Abstract

Abstrak: Fundraising adalah sebuah seni yang bisa dipelajari oleh siapapun termasuk seorang pemula. Dalam kerangka fundraising, substansi fundraising berupa program yaitu kegiatan dari implementasi visi dan misi lembaga yang jelas sehingga masyarakat mampu tergerak untuk melakukan perbuatan filantropinya.secara kreatif. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang dilakukan tim dosen Prodi PBI FKIP UMMAT dengan melibatkan mahasisiwa Prodi PBI atau HMPS PBI atau ESA sebanyak 15 orang dengan menggunakan metode observasi dan metode tindakan dalam pelaksanaannya di lapangan. Adapun hasil dan temuan dari kegiatan ini adalah a) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang creative fundraising dan contoh metode kreatif yang telah dilaksanakan untuk menumbuhkan jiwa kreatif dan inovatif dalam diri mahasiswa umumnya dan jiwa kewirausahaan pada khususnya, b) mengembangkan kreasi, daya cipta dan pengalaman mereka untuk menggunakan creative fundraising sebagai cara atau metode dalam penggalangan dana bencana, c) dapat mengaplikasikan metode lainnya untuk kegiatan berikutnya untuk mengembangkan semua potensi yang dimiliki mahasiswa yang lebih melekatkan dasar kearah perkembangan sikap, pengetahuan, dan ketrampilan untuk menyesuaikan diri dan peka dengan kondisi lingkungan bencana yang sedang berlangsung di seluruh wilayah Indonesia, dan d) tumbuhnya sikap tepo seliro dan awareness atau sikap peduli sesama sehingga menimbulkan dampak psikologis yang bermanfaat bagi para mahasiswa selama masa pandemi ini.Abstract: Fundraising is an art that can be learned by anyone, including a beginner. In the framework of fundraising, the substance of fundraising is in the form of programs, namely activities of implementing a clear vision and mission of the institution so that the community can be motivated to do creative philanthropic deeds. Community service activities carried out involve 15 students of PBI or HMPS PBI or ESA study programs using observation and action methods in their implementation. The results and findings of this activity are a) increasing knowledge and understanding of creative fundraising and the examples of creative methods that have been implemented to foster a creative and innovative spirit in general and entrepreneurial spirit in particular, b) develop their creations, creativity and experience in raising funds for disasters, c) can develop all the potential of students who are more attached to the basis for the development of attitudes, knowledge, and skills to adapt and be sensitive to the conditions of the ongoing disaster environment in all regions of Indonesia, and d) the growing attitude of tepo seliro and awareness or a caring attitude towards others, which will have beneficial psychological effects for students during this pandemic.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to provide an extensive literature review on reading fluency. Articles were located through publish or perish software and the Google scholar database. Scanning by scimagojr.com (Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4). We analyzed 60 articles from 2016 to 2021. Mendeley software was used to manage and resume the references. We have reviewed this database and attempted to classify articles using VOSviewer software. Four clusters are identified. Cluster 1 consisted of ten items (disability, elementary students, fluency intervention, impact, intervention, reader, reading fluency, reaped reading, student, and teacher), Cluster 2 consisted of seven items word (child, effect, fluency, language, present study, reading, and word), cluster 3 consisted of five items word (comprehension, oral reading fluency, relationship, research, and vocabulary), and cluster 4 consisted of 4 items word (accuracy, development, relation, and study).

Abstract

Information communication technology is a tool for facilitating the teaching and learning process carried out by manipulating, processing, transferring information between media and managing especially in EFL reading comprehension learning. The purpose of the study is to gain depth information on experts’ judgment to the ICT in EFL reading comprehension material applied to students of English Education Program Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. The method applied is qualitative research. The participants involved are three experts namely an English material expert, a learning expert, and an ICT expert. The data were gathered through a questionnaire.  Data analysis was used statistically to obtain the average rating, while the experts’ notes were analyzed descriptively.  The research findings on experts’ judgment presented that the material assessed has already in the high categories or high level of feasibility. It can be shown from the assessment undertaken by an English material expert whose average is 4.0, a learning expert whose average is 4.2, and an information communication material expert whose average is 4.1.

Abstract

This study focused on the analysis of the effectiveness of applying the SQR3 method in student’s reading comprehension in the second year students of MA At-tahzib Gunung Sari in academic year 2015/2016. It was aimed at answering the research question ‘’Is SQR3 method effective in teaching student’s reading comprehension?’’ The population of this study was the grade XI students of MA At-tahzib Gunung Sari. The sample of this study was the students of class XI IPA 1 (experimental group) and XI IPA 2 (control group) with a total sample of 52 students from both classes. The writer conducted the research starting from giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. In the process of treatment, both groups were treated differently. The experimental group was treated using the SQR3 method, while the control group was not treated by using the SQR3 method. Based on the finding, it was suggested that the SQR3 method can be used by the English teacher as a method in teaching, especially in teaching reading. The result of the test showed that the mean score of the experimental group was 25.07 which was higher than the mean score of the control group (9.65). It was also supported by the t-test (6.85) which was higher than t-table at the confidence level of .05 (95%). Therefore, the alternate Hypothesis (Ha) which stated” SQR3 method is effective in teaching student’s reading comprehension” is accepted. It means that the SQR3 method is effective in teaching student’s ability in reading comprehension for the second year students of Ma-Attahzib Gunung Sari in academic year 2015/2016.

Abstract

The study are to find out the implementation of conversation in teaching speaking to English students  at fifth semester of Muhammadiyah University of Mataram 2013and to know the students’ responses to the use of conversation in teaching and learning process. Thisresearch is an action research. In this study the researcher uses action research theory proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart. The participants of the research are English students at fifth semester of Muhammadiyah University of Mataram. The research instrument used by the writer is in the form of observation checklist, test, and questioners. The data in the researchare mainly gathered through the use of observation, tests, andquestionnaires. After the data are collected, the researcher analyzes them. The finding of the research shows that the implementation of conversation can improve English students’ speaking skill at fifth semester of Muhammadiyah University of Mataram 2013.The main score of cycle one is 5.7. And the main score of cycle two is 7.0. The students’ responses were positive when conversations were applied in teaching speaking.

Abstract

Abstrak: Mendeley adalah sebuah perangkat lunak yang dapat digunakan untuk mengintegrasikan antara citation dan reference manager dalam penulisan karya ilmiah atau artikel. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk melatih mahasiswa untuk membuat kutipan dan daftar pustaka dengan memanfaatkan mendeley dan meningkatkan kualitas karya ilmiah sehingga hasilnya dapat dipublikasikan di jurnal nasional maupun internasional. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan pemanfaatan mendeley ini adalah ceramah dan praktek (pelatihan). Survei dilakukan dengan mendistribusikan pre-test sebelum kegiatan dan post-test setelah kegiatan kepada seluruh peserta pelatihan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukan bahwa pelatihan yang dilaksanakan dapat memberi dampak positif terutama dalam meningkatkan kecakapan untuk melakukan citation dan reference maneger dalam rangka menghasilkan karya ilmiah yang terhindar dari plagiat dan sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi digital.Abstract:  Mendeley is a software that can be used to integrate citation and reference manager in writing scientific papers. This training aims to train students to make citations and bibliography using Mendeley and improve the quality of scientific papers so that the results can be published in national and international journals. The method used in this Mendeley utilization training is lecture and practice (training). The survey was conducted by distributing pre-test before the activity and post-test after the activity to all training participants. The results of the training show that the training carried out can have a positive impact, especially in improving skills to carry out citations and reference managers in order to produce scientific works that are free from plagiarism and in accordance with the development of digital technology.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out how the implementation of translation can improve the students’ reading skill and how the students’ responses to the use of translation method in the teaching and learning process. This research is a classroom action research. The participant is 39 students. The research instrument used is in the form of observation checklist, test, and questioners. The finding of the research shows that the implementation of translation improves the students’ reading skill in the teaching process and the test result. The result of evaluation which carried out in end of the cycle I obtained that the lowest score is 40 and the highest score is 82 then the average score is 58.1, cycle II gets the lowest score is 50 and the highest score is 85 then the average score is 60,9, and cycle III get the lowest score is 60 and the highest score is 85 and the average score is 65.8. Therefore, it can be concluded that the translation method can improve the students’ reading skill of grade VII D of MTs. Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and the students’ responses are positive when the teacher applied translation method in teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Reading strategy is an essential skill required by the students to gain knowledge and information about certain reading texts. The purpose of this study is to provide an extensive literature review on reading strategy. Articles were located through publish or perish software, Google Scholar, and Scopus. We analyzed 92 articles from 2016 to 2021. Mendeley software was applied to manage and resume the references. The researchers reviewed this database and attempted to classify articles using VOSviewer software. Eight clusters have reviewed the words most frequently occurring in each group were achievement, examination, attitude, comprehension, evidence, case, contribution, and case study. Abstract

Abstrak: Pemilihan khalayak sasaran didasarkan dari pertimbangan bahwa guru-guru memiliki kemampuan skill TOEFL yang lemah. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan peningkatan kemampuan TOEFL Bahasa Inggris pada guru-guru di pesantren Alam Sayang Ibu. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah melalui pelatihan intensif dengan perpaduan teori dan praktek serta diskusi pada kemampuan menyimak, membaca dan struktur. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 15 guru dari berbagai bidang ilmu. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kompetensi guru terhadap test TOEFL. Hasil TOEFL test menunjukkann peningkatan nilai dari 381 menjadi 400. Peningkatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan dan kompetensi guru pada TOEFL meningkat setelah pelatihan. Abstract: The selection of the target audience is based on the consideration that teachers have weak TOEFL skills. This activity aims to provide training to improve TOEFL English skills for teachers at the Alam Sayang Ibu Islamic boarding school. To achieve this goal, the method of implementing this activity is through intensive training with a combination of theory and practice as well as discussions on listening, reading and structure skills. This activity was attended by 15 teachers from various fields of science. The results of TOEFL test indicated improvement score from 381 to 400. This improvement showed teacher knowledge and competence on the TOEFL test after the treatment.
