Abstract

The purpose of PKM activities is to help solve the problems of partners to become independent and lead to a productive economy by utilizing corncob waste. The PKM partner is corn farmers in Desa Saentis which is ± 25 km or 40 minutes from UMN Al-Washliyah. The partner priority issues are ; (1) aspects of production, including; a) partners do not have the knowledge and skills in processing corncobs; b) partners never to training processing corncobs from the government or the private sector; c) partners don’t have the appropriate technology to process corncobs into handicraft items. (1) aspects of production, including: a) Focus Group Discussion on the potential of corn waste into handicraft items; b) the use of appropriate technology in the form of grinding machines and hacksaw to make handicrafts from corncobs; c) Benchmarking partners corn cob crafter; and d) training to design handicraft made from corn cobs. Output targets include: 1) grinding machines and hacksaw; 2) enhancing partner skills in the production of handicraft items made from corn cobs; 3) design of handicraft made from corn cobs such as tissue boxes, decorative lamps, placemats.

Abstract

This study focuses on the landscape architecture of culinary tourism objects in the paddy field area of Desa Kota Pari. The research aims to explore the potential of utilizing the natural and cultural elements of the site to create attractive and sustainable culinary tourism experiences. The study follows a qualitative descriptive approach, starting with an inventory stage to collect data on the existing conditions of the research location. Information about the unique motifs and ornaments of Desa Kota Pari is also gathered for the design and development concepts. The collected data is analyzed, considering physical and environmental, demographic, economic, and cultural aspects. From this analysis, various design and development concepts are formulated. These concepts include spatial zoning, tourist facilities, hardscape and softscape elements reflecting the local culture.Using 2D CAD applications and Photoshop, a site plan is created for the Pematang Sawah area, complemented by 3D visualizations. The research findings emphasize the potential of the paddy field area as a culinary tourism destination. By integrating the natural and cultural elements into the design, a sustainable and engaging experience can be created.

Abstract

The increase in housing development in Indonesia often faces environmental sustainability challenges. To overcome this, the concept of greenship homes was introduced as a solution that supports environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and sustainable housing. This study aims to implement the Greenship Homes standard with the target of achieving the Gold rating on type 36 houses. The research method involves literature study, energy simulation, and quantitative and qualitative analysis of home design elements. This research focuses on energy and air use efficiency, waste management, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and the maintenance of natural waste. The results show that through certain design strategies, type 36 homes can qualify for a Gold rating in the Greenship Homes system. This implementation not only has a positive impact on the environment, but also increases the comfort of residents and the economic value of the property. This research is a practical guide for developers and architects to realize more sustainable housing in the future.

Abstract

Over time, physical and non-physical changes can affect the existence of Traditional buildings. The current phenomenon begins with a social shift in society that is inseparable from the influence of several factors. First, advances in communication technology make humans live in practicality. Second, is the influence of foreign cultures (Westernization). Building conservation can be an option in maintaining and improving the preservation of Traditional Buildings by paying attention to the usefulness, social function, and cultural meaning behind the pattern or style of the building. This study aims to determine the existence of Malay Traditional Buildings and Houses that have decreased conditions and even are almost extinct, so it is necessary to carry out sustainable conservation to maintain the existence of buildings or improve building conditions. The variables raised relating to the approach of aspects that influence the decision to conserve traditional buildings are; classification of structures, construction philosophy (ethics, thinking, existence, time, meaning, and value), the structural strength of the material, material components, the concept of preservation, and community empowerment. The research location is the Malay Traditional Building in East Sumatra, Serdang Bedagai Regency, which is still lived by the owner or his relatives. Research data consists of resources that exist at the research site, both physical data and non-physical data. First, physical data is obtained through the existence of Traditional buildings along with building components. Second, non-physical data can be known through local people's knowledge of culture in development to get supporting factors for conservation. The analysis is carried out using descriptive qualitative methods. Data was collected with literature reviews, interviews, and observations at several Traditional Building locations to obtain data on Traditional buildings. The discovery will result in how much influence these supporting factors have on preserving Traditional Houses, especially in East Sumatra, Indonesia.
