Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the English components or sub-skill that must be taught to the students. The vocabulary has the role to develop the four language skills, they are listening, reading, writing and speaking. Many vocabularies that the students have, is the easier for them to develop it, especially in the pandemic era because of COVID-19, the teacher have to use a media like an English song to enrich the students at Mining Department of Engineering Faculty vocabularies. In order that, the purpose of this study was to investigate the use of song as a media whether it is effective or not in teaching vocabulary. The total population of this study involved 92 students but the sample of by using the purposive technique sampling got 20 students in A class as a control and 20 students at B for experimental class. The instrument of this study used multiple choice tests which consist of 20 items. The data was collected by using pre-test and post-test, then followed by analyzing the data based on Arikunto’s theory using descriptive design. As well as the manual computation the result also showed that the score of the t-test was 4.741. The researcher compare that t-table at the degrees of freedom (df) (Nx + Ny)-2 . df = 20 + 20 – 2 = 38. The degree of freedom of 38 is at the competence  interval of 0.05 (95%) is 2.024 and 0.01 (99%) is 2.711. the comparison is done between t-test formulated with t-table in which results is 4.741  it is to found that the t-table of “t” indicated: t-test 4.741  >  t-table. It means that the mean score of the experimental class was higher than control class. So, the researcher concluded that the use of song “I Love You 3000” is effective in teaching learning English at Mining Department in academic year 2018/2019 and it means that the use of song as an alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Abstract

Abstrak Pengabdian ini berkaitan tentang menyelenggarakan pelatihan implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar bagi guru pendidikan dasar di Jerowaru, Lombok Timur. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru mengenai prinsip-prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka, memperkuat kemampuan dalam menyusun Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), serta membantu guru mempraktikkan strategi pembelajaran inovatif berbasis proyek. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan meliputi diskusi, simulasi, dan praktik langsung, dengan tahapan yang mencakup persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam kompetensi guru, termasuk kemampuan mereka dalam menyusun RPP yang relevan dan menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang kontekstual di kelas. Hambatan yang dihadapi, seperti keterbatasan akses teknologi dan perbedaan tingkat pemahaman peserta, berhasil diatasi melalui bimbingan intensif dan pendekatan adaptif. Pelatihan ini mendukung penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka di Jerowaru dengan membantu guru mengintegrasikan potensi lokal ke dalam pembelajaran, yang berdampak positif pada kualitas pendidikan dasar di wilayah tersebut. Artikel ini merekomendasikan pengembangan pelatihan serupa di daerah lain serta pentingnya dukungan berkelanjutan untuk memastikan keberhasilan implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka. Kata kunci: pelatihan; implementasi; kurikulum merdeka; sekolah dasar. Abstract This service community was related to the implementation of a training program on the application of the Merdeka Curriculum for elementary school teachers in Jerowaru, East Lombok. The training aimed to enhance teachers' understanding of the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, strengthen their ability to design Lesson Plans (RPP), and assist them in practicing innovative project-based teaching strategies. The training employed participatory methods, including discussions, simulations, and hands-on practice, with stages covering preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed significant improvements in teachers' competencies, particularly in developing relevant lesson plans and applying contextual teaching strategies in the classroom. Challenges such as limited access to technology and variations in participants' understanding were effectively addressed through intensive mentoring and adaptive approaches. This training supports the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Jerowaru by helping teachers integrate local potential into their teaching practices, positively impacting the quality of elementary education in the region. The article recommends the development of similar training programs in other regions and emphasizes the need for continuous support to ensure the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Keywords: training; implementation; merdeka curriculum; elementary schools

Abstract

ABSTRAKSektor perikanan memegang peranan krusial dalam menopang perekonomian masyarakat pesisir di Indonesia, termasuk di Desa Mapak Indah, dengan potensi sumber daya alam yang melimpah, khususnya ikan, membuka peluang besar bagi pengembangan usaha pengolahan seperti ikan asap. Namun, potensi ini seringkali belum tergarap optimal karena keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam manajemen usaha, terutama terkait keberlanjutan. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan manajemen usaha melalui pengembangan usaha ikan asap yang berkelanjutan di Desa Mapak Indah. Metodologi program ini melibatkan 18 peserta ibu-ibu pelaku UMKM ikan asap dan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17 Mei 2025 di Desa Mapak Indah, Mataram, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup identifikasi permasalahan dan kebutuhan mitra, pelatihan manajemen usaha dan keuangan, penerapan teknologi pengasapan yang ramah lingkungan, pelatihan pemasaran dan branding produk, serta pendampingan dan monitoring berkala. Tahapan kegiatan dilakukan oleh Tim dari pelatihan proses pengolahan ikan asap yang baik dan tepat, dan dilanjudkan dengan pendampingan manajeman usaha yang sesuai dengan kondisi masyarakat. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, dengan rata-rata skor pengetahuan meningkat dari 65 menjadi 80. Selain itu, rata-rata penjualan UMKM meningkat sebesar 30% dalam tiga bulan setelah pelatihan. Sebanyak 80% ibu-ibu pelaku UMKM berhasil membuka lapak fisik, dan rata-rata pendapatan bulanan mereka meningkat dari Rp 400.000 menjadi Rp 700.000 dalam satu minggu setelah pendampingan.Kata kunci: Manajemen Usaha; Ikan Asap; Berkelanjutan. ABSTRACTThe fisheries sector plays a crucial role in supporting the economy of coastal communities in Indonesia, including in Mapak Indah Village. Its abundant natural resources, especially fish, open up significant opportunities for developing processing businesses like smoked fish. However, this potential often remains underutilized due to limited knowledge and skills in business management, particularly regarding sustainability. This community service program aims to provide business management training and mentoring through the development of sustainable smoked fish businesses in Mapak Indah Village. The program's methodology involved 18 women participants who are micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) owners in the smoked fish sector. It was carried out on May 17, 2025, in Mapak Indah Village, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. The implementation methods included identifying partners' problems and needs, business and financial management training, implementing eco-friendly smoking technology, product marketing and branding training, and regular mentoring and monitoring. The stages of the activity are carried out by the Team from training on the proper and correct process of processing smoked fish, and continued with assistance in business management that is in accordance with community conditions. The program's results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills, with the average knowledge score rising from 65 to 80. Additionally, the average MSME sales increased by 30% within three months after the training. A significant 80% of the women MSME owners successfully opened physical stalls, and their average monthly income increased from Rp 400,000 to Rp 700,000 within one week of receiving mentoring.Keywords: Business Management; Smoked Fish; Sustainable.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, mastering the English language has become very important to facilitate access in various aspects of life, including communication. Listening and speaking are fundamental skills in English. Along with the development of technology, podcasts have become a popular learning media among students. This study aims to determine students' perceptions of podcasts as a learning media to improve listening and speaking skills in English learning. This research method is descriptive qualitative with Likert scale questionnaire and interview. The research samples were 5th and 7th semester students majoring in English Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. The results showed positive responses from students that podcasts are effective and interesting as learning media. Podcasts not only improve listening skills, but also speaking, such as finding new vocabulary, correct pronunciation, different accents, and increasing confidence in speaking. Podcasts can be a good alternative in learning English in college. In addition to the benefits of podcasts to improve listening and speaking skills, this study also shows some of the respondents' obstacles in using podcasts. For future research needs to explore how podcasts can be effectively integrated into the English curriculum, focusing on developing communication skills, addressing student challenges, and providing adequate pedagogical support.

Abstract

This study examines teachers’ perceptions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in education, with a particular focus on its impact on cultural literacy and its contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study employs a quantitative descriptive design, involving 25 teachers from SD Islam Prihaswari in East Lombok, Indonesia, who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected between July and August 2025 using a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 20 items distributed across four dimensions: AI utilization, cultural awareness, contribution to SDGs, and readiness and challenges. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics, including mean scores, standard deviations, percentage indices, 95% confidence intervals, and categorical interpretations. The results indicate an overall positive perception of AI integration in education. The highest mean score was observed in the SDGs dimension (M = 4.90, SD = 0.30, CI95% = 4.78–5.02), while the utilization dimension received the lowest score (M = 4.20, SD = 0.65, CI95% = 4.03–4.37). These findings suggest that teachers recognize AI’s potential to strengthen cultural literacy and support sustainable education, although practical implementation remains constrained by infrastructural and pedagogical limitations. The study highlights the need for improved digital infrastructure, systematic teacher training, and culturally responsive AI-based learning models to ensure meaningful and sustainable integration of AI in education

Abstract

ABSTRAK                                                                                     Bahasa Inggris merupakan keterampilan penting yang perlu diasah sejak dini, namun banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam berbicara dan kurang memiliki minat belajar. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dan minat belajar bahasa Inggris melalui pendampingan story telling berbantuan English cartoon story. Mitra sasaran adalah 34 siswa SMPN 17 Mataram, yang dipilih berdasarkan rekomendasi sekolah sebagai perwakilan siswa dengan kebutuhan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi, dengan metode ceramah dipadukan diskusi interaktif serta praktik story telling secara individu dan kelompok. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa secara signifikan, nilai rata-rata pre-test 72.06 meningkat menjadi 77.94 pada post-test, dengan standar deviasi menurun dari 13.933 menjadi 13.034, dan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test menghasilkan Z = -5.830, p = 0.000 < 0.05. Secara kualitatif, siswa menjadi lebih aktif, berani berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris, dan menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi selama kegiatan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa English cartoon story efektif sebagai media pendamping story telling, mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dan minat belajar bahasa Inggris, serta dapat diterapkan secara berkelanjutan di sekolah. Kata kunci: Story telling; English cartoon story; Kemampuan berbicara; Minat belajar. ABSTRACTEnglish is an important skill that needs to be honed from an early age, but many students have difficulty speaking and lack interest in learning. This community service activity aims to improve English speaking skills and interest in learning through storytelling assistance using English cartoon stories. The target partners are 34 students from SMPN 17 Mataram, who were selected based on school recommendations as representatives of students who need to improve their speaking skills. The activity was carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation, using a combination of lectures, interactive discussions, and individual and group storytelling practice. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in student abilities, with the average pre-test score of 72.06 increasing to 77.94 on the post-test, with the standard deviation decreasing from 13.933 to 13.034, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielding Z = -5.830, p = 0.000 < 0.05. Qualitatively, students became more active, dared to speak in English, and showed high enthusiasm during the activities. These findings indicate that English cartoon stories are effective as a companion medium for storytelling, capable of improving speaking skills and interest in learning English, and can be applied continuously in schools. Keywords: Storytelling; English cartoon stories; Speaking skills; Interest in learning.
