Abstract

This study aims at determining the effectiveness of using "Question Cards" in improving students speaking ability at class VII of SMP Muhammadiyah Mataram. This study is part of a pre-experimental study known as a pre-test and post-test group design, in which the sample is given a pre-test before treatment and a post-test after treatment. There was no control group in this investigation; instead, only one experimental group was used. This study takes a quantitative approach to its findings. The participants in this study were seventh-graders from Muhammadiyah Mataram Junior High School, who were divided into only one class of 16 pupils. Purposive sampling is the approach used. The use of the "Question Cards" strategy in increasing the speaking skills of SMP Muhammadiyah seventh grade students can be concluded as "successful" in this study. This is demonstrated by the students' pre-test and post-test scores, namely, the t-test score is 5.313, the consultation on the t-table at 99 percent points to 2.60, and it can be concluded that the comparison of t-test and t-table is 2.60 5.313, or in other words, the student's test results exceed the minimum standard of achievement.

Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the English components or sub-skill that must be taught to the students. The vocabulary has the role to develop the four language skills, they are listening, reading, writing and speaking. Many vocabularies that the students have, is the easier for them to develop it, especially in the pandemic era because of COVID-19, the teacher have to use a media like an English song to enrich the students at Mining Department of Engineering Faculty vocabularies. In order that, the purpose of this study was to investigate the use of song as a media whether it is effective or not in teaching vocabulary. The total population of this study involved 92 students but the sample of by using the purposive technique sampling got 20 students in A class as a control and 20 students at B for experimental class. The instrument of this study used multiple choice tests which consist of 20 items. The data was collected by using pre-test and post-test, then followed by analyzing the data based on Arikunto’s theory using descriptive design. As well as the manual computation the result also showed that the score of the t-test was 4.741. The researcher compare that t-table at the degrees of freedom (df) (Nx + Ny)-2 . df = 20 + 20 – 2 = 38. The degree of freedom of 38 is at the competence  interval of 0.05 (95%) is 2.024 and 0.01 (99%) is 2.711. the comparison is done between t-test formulated with t-table in which results is 4.741  it is to found that the t-table of “t” indicated: t-test 4.741  >  t-table. It means that the mean score of the experimental class was higher than control class. So, the researcher concluded that the use of song “I Love You 3000” is effective in teaching learning English at Mining Department in academic year 2018/2019 and it means that the use of song as an alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Abstract

Abstrak: Fundraising adalah sebuah seni yang bisa dipelajari oleh siapapun termasuk seorang pemula. Dalam kerangka fundraising, substansi fundraising berupa program yaitu kegiatan dari implementasi visi dan misi lembaga yang jelas sehingga masyarakat mampu tergerak untuk melakukan perbuatan filantropinya.secara kreatif. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang dilakukan tim dosen Prodi PBI FKIP UMMAT dengan melibatkan mahasisiwa Prodi PBI atau HMPS PBI atau ESA sebanyak 15 orang dengan menggunakan metode observasi dan metode tindakan dalam pelaksanaannya di lapangan. Adapun hasil dan temuan dari kegiatan ini adalah a) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang creative fundraising dan contoh metode kreatif yang telah dilaksanakan untuk menumbuhkan jiwa kreatif dan inovatif dalam diri mahasiswa umumnya dan jiwa kewirausahaan pada khususnya, b) mengembangkan kreasi, daya cipta dan pengalaman mereka untuk menggunakan creative fundraising sebagai cara atau metode dalam penggalangan dana bencana, c) dapat mengaplikasikan metode lainnya untuk kegiatan berikutnya untuk mengembangkan semua potensi yang dimiliki mahasiswa yang lebih melekatkan dasar kearah perkembangan sikap, pengetahuan, dan ketrampilan untuk menyesuaikan diri dan peka dengan kondisi lingkungan bencana yang sedang berlangsung di seluruh wilayah Indonesia, dan d) tumbuhnya sikap tepo seliro dan awareness atau sikap peduli sesama sehingga menimbulkan dampak psikologis yang bermanfaat bagi para mahasiswa selama masa pandemi ini.Abstract: Fundraising is an art that can be learned by anyone, including a beginner. In the framework of fundraising, the substance of fundraising is in the form of programs, namely activities of implementing a clear vision and mission of the institution so that the community can be motivated to do creative philanthropic deeds. Community service activities carried out involve 15 students of PBI or HMPS PBI or ESA study programs using observation and action methods in their implementation. The results and findings of this activity are a) increasing knowledge and understanding of creative fundraising and the examples of creative methods that have been implemented to foster a creative and innovative spirit in general and entrepreneurial spirit in particular, b) develop their creations, creativity and experience in raising funds for disasters, c) can develop all the potential of students who are more attached to the basis for the development of attitudes, knowledge, and skills to adapt and be sensitive to the conditions of the ongoing disaster environment in all regions of Indonesia, and d) the growing attitude of tepo seliro and awareness or a caring attitude towards others, which will have beneficial psychological effects for students during this pandemic.

Abstract

Abstrak: Duolingo masuk ke kategori aplikasi edukasi, tapi cara penggunaannya, layaknya bermain game sehingga mahasiswa juga dapat menggunakannya secara santai tanpa tekanan, dan dalam penggunaannya pula sangat mudah diterima dan diserap karena fleksibilitasnya. Aplikasi ini bertujuan untuk membantu dan mengembangkan kemampuan berbahasa, oleh karena itu, dengan melibatkan mahasiswa semester III (tiga) S1 Teknik Pertambangan Fakultas Teknik maka kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini menggunakan Duolingo application atau aplikasi Duolingo sebagai media pembelajaran elektronik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kosakata berbahasa Inggris. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode observasi dan metode tindakan sehingga hasilnya adalah bahwa mahasiswa secara langsung dilatih untuk selalu mengingat apa arti kata yang telah disebutkan tersebut lewat soal-soal yang diberikan pada setiaplevel sehingga mereka akan terus mengingat kosakata tersebut dengan menggunakan beberapa gambar, games dan lainnya dengan menampilkan bahasa inggris yang sering dipergunakan sehingga mahasiswa dapat belajar dengan lebih mudah. Mahasiswa juga dapat memanfaatkan teknologi internet, dalam hal ini penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo untuk kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa khususnya bahasa inggris yang lebih kreatif, menarik, dan inovatif serta memahami konsep media pembelajaran beserta fungsi media pembelajaran sehingga aplikasi Duolingo ini memberikan peningkatan kosakata bahasa Inggris karena metode dan bentuk yang berbeda sehingga mahasiswa tidak merasa terbebani dalam pelaksanaannya.Abstract: Duolingo is the educational application category like playing a game, so the students can also use its casually without pressure, and also easy to accept and absorb because of flexibility. This application aims to help and develop the language skills, therefore, by involving third semester students of Mining Engineering Faculty of Engineering, as the community service activity uses the Duolingo application as an electronic learning medium to improve their English vocabulary skills. This community service activity has been carried out using the observation and classroom action, so, the result is the students are directly trained to always remember about the word means through the questions given at each level by using several pictures, games and others. Students can also take advantages of internet technology, in this case the use of the Duolingo application for language learning activities, especially English which is more creative, interesting, innovative and they have to understand the concept of learning media and the functions of learning media so that this Duolingo application provides an increase in English vocabulary because of its methods and forms in its implementation.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kurikulum merupakan elemen penting dalam mencapai tujuan pendidikan, berfungsi sebagai sistem untuk mencapai hasil yang diinginkan baik di dalam maupun di luar sekolah. Kurikulum Merdeka memberikan kesempatan bagi siswa untuk mengembangkan minat dan bakat mereka serta memberikan kebebasan kepada guru dalam mengajar. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melatih guru sekolah dasar mengenai penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka, sekaligus membekali mereka dengan pengetahuan dan materi yang relevan. Dengan demikian, guru diharapkan siap untuk mengimplementasikan kurikulum dalam proses pembelajaran. Peran guru sangat vital dalam kesuksesan penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka. Peserta sosialisasi meliputi Kepala Sekolah dan guru dari SDN 1, 2, dan 3 Jerowaru. Berkat dukungan berbagai pihak, peserta mampu memahami dan menerapkan materi yang disampaikan narasumber dengan baik. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka, sehingga dapat menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih efektif dan menyenangkan bagi siswa.Abstract: The Merdeka Curriculum offers students the opportunity to cultivate their interests and talents while granting teachers greater autonomy in their instructional methods. This initiative aims to provide training for elementary school teachers on the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, equipping them with relevant knowledge and materials. Consequently, teachers are expected to be prepared to integrate the curriculum into their teaching practices. The role of teachers is essential for the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Participants in this workshop include the principals and teachers from SDN 1, 2, and 3 Jerowaru. With support from various stakeholders, participants effectively absorbed and applied the information presented by the speakers. The outcome of this training indicates an enhanced capability among teachers to develop learning resources aligned with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, thereby creating a more effective and enjoyable learning experience for students.

Abstract

The world revolution 5.0 has brought major changes in various aspects of life, including education, thus demanding the readiness of teachers, especially English teachers, in adopting educational technology. This study aims to analyze the influence of teachers' professional roles and institutional support on teachers' readiness to adopt educational technology. A quantitative approach was used in this study, with data collection through questionnaires and document studies from 33 respondents. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression method to identify the relationship between variables. The results showed that teachers' professional roles had a more dominant influence on teachers' readiness, with a regression coefficient of 0.553 and a standardized Beta contribution of 0.765. Meanwhile, institutional support also had a positive, albeit smaller influence with a regression coefficient of 0.220 and a standardized Beta of 0.228. Overall, these two variables explained 85.6% of the variation in teacher readiness. The findings suggest that individual factors, such as teachers' professional roles, have a more significant influence than external factors, although institutional support still plays an important role. This study recommends that local governments and schools develop technology-based training programs to improve teachers' capacity to face educational challenges in the era of the information technology revolution.

Abstract

Abstrak Pengabdian ini berkaitan tentang menyelenggarakan pelatihan implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar bagi guru pendidikan dasar di Jerowaru, Lombok Timur. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru mengenai prinsip-prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka, memperkuat kemampuan dalam menyusun Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), serta membantu guru mempraktikkan strategi pembelajaran inovatif berbasis proyek. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan meliputi diskusi, simulasi, dan praktik langsung, dengan tahapan yang mencakup persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam kompetensi guru, termasuk kemampuan mereka dalam menyusun RPP yang relevan dan menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang kontekstual di kelas. Hambatan yang dihadapi, seperti keterbatasan akses teknologi dan perbedaan tingkat pemahaman peserta, berhasil diatasi melalui bimbingan intensif dan pendekatan adaptif. Pelatihan ini mendukung penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka di Jerowaru dengan membantu guru mengintegrasikan potensi lokal ke dalam pembelajaran, yang berdampak positif pada kualitas pendidikan dasar di wilayah tersebut. Artikel ini merekomendasikan pengembangan pelatihan serupa di daerah lain serta pentingnya dukungan berkelanjutan untuk memastikan keberhasilan implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka. Kata kunci: pelatihan; implementasi; kurikulum merdeka; sekolah dasar. Abstract This service community was related to the implementation of a training program on the application of the Merdeka Curriculum for elementary school teachers in Jerowaru, East Lombok. The training aimed to enhance teachers' understanding of the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, strengthen their ability to design Lesson Plans (RPP), and assist them in practicing innovative project-based teaching strategies. The training employed participatory methods, including discussions, simulations, and hands-on practice, with stages covering preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed significant improvements in teachers' competencies, particularly in developing relevant lesson plans and applying contextual teaching strategies in the classroom. Challenges such as limited access to technology and variations in participants' understanding were effectively addressed through intensive mentoring and adaptive approaches. This training supports the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Jerowaru by helping teachers integrate local potential into their teaching practices, positively impacting the quality of elementary education in the region. The article recommends the development of similar training programs in other regions and emphasizes the need for continuous support to ensure the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Keywords: training; implementation; merdeka curriculum; elementary schools

Abstract

Abstrak Penulisan artikel ilmiah merupakan keterampilan esensial bagi mahasiswa yang perlu dikembangkan secara sistematis. Pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pelatihan berbasis Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis artikel ilmiah mahasiswa. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan secara intensif selama satu hari dengan metode penyampaian materi dan tutorial, yang kemudian diikuti dengan pendampingan dan kerja mandiri selama satu bulan. Dalam masa pendampingan, peserta diberikan kesempatan untuk melakukan revisi, konsultasi, dan submisi artikel ilmiah ke jurnal nasional terakreditasi SINTA 2-4. Analisis terhadap tanggapan peserta menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas aspek pelatihan, seperti pemanfaatan AI dalam menemukan topik penelitian, menyusun bagian artikel ilmiah, serta pembuatan tabel dan bagan, mendapatkan penilaian sangat baik. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan AI secara signifikan berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis akademik mahasiswa. Keberhasilan pelatihan ini dibuktikan dengan jumlah artikel ilmiah yang dihasilkan, yakni sebanyak 25 artikel yang siap dipublikasikan. Dengan demikian, AI terbukti menjadi alat bantu yang efektif dalam meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas publikasi ilmiah mahasiswa. Kata kunci: artificial intelligence; artikel ilmiah; keterampilan menulis; pelatihan; publikasi ilmiah.  Abstract Writing scientific articles is an essential skill for students that needs to be developed systematically. This community service aims to analyze the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based training in improving students' scientific article writing skills. This training is carried out intensively for one day with material delivery and tutorial methods, which are then followed by mentoring and independent work for one month. During the mentoring period, participants were given the opportunity to revise, consult, and submit scientific articles to SINTA 2-4 accredited national journals. Analysis of participants' responses showed that the majority of training aspects, such as the use of AI in finding research topics, compiling sections of scientific articles, and making tables and charts, received very good ratings. The results of this community service show that the use of AI significantly contributes to improving students' academic writing skills. The success of this training is evidenced by the number of scientific articles produced, namely 25 articles that are ready to be published. Thus, AI is proven to be an effective tool in increasing the productivity and quality of student scientific publications. Keywords: artificial intelligence; scientific articles; scientific publication training; writing skills

Abstract

Literacy achievement in low-grade students (I, II, and III) is still not optimal, students have not fully completed literacy achievement according to the standards of each class. This study aims to determine the improvement of literacy achievement of low-grade elementary school students by using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) learning approach. The research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research data were obtained from observation results, learning outcome tests, and documentation of 97 students. The results showed significant developments in the aspects of teacher activity in teaching from 64.23 to 91.00, student literacy skills in Class I increased from 50.16 to 88.88, Class II increased from 58.76 to 88.50, and Class III increased from 60.08 to 89.15, as well as student responses to the use of the TaRL approach in learning. It can be concluded that the use of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach is effective in improving the literacy skills of low-grade elementary school students. It is recommended for educators to continue to innovate continuously in implementing the TaRL approach. This breakthrough can be a means to develop educators' creativity in improving their professionalism, which ultimately contributes to improving students' literacy skills.

Abstract

The exploration of reading is pivotal for enhancing comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking. Despite its importance, discrepancies persist between theoretical models and practical applications in reading education. The objective of this study is to present a thorough review of the literature on exploring reading. Articles were searched using Publish or Perish with Scopus Database. The study analyzed 147 articles from 2019-2023. The Mendeley software is utilized to resume and manage references. The researchers applied to VOSviewer to review and identify articles. Seven clusters have been identified. Cluster 1 is comprised of seven items: academic vocabulary, influence, older adult, performance, reading comprehension, relationships, and self. Cluster 2 consisted 7 item: academic performance, children, online reading, poor reading comprehension, primary school student, research, and strategy. Cluster 3 consists of five items: college student, effectiveness, experience, feedback, and type. Cluster 4 consists of 5 items: achievement, adult, context, effect, and reading. Cluster 5 consists of 4 items: elt reading comprehension, factors, impact, and practice. Cluster 6 consisted of 4 items: adult reader, theory, vocabulary, and word reading. Cluster 7 consisted 3 item. Connections, knowledge, and roles.
