Abstract

The objective of this study was to ascertain the extent of social capital among extension workers in Kendari City, with a particular focus on the role of trust in the implementation of effective agricultural extension activities. The study population consisted of all agricultural extension workers in Kendari City, numbering 63 individuals. The research sample was selected using the census technique, which involves taking the entire population, resulting in a sample size of 63 respondents. The data were collected via survey, interview, and document analysis techniques, employing a variety of media formats, including questionnaires. The research variables concentrated on the social capital of extension workers, specifically in the context of trust in agricultural extension activities. This research employs a quantitative methodology. The data were analyzed using a quantitative descriptive approach. This method employs mathematical and statistical calculations for testing, measurement, and hypothesis testing. The findings indicated that the social capital of the extension workers in Kendari City, specifically their trust in agricultural extension activities, has been effectively implemented. Trust in agricultural extension activities is a crucial element in the success of extension work. The relationship between extension workers and farmers plays a pivotal role in this process. By fostering effective communication and mutual respect, trust can be established, which in turn will encourage the adoption of more effective and sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the correlation between farmers' social capital and the sustainability of yellow corn farming in Wakadia Village, Watopute Subdistrict, Muna Regency. The study population consisted of all yellow corn farmers in Wakadia Village, Watopute Subdistrict, Muna Regency, comprising a total of 103 households. The number of samples was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% error margin, resulting in a sample size of 51 respondents. The sampling technique employed was simple random sampling. The data collection techniques employed included surveys, interviews, and document analysis, with data collected using questionnaires. This study employs two variables: social capital, comprising trust, participation, networks, and social norms, and farm sustainability, encompassing economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The data were subjected to descriptive analysis using a class interval formula and a Rank Spearman correlation formula. The findings indicate that the social capital of farmers engaged in yellow corn farming in Wakadia Village, Watopute Subdistrict, Muna Regency is in an optimal category, suggesting that their social capital is capable of sustaining yellow corn farming over the long term. The sustainability of yellow corn farming in Wakadia Village is sufficient, indicating that farmers have implemented business sustainability indicators but still require improvement. There is a significant and positive relationship between farmers' social capital and yellow maize business sustainability in Wakadia Village.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to; (1) Knowing and analyzing the capacity of farmers in dragon fruit farming in Alebo Jaya Village, Konda District, South Konawe Regency. This research was carried out in March-July 2024 with farmer informants. Determining the research location was carried out purposively with the consideration that farmers in Alebo Jaya Village, Konda District have been cultivating dragon fruit for a long time. This research used primary data and secondary data which were analyzed descriptively, using interview techniques with 10 dragon fruit farmers as informants. With the following results: This research shows that the capacity of farmers used in Alebo Jaya Village, Konda District, South Konawe Regency is the capacity of farmers related to eradicating the white fungus pest that attacks dragon fruit. Analysis of farmers' capacity in dragon fruit farming in Alebo Jaya Village, Konda District, South Konawe Regency. With the presence of white fungus medicine, farmers felt relieved and grateful because they were able to be helped in overcoming the problems they faced.

Abstract

Keberhasilan pembangunan yang dilaksanakan oleh pemerintah sangat dipengaruhi oleh tersedianya infrastruktur. Salah satu infrastruktur yang mendapat perhatian besar pemerintah adalah infrastruktur jalan. Salah satu material khususnya lapis permukaan jalan beraspal adalah Aspal baik yang berasal dari jenis Aspal minyak maupun aspal alam yang tersedia dan diproduksi dari pulau Buton sebagai lapis Penutup Permukaan Jalan beraspal. Sayangnya hal itu tidak berbanding lurus dengan pemanfaatan secara maksimal Aspal Buton. Aspal Buton adalah jenis aspal alam yang sudah dikenal dengan sejumlah karakteristik uniknya. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam upaya pihak kampus (Universitas Sulawesi Tenggara) yang ingin mendorong pemanfaatan Aspal Buton secara maksimal demi peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat di Kab Buton secara khusus dan Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara secara umum dan tentu berdampak signifikan terhadap Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan pemaparan pemateri yang berkompeten lalu dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh seluruh Satuan Kerja Perangkat Daerah (SKPD) lingkup Pemkab Buton dan pihak Swasta di bidang Aspal Buton. Dari hasil kegiatan sosialisasi sebagai bentuk pengabdian ini menghasilkan tambahan pemahaman yang benar mengenai potensi Aspal Buton dan pemanfaatan berbagai jenis olahan Aspal Buton dan diharapkan mampu ditindaklanjuti oleh SKPD terkait di Kab. Buton untuk memanfaatkan potensi Aspal Buton untuk bahan pembentuk Lapis Perkerasan jalan beraspal buton terutama di Kabupaten Buton.
