Abstract

Writing a thesis proposal is an important part of undergraduate education. However, many students face difficulties in writing a thesis proposal, such as selecting an appropriate topic and systematic preparation. In technological developments, ChatGPT can help students in the process of writing a thesis proposal by providing writing assistance, critical thinking, and other information. This research aims to gain the perception and challenges of students in using ChatGPT in assisting them writing their thesis proposals. To get to these aims, the researcher implemented a research and development design by using qualitative methods.. This research was conducted at Al Asyariah Mandar University . The subjects of this research were the seventh semester students of Mathematic Education and Bahasa Indonesia Education in the academic year 2023-2024. In this study, students will be interviewed and asked to share their experiences, the effectiveness and challenges on the assistance of chatgpt in writing their thesis proposals. In the interview results, ChatGPT helps users in finding thesis proposal titles, give information and ideas in building introductions, and providing alternative solutions to deepen the understanding of the proposal. It is important to consider and verify information with more reliable and accurate sources. The use of ChatGPT in writing thesis proposals is an interesting and effective alternative, but users also need to remain critical and selective in utilizing it. In further research, more interviews and case studies need to be conducted to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the use of ChatGPT in writing thesis proposals. Although ChatGPT has limitations, respondents consider its use to improve productivity and learning efficiency. Therefore, the use of ChatGPT can be considered as an attractive alternative in writing thesis proposals, while maintaining a critical approach in utilizing it and verifying the information provided.

Abstract

English proficiency is necessary in our globalized era for both career advancement and academic achievement. Teachers at SMKN 8 Majene have tried a variety of educational approaches, but students' English language achievement has continuously lagged below the average of 5.5. The purpose of this study is to determine whether employing TikTok as a learning tool may improve students' engagement and English language proficiency. 32 students from SMKN 8 Majene's class XI participated in a quasi-experimental design. TikTok was a learning aid employed by the experimental group, whilst conventional teaching techniques were used by the control group. To gauge the learning outcomes, both groups received pre- and post-tests.The average post-test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher (69.2) than those of the control group (64.0). The results suggest that TikTok effectively enhances student engagement and English language achievement

Abstract

Beginners in English face multiple obstacles in their language learning journey. One of the most significant challenges is building a sufficient vocabulary base, which is crucial for comprehension and communication. This research investigates the effect of integrating the Educaplay application with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance vocabulary output in beginner-level English learners. Conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 3 Parepare with a pre-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest), the study involved 16 fourth-grade students. Students were given vocabulary instruction through six sessions of Educaplay-based PBL. Findings showed a significant increase in vocabulary output, with the mean score improving from 61.56 (pretest) to 84.69 (posttest). The t-test value (1.91) exceeded the t-table value (1.75), indicating a statistically significant difference. Students also demonstrated a 93% average level of interest based on questionnaire results. . the findings robustly support the effectiveness of integrating the Educaplay application within a Problem-Based Learning model for beginner English students, yielding significant improvements in vocabulary acquisition and fostering a very high level of learning interest This study confirms that Educaplay, when implemented within the PBL framework, effectively enhances vocabulary acquisition and student engagement in English for beginners.
