Abstract

Red chilies known as Capsicum annuum L., hold significant importance as horticulture crops in Indonesia. The production of red chilies begins with the planting of seeds, making seed health a crucial factor in the process. Seeds contaminated with pathogens can serve as a reservoir for the transmission of diseases in the field, leading to the demise of seedlings and hindering their growth into fully mature plants, ultimately resulting in crop failure. This study used the blotter test technique to ascertain the morphology of a seed-borne pathogenic fungus. The research findings indicated that the blotter test technique detected four isolates of seed-borne pathogenic fungus, specifically TMIA with an infection rate of 0.5%, TMIB with an infection rate of 0.5%, TMIC with an infection rate of 2.5%, and TMIE with an infection rate of 3%. A single isolate of a seed-borne pathogenic fungus, named SRIA, was obtained from Sidodadi Ramunia village. The infection rate of this fungus was determined to be 0.5%. The chili seeds recovered were found to carry pathogenic fungal isolates belonging to Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp., Verticillium sp., and Curvularia sp. based on morphological identification

Abstract

Seed-borne fungi are fungi that are associated with seeds and can be a source of plant disease in the field. Therefore, this study aims to utilize DNA barcoding to identify seed-borne fungi isolates from Tanjung Morawa B village. This investigation took place at Tangerang's genetic science laboratory in Tangerang was the site of this investigation. Sequence and phylogenic tree building, PCR amplification with MyTaq HS Red Mix, 2X (Bioline, BIO-25048), and genomic DNA extraction with the Quick-DNA Magbead Plus Kit (Zymo Research, D4082) were the research methods used. The electrophoresis results showed that the DNA made from PCR using Primers ITS-1 and ITS-4 was of high quality. This was clear from the electrophorograms for both the TMIE isolate sample and the control. Using ITS-1 and ITS-4 for DNA amplification produced favorable results, with virtually no smears detected. The Basic Local Alignment and Search Tool (BLAST) program, which is connected to the Genebank database, was employed to analyze the sequence results in the form of a base sequence with a length of 581 base pairs. Based on the genetic similarity results of the isolate's DNA with Genebank, we determined that the TMIE isolate was 100% similar to Curvularia eragrostidis.

Abstract

Hipertensi atau tekanan darah tinggi merupakan salah satu penyakit degeneratif yang banyak diderita masyarakat di seluruh dunia. Menurut data World Health Organization (WHO), hampir satu miliar orang di dunia menderita hipertensi, dengan dua pertiga di antaranya berasal dari negara berkembang. Bawang putih dikenal luas dalam pengobatan tradisional sebagai tanaman obat yang digunakan untuk memelihara kesehatan sistem peredaran darah. Kandungan senyawa aktif berupa allicin pada bawang putih memiliki kemampuan menurunkan tekanan darah. Selain itu, bunga telang juga memiliki potensi sebagai anti hipertensi karena mengandung antioksidan tinggi, seperti flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin, yang secara ilmiah berperan dalam menurunkan tekanan darah. Kombinasi keduanya tidak hanya berpotensi secara farmakologis, tetapi juga memberikan karakteristik warna dan aroma khas, sehingga diperlukan inovasi produk yang dapat diterima konsumen secara praktis. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dikembangkan produk minuman fungsional dalam bentuk tablet effervescent yang tidak memerlukan proses pemanasan dalam pembuatannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai nilai tambah produk tablet effervescent dengan penambahan ekstrak bunga telang dan bawang putih menggunakan metode Hayami. Hasil analisis menunjukkan rasio nilai tambah sebesar 23,808%, setara dengan Rp 119.038/kg, yang tergolong tinggi. Kontribusi pendapatan tenaga kerja tercatat sebesar 2,344%, kontribusi input lain sebesar 70,241%, dan keuntungan usaha mencapai 92,124%.

Abstract

Dismenore adalah rasa nyeri pada bagian perut bawah yang dirasakan ketika sedang menstruasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan yang signifikan antara pola makan terhadap dismenore, mengetahui hubungan yang signifikan antara aktivitas fisik terhadap dismenore, mengetahui hubungan yang signifikan antara pola makan dan aktivitas fisik terhadap dismenore pada siswi SMP kelas VII Al-farabi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analitik dengan desain penelitian cross sectional. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner (angket) dan dokumentasi secara langsung. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan maka diperoleh hasil penelitian responden berumur 12 tahun sebanyak 30 orang (5,45%), umur 13 tahun sebanyak 24 orang (4,36%) dan 14 tahun sebanyak 1 orang (0,18%). Tingkat aktivitas fisik tidak baik sebanyak 37 orang (67,3%), pola makan responden yang tidak baik sebanyak (29 orang (52,7%), dan keluhan dismenore berat sebanyak 51 orang (92,7%). Tidak ada hubungan antara pola makan terhadap dismenore yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai p(0,611)>0,05, tidak ada hubungan antara aktivitas fisik terhadap dismenore dengan nilai p(1)>0,05.

Abstract

The limited understanding of MSME partners regarding pasteurization technology, particularly better pasteurization equipment, results in poor pasteurization outcomes and frequent spoilage of milk during goat milk production, such as during the milking process, pasteurization, and spoilage of goat milk due to harmful bacteria. Goat milk often spoils due to bacterial contamination and a lack of hygiene during the goat milk production process, making the milk easily damaged and its shelf life very short. and the lack of education regarding dairy product diversification, bookkeeping management, and halal certification are obstacles to the development of MSMEs. The purpose of this service is to provide milk pasteurization machinery, conduct training, and introduce modern milk pasteurization machine technology that can increase the production of goat milk by the Geshine House Partners. This service was carried out as one solution to the problems faced by partners thru training on the use of pasteurization technology, bookkeeping management, PIRT (Home Industry Permit), halal certification, and the provision of milk pasteurization equipment. The activities were conducted thru training on the use of pasteurization technology, business bookkeeping management, and halal certification training. The use of a milk pasteurization machine has improved the quality of goat milk production from Mitra's business, and has made the packaging process easier to maintain shelf life, thus optimizing the productivity of Geshine's house goat milk production.

Abstract

Community service for planting productive tree seedlings based on watersheds (DAS) in order to welcome world environment day, aims to socialize the importance of a good environment for life; cooperate with the village government and the Sejahtera Tani farmer group; introducing the types of productive tree seedlings; planting productive tree seedlings with the village government and the Sejahtera Tani farmer group. This community service activity was carried out in Kelambir V Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. This activity is a form of implementation of one of the tridharma of Higher Education, especially community service by the UNUSU academic community, as well as in the framework of UNUSU's participation in the effort to plant watershed-based productive seeds in order to welcome World Environment Day. The method of implementing community service is carried out in 3 stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the reporting stage. During the preparatory phase, socialization was carried out, determining socialization areas, identifying needs, coordinating with relevant village officials, preparing proposals and completing supporting documents. In the implementation phase, declaration is carried out, planting productive DAS-based seeds, socializing planting productive DAS-based seeds, monitoring, at the reporting stage, namely compiling a final report on community service activities. The result of this community service activity is planting productive trees around the watershed and in the gardens of farmer groups, which total 100 productive tree seeds including matoa, simpur, jamblang, duku, rambutan, longan, tamarind seeds.

Abstract

Snacks play an important role in providing energy and other nutritional intake for school-aged children. Children's consumption of snacks is expected to contribute energy and other nutrients that are useful for children's growth. Bread is a food that is popular with people because it has a simple shape, so it is often chosen as a breakfast food before starting daily activities or as a snack to fill the stomach before the actual meal time arrives. Community service activities are carried out at Tahfidzul Qur'an Amanah Middle School in Sei Mencirim, Deli Serdang Regency. The aim is to increase students' understanding of the importance of healthy snacks and the potential dangers of additives contained in processed foods. This activity was carried out on December 7, 2023, including a pre-test to assess students' knowledge about healthy snacks, a comprehensive educational session about the importance of a healthy diet and the dangers of additives, as well as a post-test to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Apart from that, practical demonstrations were carried out on how to turn bread into healthier snacks, especially chocolate rolls. The results of the pre-test and post-test show a significant increase in students' understanding of healthy snacks. The success of this activity shows the potential of similar interventions in promoting health education and better eating habits among school students.
