Abstract

Anemia is a common health issue with serious clinical effects, making timely and accurate diagnosis essential to prevent complications. This study explores the use of machine learning (ML) methods to classify anemia and its subtypes using detailed hematological data. Six ML models were tested: Gradient Boosting, Random Forest, Naive Bayes, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine, and K-Nearest Neighbors. The dataset was preprocessed using feature standardization and the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) to address class imbalance. Gradient Boosting delivered the highest accuracy, sensitivity, and F1-score, establishing itself as the top-performing model. SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) analysis was applied to enhance model interpretability, identifying key predictive features. This study highlights the potential of explainable ML to develop efficient, accurate, and scalable tools for anemia diagnosis, fostering improved healthcare outcomes globally.

Abstract

A healthy and clean environment can be created starting from self-awareness and the surrounding community. A clean environment fosters a healthy life and is free from various diseases. Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is an action to prevent the occurrence of diseases and improve health levels. Disease disorders caused by poor sanitation in the boarding school environment certainly require further treatment, one of which is by consuming certain drugs. The steps in obtaining, using, storing, and disposing of drugs need to be known by students in order to maximize the healing of their illnesses. The purpose of this service is to increase awareness among students about the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, as well as to provide the right knowledge about the use of drugs. The methods used in this community service include lectures, discussions, educational videos, and simulations. The results of this community service indicate an increase in the understanding and knowledge of students regarding clean living patterns. Boarding school managers also gained a better understanding of the importance of proper sanitation in the boarding school environment and how to use drugs properly and correctly. In conclusion, there is an increase in students' understanding of clean-living patterns and knowledge of how to use drugs appropriately.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is well-known as an ancient disease that remains a global challenge until this era. The main goals of the treatment are to eradicate the colonization of acid-resistant basil and to prevent the occurrence of drug resistance. However, the accomplishment of this multi-drugs therapy is not always achieved due to several obstacles, one of is patient adherence to the treatment. Patient adherence is a considerable determinator that influenced by a number factors including the adverse drug reaction (ADR) which appeared to the patients. This study aimed to examine the correlation between adverse drug reaction and patients’ adherence to the anti-tuberculosis category 1 regimen during the intensive phase. This observational analytic study used cross sectional method and involved 35 subjects. Drug adherence level was measured using Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire, the characteristics of ADR were collected using check list sheet of ADR, and the probability of ADR was analyzed using Naranjo Algorithm. The results showed that the majority of patients in this study were adherence to anti tuberculosis drugs (62,8%) and experienced ADR (74,3%). Bivariate analysis using chi-square statistical test showed there was significant correlation between adverse drug reaction and adherence to anti-tuberculosis drugs during the intensive phase treatment (P-value = 0,02288).

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Marketed pharmaceutical dosage forms must be checked to ensure that the drug in distribution meets the quality requirements. The Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometric method will provide new innovations which are low cost, environmental friendly, simple, and rapid for analysis. The aim of this research was to develop a single analytical method that can be used to determine levels of three different statin derivatives (simvastatin, atorvastatin, and rosuvastatin) in tablet preparations. The method used in this study was Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometric, a very simple sample preparation stage by solvent extraction with minimal solvent extraction without potassium bromide and without pellet press. The specific wave numbers of simvastatin, atorvastatin, and rosuvastatin were determined between 4000 cm–1 to 650 cm–1. The Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometric method had been successfully developed and successfully applied to the determination of levels of simvastatin, atorvastatin, and rosuvastatin in marketed tablet preparations containing single active pharmaceutical ingredient. The specific wave numbers of simvastatin, atorvastatin, and rosuvastatin obtained was 1712.7 cm–1; 1660.5 cm–1; and 965.4 cm–1, respectively. The results obtained in the content determination based on the peak height and peak area fulfill the requirements for active pharmaceutical ingredient assay ranging from 90.00% to 110.00%. The developed method has also been validated for accuracy, precision, specificity, linearity, range, limit of detection, and limit of quantitation. Thus, this method can be a valid alternative method, cheap, green, easy, and fast in determination of the levels of simvastatin, atorvastatin, and rosuvastatin in tablet preparations. Abstract

Male infertility has occurred rapidly in the last few decades, primarily in developing countries. An antioxidant, hesperetin is a flavonoid that is found in abundance in orange peels. The aims of this research were to determine the effect of hesperetin on blood sugar levels, spermatozoaquality, and spermatozoa quantity. The research structure included induction of diabetes mellitus and treatment for 8 weeks, followed bydetermination of blood sugar levels, spermatozoa quality, and spermatozoa quantity. Hesperetin has the ability to restore blood sugar levels, spermatozoa quantity, seminiferous tubules diameter, and testicular weight, volume, and germinal epithelial layer thickness with significant difference from the normal control group. Hesperetin did not fully restore spermatozoa motility, viability, and morphology with significant difference from the normal control group, nor from the positive control group. However, overall, hesperetin decreased blood glucose levels, increased spermatozoa quantity, and improved the spermatozoa quality in alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus mice. Dose-dependent activity was observed with the optimum dose at 200 mg/kg body weight.
