Abstract

To survive the Covid-19 epidemic, businesses must employ innovative and important methods, one of which is functional food diversification for product expansion and higher selling value. However, some beginner entrepreneurs still do not understand this strategy, which causes the business to not develop, including what is experienced by partners. The goal of this community service project is to expand partners' knowledge of the marketing of diverse functional food products made from ginger, which was previously done in product production training. Marketing knowledge was provided through counseling methods related to digital marketing, packaging selection, and product licensing. The partners of this activity are the PKK group of RW 06 Rungkut Lor, Rungkut District, Surabaya. Participatory Action Research (PAR) with a counseling mechanism is the community service strategy adopted. Evaluation of increased knowledge using the pretest and posttest methods. The questions' components include the marketing process, marketing mix, digital marketing, general understanding of product licensing, and information related to NIB, PIRT permits, halal certificates, and BPOM food permits. According to the evaluation findings, there was a 9.59% gain in expertise in digital marketing outreach efforts and a 33.33% rise in product licensing outreach activities. It is envisaged that this increase in learning would aid in the resolution of partner product marketing issues and boost partner economic welfare.

The jasmine plant has an excellent opportunity to be developed as a raw material for aromatherapy products. The inmates of the Surabaya Class 1 Correctional Institution (LP) have the potential for this development because it is programmed for entrepreneurial activities. Moreover, the LP's land is suitable for the agricultural sector, especially jasmine plants. However, the inmates' understanding of jasmine cultivation is less, and they do not have the skills to make aromatherapy products. Based on these potentials and problems, a program was carried out to increase inmates' knowledge and skills in utilizing the potential of jasmine flowers in Surabaya Class 1 LP. Activities are carried out through counseling and training for ten inmates, which is evaluated using pretest and posttest methods. The results of empowerment activities showed an increase in the understanding of the inmates regarding the cultivation of jasmine plants, reaching 51.28%, and the understanding regarding extraction and aromatherapy reached 21.26%. Moreover, the inmates continued to practice cultivation after completing the activity. Expectations from implementing this program are that the knowledge and skills that the inmates have acquired can be taught to other inmates and utilized in the field of entrepreneurship when the inmate period is completed.

Abstract

Drosera sp. is an insectivorous plant with secondary metabolites, including naphthoquinones which can be used as antibacterial agents. Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium that often causes nosocomial infections, such as ARI. This research aims to determine the antibacterial activity of four Drosera species, namely D. burmannii, D. sessilifolia, D. capillaris, and D. filiformis, against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The agar diffusion method was employed in antibacterial testing by measuring the inhibition zone. The inhibition zone measured using a 7,000 ppm concentration of Drosera sp. ethanolic extract was 6.74 ± 0.21 mm, 9.21 ± 0.32 mm, 18.18 ± 0.60 mm, and 15.67 ± 0.37 mm for D. burmannii, D. sessilifolia, D. capillaris, and D. filiformis, respectively. The largest value was produced by D. capillaris which was close to 19.73 ± 0.55 mm from the positive control (chloramphenicol). The four Drosera sp. extracts have antibacterial potential against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923.Keywords – Antibacterial activity, Drosera sp., Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

The production and marketing operations of small traditional medicine businesses (UKOT) in Indonesia heavily depend on the availability and choice of distributors of herbal products as well as suppliers of raw materials. The guarantee of accuracy and convenience of access to supplier and distributor data at UKOT PT X in Surabaya, East Java, can be supported by an internal information system that includes a database of East Java suppliers and distributors. Data was gathered via an interview with the Responsible Pharmacist (APJ) and documentation on PT X's records. Subsequently, the completed data generated from the chosen documentation is entered into the database that is a component of PT X's internal information system. The analysis was conducted on PT X's internal database, with an emphasis on its completeness, correctness, and accessibility. This result was obtained by 80% of data completeness evaluation ranges. All respondents properly answered questions about data about finished product suppliers and distributors from PT X's internal information system database. Ninety-three percent of respondents agree that the database in PT X's information system is very easy to access in terms of data display, language, and search feature functions.
