Abstract

Kunango Jantan.

Abstract

Inventory of raw materials is very important for the smooth production of the company and meet consumer demand for the company in market demand. The demand for tire production fluctuates and causes the demand for products not to need to be met to order, due to the shortage of raw materials. To solve the shortage of raw materials, the company holds special orders in consideration of savings in ordering the cost of ordering messages. To overcome the shortage of raw materials, the company holds special orders or sudden orders which will increase the cost of the message. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum ordering of raw materials to minimize total inventory costs by using a probability model of raw material inventory control with a fixed order quantity system (Q method). From the results of research using the probabilistic model of inventory control method Q method, obtained the optimal order quantity (q*), reorder point (rop), and safety stock (ss) with total inventory costs more efficient compared to the total inventory costs of the company's current policies. what is to be achieved in inventory control is to minimize the cost of ordering, and the cost of savings to the company.

Abstract

Abstract: Viscous damping plays a crucial role in controlling mechanical vibrations by converting oscillatory energy into heat energy through a lubricating fluid. This study presents an experimental evaluation of the effect of oil viscosity on the amplitude decay characteristics of a freely oscillating damper–spring–mass system. Four commercial oils were used as damping variables, namely SAE 20, SAE 40, SAE 60, and SAE 140. The main parameters measured include logarithmic decrement (δ), damping ratio (ζ), and percentage decay amplitude over several oscillation cycles. The results show a consistent increase in damping capability with increasing viscosity; the ζ value increases from 0.08 (SAE 20) to 0.18 (SAE 140), and the percentage decay amplitude from 8.02% to 17.10%. These findings confirm that fluid viscosity selection is a key design parameter for improving energy dissipation in viscous damping systems in various applications, including vehicle suspension components and industrial dampers.

Abstract

Automation is increasingly applied in food-processing industries to enhance production efficiency. However, in onion-processing operations, peeling machines often fail to completely remove the outer skin, requiring workers to perform manual re-peeling to ensure raw-material quality. This task involves repetitive hand motions and forward-leaning postures, which may contribute to musculoskeletal strain. This study aims to evaluate the work posture of manual onion re-peeling workers using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) methods. Four workers participated in the study through direct observation, photo documentation, and questionnaire administration. NBM results indicated that the most frequent complaints occurred in the the shoulders, upper arms, elbows, forearms, wrists, and lower back. The average RULA score of 6 indicates a high-risk posture requiring prompt ergonomic intervention. The strong alignment between NBM and RULA findings reinforces the accuracy of the ergonomic diagnosis. This study highlights the need for ergonomic improvements such as workstation height adjustment, provision of lumbar-supported seating, micro-break scheduling, and simple tool redesign to reduce MSD risks and improve productivity in food-processing operations.
