Abstract

Abstract

This article explores the role of simulations in enhancing critical thinking skills within the realm of science education. In today's rapidly evolving world, the ability to think critically is paramount, particularly in scientific fields where understanding complex concepts and navigating uncertainty are essential. Traditional instructional methods often fall short in promoting critical thinking, necessitating innovative approaches. Simulations offer dynamic, experiential learning opportunities that engage students in active problem-solving, decision-making, and collaborative exploration. By simulating real-world phenomena and laboratory experiments, simulations provide students with immersive experiences that foster deeper understanding and the application of scientific principles. This abstract encapsulates the importance of simulations in cultivating critical thinking skills and highlights their potential to shape the next generation of scientifically literate individuals.

Abstract

Expansion of planting areas by utilizing sub-optimal land and the use of superior varieties is one of the alternatives in increasing soybean production in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the growth of three soybean varieties on Ultisol land in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. This activity was conducted from September to November of 2022. The soybean varieties used in this study were Dena 1, Devon 1, and Demas 1. This research was designed using a Randomized Group Design with 1 factor, namely the type of variety with 3 groups of replications. The observation results of each treatment were analyzed statistically. If F count is greater than F table, then continued with Tukey's Further Test at the 5% level. It was concluded that some of the observed characters of the three soybean varieties showed that there were significant differences in growth in the observation of plant height and leaf area index. While in the observation of plant growth rate and the ratio of crown: root there was no significant difference between the tested varieties.

Abstract

This study examines teachers” TPACK skills in integrating local wisdom into IPAS learning to develop the Pancasila student profile at SD Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are questionnaires, observation sheets, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis techniques use descriptive, quantitative, and qualitative methods. The results showed that teachers had implemented TPACK even though they did not realise the practice was included in the TPACK framework. The highest aspects were PK and TPK, while the lowest were TK and TCK. Local wisdom-based learning successfully stimulates the dimensions of the Pancasila learner profile, such as faith, creativity, independence, and mutual cooperation. However, the achievement of Pancasila learner profile indicators is still in the range of 36-75% due to the lack of teacher training. The recommendation is to increase TPACK training, especially in the TK and TCK aspects, and understanding of the Merdeka curriculum.

Abstract

Giant false sensitive plants (Mimosa invisa Colla) and giant sensitive plants (Mimosa pigra L.) are invasive plant species in the tropics and native to America. They are widely distributed in different ecosystems and soil types. Apart from being considered woody shrub weeds, these plant species can be used as herbal medicine for their antioxidant activities. An experiment to study the antioxidant activities and phytochemicals of M. invisa and M. pigra grown at 200 m from the coastline and close to the riverbank (riparian abandoned land) was carried out from March to November 2023. Weed leaves were collected as purposive randomized sampling from different terrestrial habitats in the City of Padang, West Sumatra. Antioxidant activity was identified according to a 2-2-diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazil (DPPH) radical-scavenging assay, and phytochemical compounds were identified qualitatively. Results demonstrate that M. invisa had mild antioxidant activity and M. pigra had strong antioxidant activity. The IC50 values for M. invisa grown at 200 m from the coastline and at the riverbank were 121.3 ± 11.5 and 105.6 ± 2.90 ppm, respectively. The IC50 values of M. pigra grown at 200 m from the coastline and at the riverbank were 80.6 ± 15.9 and 85.1 ± 9.03 ppm, respectively. Phenolic, saponin, and steroid were detected in all weeds grown at different habitats. However, alkaloids and terpenoids were not detected. Interestingly, flavonoid was not detected in the leaves of M. pigra grown at the riverbank.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on all fields, including education. LAZISMU has a big responsibility to help communities affected by Covid-19, especially students in Belitung, through the foster parent program to help orphans and students from underprivileged families. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Philanthropy program of the LAZISMU foster parents movement in the Belitung Regency. The method used was to use program evaluation with the CIPP evaluation model. This study indicated that the program has been running well but still needs to be improved so that the program's performance is more optimal. Assistance in tuition fees has been distributed appropriately according to the background in the form of programs. However, many other needs still need attention, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Overall the implementation of the program has been going well but needs to be improved.

Abstract

Tourism has long been recognized as an economic sector that can have a significant positive impact on economic and social development at the global level. The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) notes that the global tourism sector has experienced a significant increase from year to year, contributing to national income and job creation. Tourism is an important sector that supports economic and social development, both globally, nationally and locally. In Indonesia, especially the Bangka Belitung Islands, this sector has great potential to support the creative economy and sustainable development. To maximize this potential, innovation is needed through Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, especially in developing tourist destination recommendation systems. This research aims to develop an AI-based tourism system in Bangka Belitung by utilizing recommendation system technology and deep learning. This system is designed to provide a more personalized and relevant tourism experience for users by integrating tourism data and tourist habits. The research method used involves developing an AI model using a machine learning approach, which combines content-based and collaborative recommendations. It is hoped that the results of this research can produce a Flutter-based Android application that provides accurate tourist destination recommendations, improves service quality, and supports sustainable creative economic growth in Bangka Belitung. This research contributes to the application of AI technology in the tourism sector which can improve tourist experiences and support sustainable development.
