Abstract

The psychological issue in knowledge management faced by many national and international institutions is on how to implement one of its elements, i.e. knowledge sharing behaviour in which it is not simple. This study aims to determine the direct correlation of helping behaviour and knowledge sharing behaviour and the indirect correlation of both variables mediated by Islamic work ethics. It involved the employees of private higher institutions in Yogyakarta with certain categories by using knowledge sharing behaviour scale from Yi, helping behaviour scale from Duang, Wong and Yue and Islamic work ethics scale from Ali and Al-Owaihan. The results of the direct analysis of helping behaviour and knowledge-sharing behaviour obtained the value of 0.001, meaning that they were positively related and very significant, but the F test results or their contribution only reached 13.2%. Meanwhile, the results of the indirect relationship analysis showed that the Islamic work ethic acted as a moderator with a significance value of 0.035 and an F-test result of 0.243 or 24.3%. It meant that, as a moderator, Islamic work ethics played a role in increasing the relationship between helping behaviour and knowledge sharing behaviour by 11.1%.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the thoughts, attitudes, and actions of Islamic religious authorities (ulama, kyai, or ustad) concerning the COVID-19 epidemic. This investigation was prompted by the fact of the enormous number of kyai or ulama who were exposed to COVID-19. The research technique ised mixed methods, essentially mixing qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The participants involved in the first (qualitative) stage were 14 persons, 13 males and 1 woman. They are Islamic religious figures who live in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The second step was conducted by utilizing a questionnaire (Google form) and succeeded to gather 85 participants. The findings indicated that although all the participants were Ahlussunah Wal Jamaah (NU and Muhammadiyah), the discrepancies in their ideas, attitudes, and conduct regarding the COVID-19 epidemic were obvious. On average, Muhammadiyah is more inclined or tends to think towards complete endeavour, or its method of thinking tends to be Jabariyah, whereas NU is more likely to think towards entire submission or Qodariah, however certain situations are the contrary. This data demonstrates that in the face of a novel phenomena involving an unknown virus such as COVID-19, Indonesian Muslims, particularly Islamic religious leaders, cling to what they believe, not changing the norm.

Abstract

Increasing the organizational commitment of employees or staff is one way to increase organizational performance so that it remains competitive and resilient. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between servant leadership and interpersonal communication and Islamic work ethics as mediators with the organizational commitment of journal managers. Quantitative methods were used with (online) questionnaires distributed to universities in Indonesia. The novelty of this research is using measuring instruments for interpersonal communication and organizational commitment that are different from several previous studies. The research results show that all independent variables are significantly related to organizational commitment factors, except interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication has no significant relationship with organizational commitment (P=0.822), but when mediated by Islamic work ethics it has a significant relationship with organizational commitment (P=0.001). This means that Islamic work ethics become a full mediator of interpersonal communication relationships and organizational commitment. The influence of leadership factors on organizational commitment is very strong (P=0.001). On the other hand, when mediated by Islamic work ethics, the influence decreases (P=0.004).

Abstract

Indonesia is a nation marked by extensive diversity encompassing a myriad of languages, ethnicities, and religious affiliations. While some studies support the positive implications associated with this diversity, others argue that it harbors the potential for social discord, particularly within distinct religious communities. This research aims to scrutinize the dynamics of mature religious sentiment and Islamic knowledge concerning Muslim-Christian relations, specifically exploring their impact on social prejudice among Muslim students, who constitute the majority and hold prejudicial views towards Christians. The investigation was conducted among Muslim students aged 18-22 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia (N = 254). Employing the structural equation model (SEM) technique for analysis, the findings reveal that mature religious sentiment exerts a direct influence on social prejudice, both independently and mediated through the agreeableness trait. Additionally, Islamic knowledge pertaining to the Muslim-Christian relationship directly influences social prejudice without the intermediary of agreeableness.
