Abstract

The determination of ampicillin in tablets of branded and generic names by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) had been carried out. Using column selectosphere C18 (25cm x 4,6 mm) as stationary phase; water : acetonitrile : potassium phosphate 1 M : acetic acid 1 N (909+80+10+1) V/V as mobile phase; flow rate = 2,5 ml/minute; sensitivity = 0,08 AUFS and uv detector at 254 nm wave length. Identification of ampicillin BPFI, ampicillin (Pharos), and ampicillin in tablets of branded and generic names got the retention time 5 minutes.Determination of calibration curve linearity showed a linear correlation between the peak area versus concentrations from 200 to 700 g/ml with the correlation coefficient, r = 0,9984 and got the equation of regression Y = 249,89 X - 4305,15. The recovery test of ampicillin (Pharos) showed the concentration 99,36%104,76% with deviation standard = 1,6447; relative error = 2,06% and coefficient of variation = 1,61%. The quantification of ampicillin in tablets with generic names showed the concentration = 99,69%104,99% (PT. Indofarma); 91,03%97,53% (PT. Phapros); 95,70%102, 44% (PT. Farma); and for tablets of branded names namely : Binotal (PT. Bayer) = 93,38%99,44%; Kalpicillin (PT. Kalbe Farma) = 91,41%97, 95%; Parpicilin (PT, Prafa) = 97,19%101,67% and Cetacilin (PT. Soho) = 95,60%98,58%. All samples fulfilled the requirement of Farmakope Indonesia fourth edition (1995) namely containing ampicillin not less than 90,0% and not more than 120,0% from the label declared.Key words : HPLC, Ampicillin, assay

Abstract

Antibiotics are commonly used as food additives in broiler farms and their use tends to be excessive regardless and incorrect that can leave some antibiotic residues in chicken meat. The aimed of this study was to analyze on antibiotic residues level amoxicillin and tetracycline in chicken meat sold in Medan. The antibiotic residues analysis was conducted by extracting the antibiotic from chicken meat with water and acetonitrile (2:8, v/v) and detected by high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry detector using C-18 column (4.6 mm i.d., length 30 mm, particle size 1.8 µm) at 35 oC, with the mobile phases, 0.1 % formic acid solution in water and 0.1 % formic acid solution in methanol with gradient elution technique at a flow rate of 0.5 ml/minute. The result exhibited that the chicken meat that were collected from five markets in Medan apparently contained antibiotic residues tetracycline . The level of tetracyclin residue in chicken meat was 0.1157-1.4436 µg/g, which exceed the maximum level for tetracyclin residue allowed in foodstuffs of animal origin which is 0.1 ug/g. Abstract

Narigunung 1 village is one of the villages located in Tiganderket District, Karo Regency, and North Sumatra Province. The community in this village consists of 150 heads of households whereby 90% earn a living by farming. The community manages various kinds of horticulture plants, especially vegetables and fruits, i.e. corn. The Geographic Village, which is located near to (± 8 km) the bottom of Sinabung mount, causes people often get crop failures, since the hot wind released from the Sinabung mount. Especially at the dry season, since the village is far from the source of water, therefore only relies on rain drops both for daily needs and for their agricultural lands. Failure of this harvest can reduce the economic welfare level of the community in the village. This community service activity was carried out, with the aim to stimulate the farmers and the community in Narigunung 1 village to make cracker businesses as a means of improving community welfare. The activity was carried out in the form of lectures, discussions, practice of making crackers from corn cobs, dissemination of food additives that were good for health, and the distribution of modules. After this service activity, the community in Narigunung 1 has been able to make crackers by utilizing corn cob which increases the economic value of the corn cob, using a grinding machine as a transfer knowledge of science and technology in the community and gain comprehensive knowledge about additional ingredients that are good for health.

Abstract

The Indonesian Malay Customary Community (MABMI) is one of the Malay communities in Indonesia, and one of them is located in the city of Binjai, North Sumatra. This organization has many members and is active in carrying out various activities. Members of MABMI in Binjai, who are mostly mothers and elderly (over 60 years old), often complain that they often experience health problems, especially joint pain or muscle pain, which sometimes interfere with their daily life activities. The number of MABMI members in Binjai city who work as housewives, so it is very potential if you want to do entrepreneurial activities at each home so that it can help in improving the family economy. This community service is useful in providing one of the solutions and alternatives for mothers to solve joint health problems that they often experience by providing education and training to make anti-pain balm so that the hope can be used alone if needed. In addition, the team also tried to provide stimulation for mothers who want to do business by developing this anti-pain balm preparation. Education about health products that are safe to use and further information about joint and muscle pain will also be provided by the service team.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan mengenai pembuatan Virgin Coconut Oil secara sederhana dan memberikan pengetahuan bahwa Virgin Coconut Oil dalam meningkatkan imunitas tubuh sehingga dapat menangani atau mencegah semakin berkembangnya pasien positif Covid-19. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang ditujukan kepada masyarakat di Kelurahan Gedung Johor, Kecamatan Medan Johor, Medan. Pemahaman masyarakat terhadap manfaat dan kandungan VCO serta cara pembuatan VCO yang benar, sederhana dan dengan tetap memperhatikan kualitas dari VCO yang dibuat, dilihat berdasarkan mutu fisik meliputi warna, bau dan rasa yang dihasilkan VCO buatan sendiri dan VCO dari Palm Mustika yaitu normal untuk bau dan rasa serta berwarna putih hingga kuning pucat. Mutu kimia VCO buatan sendiri yang didominasi asam laurat yaitu 53,2% sedangkan VCO dari Mustika Palem yaitu 49,4%. asam lemak bebas (FFA) VCO buatan sendiri yaitu 0,38% sedangkan asam lemak bebas (FFA) VCO Mustika Palem yaitu 0,08%, bilangan peroksida VCO buatan sendiri yaitu 0,06 meq/kg sedangkan bilangan peroksida VCO Mustika Palem yaitu 0,00 meq/kg dan bilanga penyabunan VCO buatan sendiri yaitu 252,74 mg KOH/gram sedangkan bilangan penyabunan VCO Mustika Palem yaitu 253,13 mg KOH/gram.

Abstract

The first line drug given for monotherapy for diabetes mellitus type 2 is metformin hydrochloride, which is a biguanide antihyperglycemic drug. The aim of this research was to develop, validate, and apply the Fourier Transform Infrared spectrophotometry method to identify and determine metformin hydrochloride in marketed tablet dosage form. This research included preparation of standard, analysis of samples, and validation of method. The specific wavenumber obtained for qualitative analysis was 1645.68 cm–1 and 1574.8 cm–1. The specific area obtained for quantitative analysis with a single baseline ranged from 1701.53 cm–1 to 1535.66 cm–1. All metformin hydrochloride marketed tablet dosage forms were analyzed and met all of the qualitative and quantitative requirements. The methods met the requirements of method validation for accuracy with a percentage of recovery of 100.22 %, precision with relative standard deviation of 0.48 %, linearity with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992, limit of detection of 11.17 mg per mL, limit of quantitation of 33.84 mg per mL, and good specificity results. In this study, the Fourier Transform Infrared spectrophotometry method was successfully developed and validated for application in identification and determination of metformin hydrochloride in marketed tablet dosage form.

Abstract

COVID-19 merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh coronavirus dan sudah menyebar hampir ke seluruh negara di dunia termasuk Indonesia. Desa Sei Rampah merupakan salah satu desa yang bertempat di Kecamatan Sei Rampah, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Lokasi yang berdekatan dengan kota Medan menyebabkan sebaran virus corona juga terjadi di daerah ini. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bermanfaaat dalam memberikan salah satu solusi dan alternatif kepada masyarakat Desa Sei Rampah dalam menyelesaikan masalah kesehatan yang sedang mewabah. Tim akan melakukan sosialisasi dan edukasi cara pencegahan infeksi Covid-19. Disamping itu, akan disediakan hand sanitizer dengan formula sesuai standar WHO yang disiapkan oleh tim pengabdian sekaligus mengedukasi cara penggunaan dan pembuatannya sehingga dapat menstimulasi para masyarakat di Desa Sei Rampah untuk dapat membuat hand sanitizer sendiri.

Abstract

Desa Liang Pematang merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Desa ini terletak di daerah dataran tinggi sehingga kondisi tanah sangat subur untuk budidaya berbagai jenis tanaman, baik tanaman komoditi seperti bawang merah, sayur-sayuran, maupun buah-buahan seperti salak dan juga tanaman berkhasiat obat. Berbagai tanaman obat baik yang tumbuh secara liar atau tumbuh di pekarangan rumah tumbuh dengan subur di desa tersebut.  Namun, tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang potensi pemanfaatan tanaman obat di sekitar mereka yang rendah dan ketidaktahuan akan potensi tanaman herbal yang bernilai ekonomi menyebabkan tidak adanya penggunaan tanaman tersebut. Pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan untuk memberikan edukasi dan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat tentang manfaat dan kelebihan tanaman obat sebagai obat tradisional dibandingkan dengan pengobatan secara kimia. Evaluasi pengetahuan masyarakat dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuisioner terhadap para peserta setelah kegiatan selesai. Pelaksanaan edukasi berjalan dengan baik dan masyarakat sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan yang dilakukan. Hasil analisis kuisioner menunjukkan bahwa pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan mampu menambah pengetahuan masyarakat tetang manfaat tanaman obat sebagai obat tradisional dan tidak ragu untuk memanfaatkan tanaman herbal untuk menjaga kesehatan mereka. Kesadaran akan pentingnya pengembangan tanaman herbal dapat meningkatkan animo masyarakat untuk mengembangkan tanaman tersebut sehingga dapat bernilai ekonomi dan juga meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga

Abstract

This study aims to determine the levels of macro minerals such as potassium, calcium, sodium, and magnesium in fresh noni fruit. The sample of noni fruit was destructed, then quantitative analysis of potassium, calcium, sodium, and magnesium were performed using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) at a wavelength 766.5 nm for potassium; 422.7 nm for calcium; 589.0 nm for sodium; and 285.2 nm for magnesium. The advantages of this method are selective and sensitive. The average % recoveries were obtained in 109.7 % for potassium; 96.4 % for calcium; 99.7 % for sodium; and 92.4 % for magnesium. This method is very suitable for determining mineral content in fruit as shown in the recovery results and in accordance with the validation requirements.

Abstract

Metamizole is a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) that functions as an analgesic, antipyretic, and antiinflammatory. Examination of active substance contents is a requirement that must be met to ensure the quality of drug preparations. The aims of this study were to develop and validate the Fourier Transform Infrared spectrophotometric method for the quantitation of metamizole content in marketed tablet preparation. Identification and determination of metamizole contents by Fourier Transform Infrared spectrophotometric method used methanol solvent in the wavenumber range 4000 cm–1 to 650 cm–1. The results showed that the specific wavenumbers of metamizole were 1649.3 cm–1; 1623.3 cm–1; and 1589.7 cm–1; and the contents metamizole in marketed tablet preparation ranged from (97.954 ± 0.121)% to (104.541 ± 0.257)%. From the validation method, the recovery result is 100.129%; the relative standard deviation is 0.057%; the limit of detection is 2.09526 mg/mL; the limit of quantitation is 6.34928 mg/mL; and the range 40 mg/mL to 60 mg/mL. The quantitation of metamizole contents can be carried out by Fourier Transform Infrared spectrophotometric method with accurate and precise quantitation results.
