Abstract

Parents' concerns in terms of monitoring the presence and monitoring of children's activities become one of the problems that are often faced. Training children to prepare themselves to face this sometimes dangerous world, first develop a sense of security in themselves. The objectives of this research are to generate a system or application to track the whereabouts of children through smartphones that can be used by both parents of the child and to design devices that can be used practically and children can be traced to the presence of wireless media by their parents. Improved supervision of children is needed without reducing the freedom of children to learn and explore their environment. One alternative that allows tracking the presence, location, and accuracy is quite good is to use a Geo Positioning System (GPS). This GPS is packaged in a flexible form so that it can help make it easier for parents to supervise their children in the range of areas that are still accessible to them and find the child's position when separated from their parents. The system can send the location information of children who are lost or lost on smartphone applications used by parents.

Abstract

Reinforced concrete is used in various constructions, such as buildings, bridges, dams, road pavement, tunnels, etc. Structural strengthening of reinforced concrete beam can be done in various ways, which one is the addition of steel plates bonded to the compression area. Steel plates with a width of 150 mm and 300 mm with a thickness of 2 mm are expected to increase the compressive strength of reinforced concrete beams. Plate installation uses Sikadur 31 CF-Normal adhesive to attach steel plates and beams, and it is hoped that composite properties will occur on both of them. The test object samples were 5 beams consisting of 1 control beam and 4 reinforcement beams with a quality of 10 MPa. The beam sample has dimensions of 75 mm flange width and 80 mm flange height, 150 mm bottom width, 250 mm h height, 300 mm top width. The flexural strength test was carried out with a loading frame in two-point loading. The results of the study of adding plates showed an increase in beam capacity compared to the control beam. The percentage increase in beam capacity of test objects BP 1(1) and BP 1(2) with 150 mm wide plate reinforcement was 17.19% and 18.85%. The increase in beam capacity of BP 2(1) and BP 2(2) specimens with 300 mm wide plate reinforcement was 26.82% and 28.02% respectively

Abstract

Differences in students’ cognitive style aspects allow for differences in students’ conceptions of their understanding of Newton’s laws. This study aims to determine the profile of students’ conceptions in-depth based on their cognitive styles. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenological design involving cognitive style tests with GEFT (Group Embedded Figured Test) on 30 students to be categorized based on their cognitive styles. From the 30 participants, three strongly field-dependent and three strongly field-independent students were selected. Six selected students were diagnosed using a four-tier diagnostic instrument for their understanding and conceptions. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted to investigate the students’ conceptions in depth. This study concludes that field-independent (FI) students frequently display an inclination toward analytical thinking by self-exploring. However, they frequently experience difficulties in analyzing concepts without a solid foundation in physics, which can result in certain theoretical misconceptions. Conversely, field-dependent (FD) students can receive a broader range of information but demonstrate difficulties in analytical tasks, such as interpreting graphs and establishing causal relationships between physical quantities, which can result in correlational misconceptions. To rectify this misconception, it is imperative to implement a bespoke pedagogical strategy that integrates efficacious elucidations, tangible exemplifications, structured scaffolding, inquiry, and methodical practical exercises.

Abstract

Assessment is considered important for improving students’ performance and contributing to better teaching and more efficient learning. This research aims to explore how EFL teacher implement the learning assessment in the class, and the challenges faced by teacher in conducting the assessment. Thus, this research was conducted at one of vocational schools in Majalengka. This research employs a narrative inquiry as the research design. This research use observation, document analysis and interview as the data collection method. The observation was conducted two times at eleventh-grade class and the interview was delivered to an English teacher. The researcher analyzed the teacher document, to determine whether they comply with the guidelines of the Kurikulum Merdeka. The research reveals that the teacher effectively implements formative and summative assessments in line with government guidelines. Formative assessments occur during group discussions with ongoing feedback, while summative assessments involve group presentations at the end of a unit to evaluate students' comprehension of report texts. These assessments incorporate Profil Pelajar Pancasila values, namely collaboration and creativity. The assessments adhere to principles of language assessment, including practicality, reliability, validity, authenticity, and positive washback. Practicality is seen in manageable tasks, reliability in clear scoring rubrics, validity in content alignment with learning objectives, authenticity in real-world language use, and washback in motivating students and boosting their confidence. The limited class time poses a challenge, making it difficult for the teacher to provide detailed feedback.
