Abstract

The objective of this research to describe imperative sentences in the novel of Ayah dan Sirkus Pohon by Andrea Hirata. This novel tells the story of Sobirin, a 28-year-old unemployed man, and his winding journey in a traveling circus called Sirkus Blasia. The problem in this study is the imperative sentences in the novel of Ayah dan Sirkus Pohon by Andrea Hirata. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used library research techniques. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusions. The results of this study include imperative sentences of commands, imperative sentences of requests, imperative sentences of granting permission, imperative sentences of invitations, and imperative sentences of orders. The imperative sentences that frequently appear in Andrea Hirata's novel Ayah dan Sirkus Pohon is imperative command sentences with a total of 8 and the imperative sentences that appear the least are imperative permission and invitation sentences with the same number, namely 4. In the future, the author hopes that students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Indonesian Language and Literature Education will increase their insight into literary studies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the cultural values contained in the novel 99 light in the sky of Europe by Hanum Salsabiela Rais. The method used is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. Research Data in the form of quotations from the novel that contains cultural values. The main data source is the novel 99 lights in the European Sky, published by PT. Gramedia Pustaka Utama, Jakarta, with 420 pages thick and published in November 2013. Data collection techniques used are literature studies, while data analysis is done by content analysis method. To ensure the validity of the data, the techniques of extension of participation, persistence of observations, detailed description and auditing are used. The results showed that there are various kinds of cultural values that are divided into three categories, namely human relations with oneself (consisting of 22 quotes), human relations with other humans (23 quotes), and human relations with God (20 quotes that are divided into 4 aspects). For further research, it is recommended that further studies be carried out on other aspects of cultural values in the novel in order to contribute ideas to students, especially in the field of literature.

Abstract

The characters in the novel are generally not formed just like that, but are born from interactions with the social environment that surrounds them. Their characters are a reflection of the social background in which they grow and develop. This study aims to determine the influence of social background on the formation of the character of the main character in the novel Selena by Tere Liye. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are in the form of quotes that describe the character and social background of the main character. The data source is the novel Selena by Tere Liye. The data collection technique in this study is a literature study, the data analysis technique uses a structural approach. The results of the research conducted, the main protagonist in the novel Selena is Selena, found 13 characters in the character of Selena based on the character of the main protagonist which is dominated by the character of a hard worker, responsible, socially concerned, honest, independent, disciplined, creative, friendly, diligent, tolerant, curious, appreciating achievement and calm. Researchers found 8 aspects of 9 categories of social background in the novel including social status, occupation, education, economy, social norms and values, lifestyle, social relationships, inequality/social conflict. Based on the 8 aspects of social background contained in Tere Liye's novel Selena, 6 of them influence the formation of Selena's character, namely Work, Education, Economy, Social Norms and Values, Social Relations, and Social Inequality/Conflict

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the women’s struggle for gender justice depicted in the film Kaluna Home Sweet Loan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques. The research data consists of dialogue excerpts from the film that demonstrate women's independence, rejection of unfair domestic roles, resistance to gender inequality, criticism of stereotypes of women's roles, and support for equal rights and opportunities. Data collection was conducted through documentary study by watching the film, transcribing the dialogue, and classifying the data according to the research focus. The results show 66 items of data divided into five sub-aspects: women's independence in decision-making (18 items), rejection of unfair domestic roles (9 items), rejection of gender inequality (14 items), criticism of stereotypes of women's roles (13 items), and support for equal rights and opportunities (12 items). These findings demonstrate that the film Kaluna Home Sweet Loan not only provides entertainment but also represents the reality of women's struggle to demand equal rights and fight gender discrimination in society.

Abstract

Minat baca di indonesia masih rendah terutama untuk anak sekolah dasar sehingga harus mempunyai strategi agar minat siswa dapat meningkat. Strategi yang digunakan harus dapat meningkatkan minat baca siswa baik menggunakan media belajar atau yang lainnya. Pohon literasi merupakan salah satu media belajar yang dapat meningkatkan minat membaca siswa. Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan minat baca siswa. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif,kualitatif adalah proses pengumpulan data secara wajar untuk tujuan memahami dan menganalisis kejadian. Prosedur statistik atau teknik pengukuran kuantitatif lainnya tidak digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data untuk penelitian kualitatif. Hasil dari penggunaan media pohon literasi yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa kampus mengajar di dan di SDN 42 kota Bengkulu berpengaruh pada minat baca siswa sehingga setelah adanya pohon literasi dapat meningkatkan minat baca siswa karena mereka yang awalnya tertarik kemudian mencobanya dan menjadi kebiasaan. Siswa sering membaca diwaktu istirahat siswa sangat berantusias untuk mengisi kertas yang berwarna itu sehingga pohon literasi kami menjadi rindang. penggunaan media pembelajaran yang menarik yaitu salah satunya pohon literasi dapat meningkatkan minat baca siswa dengan sesuatu yang berwana dan unik siswa cendrung penasaran dan membuat siswa mencobanya kemudian siswa melakukannya dengan secara berulang sehingga dapat meningkatkan minat baca siswa.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengenalan Aplikasi Canva kepada siswa SD Negeri 64 Bengkulu Tengah. Metode pengajaran yang digunakan mencakup demonstrasi langsung oleh pengajar dan interaksi langsung siswa dengan aplikasi. Hasil menunjukkan antusiasme siswa dalam bereksplorasi fitur Canva dan kemampuan mereka untuk membuat desain sederhana. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang teknologi dan keterampilan desain dasar mereka, serta memberikan mereka alat bantu untuk meningkatkan kreativitas dalam pembelajaran di sekolah.

Abstract

This article examines the use of Canva as a teaching tool for Indonesian language instruction on job application letters in the XII Fashion Design class at SMKS 3 Idhata Curup. The goal is to describe Canva's effectiveness in enhancing students' writing skills and comprehension. Canva, as an online design and visual communication tool, helps convey messages and information effectively. This research employs a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The study shows that Canva is effective as a learning medium, improving writing skills, comprehension, and student engagement. Integrating digital technology like Canva enriches the learning experience and prepares students for the digital workforce. It is recommended that Canva or similar digital media be more widely used across various subjects to enhance the quality of education. Overall, the use of Canva in teaching job application letters in the XII Fashion Design class at SMKS 3 Idhata Curup yields positive results and is worth implementing

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to ascertain the outcomes and challenges encountered by grade 3 pupils at the Langit Biru School in Bengkulu City when composing descriptive prose using a variety of picture media. The descriptive qualitative approach of data analysis is applied. Data gathering methods include documentation, interviews, essay writing skills assessments, and observation. The average score for students' descriptive essay writing abilities, according to the research findings, was 78.8, falling into the good group. The fact that 14 pupils were able to obtain the required KKM score demonstrates this. Students encounter the following challenges: (a) they are still unsure about how to begin writing an essay; (b) they struggle to put relevant words into sentences; and (c) There are still students who cannot read.
