Abstract

Kota Makassar berada pada wilayah iklim tropis panas-lembap yang dipengaruhi oleh laut. Kota ini memiliki bentuk wilayah yang unik karena panjang garis pantainya mencapai 7 kali lipat dari lebarnya, sehingga angin laut masih sangat kuat berpengaruh sampai di daratan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kebermanfaatan angin laut di kawasan kota Makassar. Kawasan kota Makassar yang menjadi kasus studi adalah kawasan kota disekitar Jl. G. Bawakaraeng (± 1 km dari garis pantai), Jl. A.P. Pettrani (± 4 km dari garis pantai/ ditengah kota), dan Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan (± 20 km dari garis pantai). Untuk mendukung penelitian ini telah dikumpulkan data kecepatan dan arah angin dari Stasiun Meteorologi dan Geofisika Maritim Potere Makassar selama lima tahun berturut-turut (2012-2016). Pengukuran dilakukan lima kali dari pagi sampai sore saat cuaca cerah dalam waktu yang bersamaan pada semua titik ukur. Analisis dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan formula dari Edward Ng (2006) sebagai indikator. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa angin laut Makassar sangat poternsial dimanfaatkan untuk perencanaan lingkungan binaan.

Abstract

Panel plastik bertulang dirancang sebagai bahan bangunan alternatif yang berbahan dasar sampah plastik dengan tulangan dari batang enceng gondok. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengolah sampah plastik dan tanaman enceng gondok menjadi produk teknologi yang memiliki nilai jual. Material plastik termasuk kategori bahan bangunan ringan, yang memiliki sifat, tidak mudah pecah, tidak korosi, dan tahan terhadap cuaca. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengembangan lebih mendalam terkait variasi tekanan pengepresan untuk memperoleh material yang dapat memaksimalkan penghematan energi. Dilakukan pengujian daya serap air untuk memberikan jaminan ketahanan bahan terhadap cuaca untuk mendukung fungsinya sebagai bahan bangunan yang berkualitas.

Abstract

Nowadays, foreign language education relies heavily on digital technology. A growing emphasis on 21st-century skills and massive technological advancements raise more concerns than ever about the competency of English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers. This study aimed to investigate the level of digital technology readiness among EFL teachers in Indonesia and respondents’ experiences in implementing technology in the education curriculum in Indonesian schools. A quantitative survey of 90 teachers was conducted to observe the teachers’ perceptions and experiences with technology. The study showed that technological advancement has helped teachers teach the English language. The respondents believed that technology could improve the students’ English skills, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, pronunciation, and grammar. This study provided the teachers' perception of the value of using technology in English language learning.

Abstract

This qualitative study focused on reporting online teaching and learning English writing and identifying the reasons beyond learning loss in the pandemic. It focused on 50 third-grade students, 4 English teachers, and 5 parents at an upper secondary school level in Sukabumi. They were selected purposively. The instruments used were questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The results revealed that online learning significantly changed the teaching preparation and process. Teachers and students had to adapt to new pedagogical approaches, from face-to-face to online classes. Effective online English learning requires well-structured, scheduled, and coordinated learning activities to enhance effectiveness. The pandemic posed challenges to online learning, including technological issues, a lack of discipline, and creative activities. English learners faced difficulties such as collaborative planning, accessibility issues, and multimedia resource use, whereas parents and teachers faced difficulties in supervising and managing work schedules and providing support. Online education had a significant impact on English learning, enhancing interaction through complicated materials and addressing the lack of face-to-face interaction and internet connectivity.

Abstract

As times progress more rapidly, the existence and contribution of intellectual products, such as books and written works, in shaping the identity and progress of a society is becoming increasingly significant. However, with advances in technology and globalization, challenges to the security and protection of intellectual work rights are increasingly complex. It underlies the urgency of registering Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) as a real effort to protect creators' rights, motivate innovation, and build the foundation of a knowledge-based economy. Unfortunately, many academic lecturers do not realize the importance of having a creation registration letter. Some are aware but do not yet know the steps for managing copyright. Therefore, this community service is carried out as a presentation at a national seminar held by the Indonesian PkM Lecturer Association, which is carried out online to disseminate knowledge and information related to IPR. The participants are lecturers from all over Indonesia. Two general pieces of information are presented in the form of (1) education on the importance of IPR and the types of works that are protected and (2) steps for managing IPR and the documents required. It is hoped that this service activity can increase public awareness in general and academic lecturers in particular that IPR registration is not only a legal requirement but also a strategic step to form a society that respects creativity protects the rights of creators and encourages sustainable economic growth. Thus, this activity contributes to advancing knowledge in this country.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan fungsi-fungsi manajemen: 1) perencanaan perpustakaan SD Negeri Bantul Timur, 2) pengorganisasian, 3) penggerakan, 4) pengendalian, dan 5) pola manajemen perpustakaan SD Negeri Bantul Timur. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualititatif. Teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan datanya yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fungsi perencanaan meliputi penentuan tujuan, program kerja dan penganggaran. Fungsi pengorganisasian dilaksanakan dengan menempatkan staf sesuai bidangnya dan menyusun struktur organisasi yang mendorong pembagian tugas dan kerjasama. Fungsi penggerakan dilakukan melalui kegiatan koordinasi melalui rapat dan briefing serta pemberian motivasi dan kegairahan dalam bekerja. Fungsi pengendalian dilakukan melalui laporan dan evaluasi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Influence of Competitive Excellence Strategy and Marketing Strategy on the Sales of Harumanis Mango The respondent determination technique was carried out by census of 75 units of Harumanis mango traders. The analysis technique used is SEM (Structural Equetion Modelling). The results of the research obtained the Competitiveness Strategy Achievement of 82,95 % of the very good criteria. Marketing Strategy achieved 73,85% and Harumanis Mango Sales achieved 75.25%. The strongest Competitive Advantage Strategy Formation Dimension is Product Differentiation, The strongest Marketing Strategy Forming Dimension is Partertship and the strongest mango harumanis Sales Forming Dimension is the Transaction Process. There is a positive correlation between the Competitive Advantage Strategy and the Marketing Strategy which is shown by the correlation coefficient number r12 = 0.97, which can be interpreted as the better the Competitive Advantage Strategy. then the Marketing Strategy will be better, and vice versa. The Competitive Advantage Strategy and Marketing Strategy had a positive effect on the Sales of Harumanis Mango with a contribution of 33.78% and 23.14%, respectively. It is recommended that sellers can maintain a good relationship with customers even better. Communication with mobile phones needs to continue to be built and offer products, especially when new products come with attractive and quality performance. It is recommended that the mango packaging should be made more attractive and include thanks and prayers for buyers.

Abstract

This study investigates the development of students' English-speaking skills and self-confidence by implementing a digital multimodal presentation project in an English-speaking class. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected from 31 students and one English teacher through classroom observations, reflective journals, interviews, and document reviews. The findings indicate that the multimodal approach helped students improve their speaking proficiency by integrating various digital tools, fostering creativity, and reducing anxiety. However, some students faced challenges in terms of technical difficulties and limited English vocabulary. Despite these obstacles, the digital multimodal project significantly contributed to building students' self-confidence in speaking English. This method is recommended for further use to enhance students' engagement and communication skills in the language-learning process.

Abstract

Abstract: This experimental method focused on the effectiveness of Duolingo as a gamification application strategy to improve students’ speaking skills and interest, and to confirm the correlation between them. The participants were the tenth graders of SMAN 1 Mande selected randomly to be the experimental and control classes. The instruments were the pre-post speaking skill test and the pre-post speaking interest questionnaire. The analysis revealed that the significant score (2-tailed) or (P) of the post-speaking skill test obtained by both experimental and control classes was 0.00. Thus, the significant difference was confirmed. The quality of the experimental class on speaking skills was higher than that of the control class. It was decided that Duolingo, as a gamification application strategy, had an effective impact on improving speaking skills. Moreover, all significant scores (2-tailed) or (P) of the post-speaking interest questionnaire obtained by both experimental and control classes were 0.00. Thus, the significant difference was confirmed. The quality of the experimental class on speaking interest was higher than the control class. It exposed that Duolingo, as a gamification application strategy, had an effective impact on improving speaking interest. The experimental class achieved a mean score of 88.47, whereas the control class obtained a mean score of 79.17. The experimental class achieved a mean post-speaking interest score of 123.75, whereas the control class scored 99.69. Whereas, correlation coefficient was 0.007. Moreover, the significance score between speaking interest and speaking skill in the experimental class was 0.963, which was more than 0.05. Therefore, it implied that students’ speaking skills did not correlate significantly with their speaking interest. It could be concluded that Duolingo, as gamification, was quite effective in improving students’ speaking skills and speaking interest, but there was no correlation between speaking skills and speaking interest Keywords: Duolingo; gamification; speaking skill; speaking interest.

Abstract

This study examined distance learner resilience in overcoming academic burnout during their research in the English department. The descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches were used to evaluate the experiences and perspectives of 144 distance learners on their self-directed learning activities from the Undergraduate and Graduate English Education Study Programs at Universitas Terbuka (UT). The findings revealed that a strong support system is important in enhancing learners' resilience in distance higher education. Support from family and institutions contributes to their emotional and academic stability, while community engagement and access to digital resources expand learning opportunities and overcome barriers. In addition, the balance between online learning and personal life is key to preventing academic burnout and maintaining learning motivation. Therefore, educational institutions need to develop holistic support strategies, covering emotional, social, and managerial aspects for distance learners.
