Abstract

As viewed by many linguists, writing skill is the most difficult one in English to be tough or learned. For many years, writing has not been a favorable interest like the other skills. This paper is intended to discuss the role and the effectiveness of using computer edutainment or called Education and Entertainment in improving students? writing. The subjects of this research were the students? class XI A. Meanwhile, the objects of this research are students? skill in writing through Computer Edutainment. In this research the researcher used CAR (Classroom Action Research) as the research method, there is 2 technique of collecting the data in this research those are qualitative data and quantitative data. The quantitative data are in the form of numerical data. The data are from students' score of pre-test and post-test while the qualitative used in collecting the data were taken from the result of observation and interview. This study used several data instrument in gathering the data dealing with the question of the study, i.e: writing test in the form of writing essay, observation field note, and interview. The data were then analyzed whether their writing results were reaching the minimum standard or not, and having improvement or not. From the comparisons, the researcher makes a conclusion in the form of descriptions whether the students' ability of XI of SMAN 1 PAJO in writing has improved by the use of computer edutainment or not.

Abstract

This study was aimed to know the perception of the second semester of English department students? in Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global when they are have to use daring learning as a media for their learning process when they did the quarantine because of the covid-19 virus. The researcher did a qualitative case study with the total 32 students? involved as well as participant. This study used several data instrument in gathering the data dealing with the question of the study, i.e: analysis of students? writing test in the form of writing essay and interview. The researcher were also give a detailed description of a case study ? its definition, some classifications, and several advantages and disadvantages ? in order to provide a better understanding of this widely used daring study. The data were then analyzed whether their writing results were reaching the minimum standard or not and were the students doing well in daring study or not. From the comparisons, the researcher makes a conclusion in the form of descriptions whether the students' of English department in institut pendidikan nusantara global enjoy their daring study while quarantine or not.

Abstract

Tema kegiatan Pengabdian ini Adalah Pelatihan Penulisan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) Bagi Guru-Guru SMA IT Dhiaul Fikri. Tujuan penelitian ini bahwa guru di SMA IT DHIAUL FIKRI belum melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas. Bahkan mereka belum tahu apa itu penelitian tindakan kelas dan bagaimana melakukannya oleh sebab itu LPPM Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global bekerjasama dengan SMA IT DHIAUL FIKRI merancang kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan PKM ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan, Pembekalan, dan workshop. Pelatihan ini membekali para guru tentang prinsip-prinsip PTK, langkah- langkah PTK dan bagaimana menyusun laporan PTK. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah Ketercapaian target materi yang telah direncanakan Ketercapaian target materi yang telah direncanakan pada kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat dinilai baik (80%). Semua materi yang telah direncanakan dapat disampaikan selain itu Kemampuan peserta dalam penguasaan materi Kemampuan peserta dilihat dari penguasaan materi dapat dinilai baik (80%).

Abstract

Mengenalkan bahasa Inggris sejak sekolah dasar perlu didukung oleh sarana dan prasarana yang memadai. Guru sebagai komponen pengelola proses pembelajaran perlu memahami kerangka berpikir anak di Tingkat Sekolah Dasar agar pengelolaan pembelajaran dapat dilakukan dengan baik. Permaslahan yang timbul adalah para guru SD tersebut mengeluh sulit mengajarkan bahasa Inggris dengan metode yang tepat sedangkan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SD sudah masuk dalam Kurikulum Merdeka. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan metode Finger Stayle dalam mengajarkan Bahasa Inggris di sekolah Dasar. Metode yang diterapkan dalam pengabdian ini adalah workshop dan penerapan dari workshop tersebut, yang mana mitra dari pengabdian ini adalah para wali kelas. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah memudahkan para guru dalam mengajarkan Bahasa inggris pada siswanya karena metode Fingger Stayle adalah metode belajar sambil bermain tentunya ini cocok untuk siswa sekolah dasar terutama kelas rendah agar tidak bosan dalam belajar Bahasa inggris.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students' vocabulary mastery through English songs. This research was Classroom Action Research with conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data is collected through qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data obtained by interviews and observation results. Then, quantitative data were obtained from the students' vocabulary scores from the pre-test, post-test. Based on the results of this study, it showed that there was progress in students' vocabulary mastery, as seen from the average pretest score of 66.07, the average posttest 1 score was 72.14, and the average posttest score. cycle 2 is 78.93. In addition, there were 5 students (18%) who passed the Standard of minimum completeness of mastery learning on the pretest. Whereas in cycle 1 there were 15 students (54%) who passed Standard of minimum completeness, and it was obtained in the post test cycle 2 that there were 24 students (86%) who passed. It means that, the Standard of minimum completeness of mastery learning was achieved. Then, the results show an increase and a positive response in the learning process of teaching vocabulary through English songs. Furthermore, the results of observations and interviews show that students are motivated in the teaching and learning process when using this English song.

Abstract

This study was aimed to know the writing anecdote skill in the first grade students of SMAN 3 Praya, the researcher chose the anecdote as the material because there are 13 kind of text in English, but anecdote is rarely taught by the teacher whereas anecdote is interesting story about a real incident or person and the students may interested when they learn about anecdote text. This research used scientific method, The term “Scientific Method” gained its popularity in the field of education in Indonesia when Curriculum 2013 was launched by Ministry of Education and Culture in 2013, It is explicitly stated in the curriculum that, with its excellences, the scientific method is very important for a better quality of teaching and learning to develop students’ affection, knowledge, and skills. The researcher did a qualitative case study with the total 30 students’ involved as well as participant. This study used several data instrument in gathering the data dealing with the question of the study, i.e: observation, interview and questionnaire form to collect the data in a case study to explore (1.) whether or not the teacher is able to implement scientific method to teach writing anecdote skill; (2) how the teacher interprets scientific method; (3) the students’ perception toward anecdote text and scientific based learning activity. This research might be the window for further studies or reference to explore the potential benefit and challenge of scientific method in teaching writing anecdote text, particularly for senior high school level.

Abstract

Pada tingkat mahasiswa, keterampilan menulis sangat diperlukan untuk mengungkapkan pemikiran atau gagasan yang dimilikinya dalam bentuk tulisan akademis. Menulis teks akademik merupakan suatu kegiatan akademik yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan tulisan akademik. Penulisan akademik yang dipelajari pada jenjang perguruan tinggi pada mata kuliah penulisan akademik adalah penulisan gagasan dalam bentuk proposal penelitian, makalah, ringkasan buku, artikel, dan laporan yang ditulis secara logis dan sistematis dalam bentuk laporan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis akademik mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Academic Writing dengan menggunakan Project Based Learning (PBL). Penerapan Metode Based Learning berfokus pada permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan penulisan karya ilmiah baik berupa artikel ilmiah maupun artikel akademik dengan menggunakan metode Project Based Learning. Dengan menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dan sebagai sampel dipilih mahasiswa kelas A semester 5 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen: observasi, wawancara dan kuesioner untuk menganalisis data dalam bentuk deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model PBL dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis akademik. Peningkatan tersebut terlihat dari hasil pre-test siswa yang awalnya sebesar 63,87%, dan setelah dilakukan penelitian ini hasil post-test akademik menulis siswa meningkat menjadi 84%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, implikasi penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa mampu menulis artikel atau tulisan akademik sesuai dengan kaidah yang tertera pada indikator penelitian.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of using digital media in writing articles in writing III courses. The design used in this study was a descriptive qualitative analysis and the method in this study is used to analyze descriptions or descriptions systematically about the use of digital media to improve students' Writing articles, this study illustrates that digital media has a positive impact on students' writing skills. The results of the study indicate that fast access to information through online platforms, increased creativity through digital writing tools, and interaction with readers through social media can improve the quality of articles produced by students. However, challenges related to the selection and verification of information were also found, emphasizing the need for media literacy development. In addition, this study contributes to the understanding of how digital media can support writing III Course learning and offers a foundation for developing a curriculum that is responsive to technological developments. So that digital media used to deliver material can take place effectively to improve students' literacy in learning so that it can run according to educational goals.

Abstract

This classroom action research was aimed at improving students’ listening achievement using the dictation method at the seventh graders of MTs Sakinatul Walidain NWDI Boro’ Gerung. The subject of this study consisted of 30 students. This classroom action research consisted of two cycles and four phases, those are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The finding of the study indicated that the utilization of the dictation method was significantly effective in improving students’ listening skills. It can be seen from the students’ scores in the pre-cycles and after conducting all the cycles. Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ achievements are improved after conducting the dictation method in the teaching and learning process. Based on the findings of the research, it can be drawn that the use of the dictation method can improve students' listening skills in the narrative text.

Abstract

This research is aimed at improving the students’ reading comprehension at grade seven of SMP Negri 4 Praya in the academic year of 2022/2023. The teaching reading skill of seven grade students of SMP Negri 4 Praya was through language games. To achieve the objective, collaborative work involving the researcher, the English teacher, the principal, and the students of grade seven was conducted. This study was action research study consisting of two cycles. The steps of the research were: planning, action observation, and reflection. The data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process during the implementation of the actions, interviewing the English teacher and the students of seven grade students, and holding discussions with the English teacher. The instruments for gathering the data were a recorder, a camera, and interview guidelines. The data analyses were in the forms of field notes, recordings, interview transcripts, and photographs. The result showed that in Cycle 1 the implementation of language games was successful in improving the students’ reading comprehension and their interest in reading during the teaching and learning process. However, the language games which was implemented through group work was not successful because there were some students who were not actively engaged in the group work. Therefore, the researcher improved that action by applying pair work and giving reward. Meanwhile, it was shown in Cycle II that the implementations of language games were successful in improving the students’ reading comprehension and interest in reading during the teaching learning process. From the two cycles, the implementations of language games were effective to improve students’ reading comprehension.
