like Instagram. This research aims to understand why hospitals like RS Grha Kedoya, Jakarta, have switched their media tools to social media. Therefore, the authors conducted an analysis of digital media usage in the hospital. Using qualitative method with a descriptive approach as methodology, the study discusses events, behaviors, activities, and processes on the Grha Kedoya Hospital’s Instagram account (@grhakedoya). The research findings indicate that the switch to social media is due to broader reach, cost-effectiveness, two-way interaction, more targeted campaigns, rapid information dissemination, and increased brand awareness. By switching to social media, RS Grha Kedoya can enhance internal and external communication efficiency, promote health services and programs more effectively, and utilize data and analysis from social media interactions to better understand patient needs and feedback, all of which contribute to improving the quality of hospital services. This research provides significant benefits to the field of knowledge, particularly in health communication, by enriching the understanding of social media usage in hospitals. The findings can help identify effective communication strategies to convey health information, enhance patient education, and strengthen the relationship between hospitals and the community. Abstract

Emoticon digunakan untuk mengekspresikan emosi seseorang karena media sosial tidak memiliki kemampuan untuk menunjukkannya. Meski demikian, emoticon juga berfungsi ganda sebagai cara untuk menipu seseorang melalui komunikasi. Akibat tindakan manipulatif yang didukung emoticon, memang sulit untuk melihat kebenaran yang ada. Tindakan ini bisa merugikan apabila seseorang sudah menjalin hubungan asmara, mengingat transparansi dan ketulusan adalah salah satu hal terpenting dalam hal ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari makna penggunaan emoticon manipulatif dalam hubungan romantis. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dan pendekatan kualitatif dengan mewawancarai 8 partisipan yang tinggal di Jakarta, Indonesia yang pernah mengalami hubungan romantis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: adanya hubungan yang tidak sehat melalui tindakan komunikasi manipulatif yang didukung dengan adanya emoticon di media sosial. Selanjutnya, hubungan yang monoton terjadi akibat dari penelitian ini karena salah satu atau kedua pasangan tidak mengungkapkan perasaannya yang sebenarnya melalui emoticon, dimana mereka hanya menggunakan emoticon tertentu yang hanya menyanjung pasangannya. Disisi lain, ternyata penggunaan emoticon yang tidak sesuai dengan teks ternyata tidak selalu dimaksudkan untuk memanipulasi perasaan. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengetahui dampak emotikon manipulatif yang digunakan dalam suatu hubungan dari sudut pandang masing-masing orang. Selain itu, penelitian ini dapat dikembangkan dengan membandingkan bagaimana gender yang berbeda memandang suatu informasi karena secara umum diketahui bahwa perempuan cenderung lebih condong pada perasaan sedangkan laki-laki berpikir dengan logika murni, hal ini juga akan ditunjukkan melalui hasil nantinya, apakah ini benar atau tidak.

Abstract

Technology development creates new media so humans can communicate with chatbots to meet the need for information. All customer needs, from submitting customer complaints to service access, can be done quickly using a chatbot. Currently, in Indonesia, several large companies have adopted chatbots to make it easier for customers to get customer service on a self-service basis or without human assistance. This study aims to analyze the effect of Veronika's chatbot implementation on self-service technology experience and the effect of self-service technology experience on self-service technology satisfaction in Telkomsel. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The results show that customer experience using chatbots is significantly influenced by perceived usefulness when interacting with Veronika's chatbot. This experience significantly influences customer satisfaction in using Telkomsel services.

Abstract

Social media have a crucial role in health discourse and have become a health information source in Indonesia. Health professionals have actively shared information, updated the situation and regulations, explained the cases by answering users’ questions, and combated the hoax through their accounts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health professionals are still perceived as credible and trusted sources to provide health information and messages to the public. This study aims to describe the credibility and expertise aspect of a medical doctor on social media, particularly Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. The research uses a quantitative approach capturing the bio and content from the accounts of medical influencers. The research findings reveal that health professionals on social media have transformed into microcelebrities, where some receive pay to promote and self-promote themselves.
