Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that impacts child growth and increases the risk of degenerative diseases, including coronary heart disease. Prevention can begin early through nutrition education, healthy breakfast habits, physical activity, and consumption of iron tablets for adolescent girls. This Community Service Program was implemented at SMPN 1 Kampar with an Interprofessional Education (IPE) approach involving nutrition and midwifery professions. The activities carried out were pre-tests, breakfast together, physical activity in the form of gymnastics, nutrition education and post-tests. The media used were PPT, leaflets, booklets and posters. Target outputs include publication of articles in scientific journals and mass media as well as educational media that have been registered with HAKI. This program is expected to be able to form healthy living habits, prevent stunting from an early age, and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in future generations.

Abstract

Ranah Singkuang Village in Kampar Regency continues to face cases of stunting among toddlers, despite the local stunting prevalence rate being below the national target. One of the mitigation efforts involves utilizing local food sources, specifically catfish (Pangasius), as an accessible and affordable source of animal protein for the community. This Community Service Program aimed to improve the knowledge of mothers with toddlers through nutrition education and training in processing catfish into supplementary food in the form of dim sum. Evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments indicated a significant improvement in mothers’ knowledge regarding stunting and nutrition. Additionally, training participants demonstrated adequate skills in preparing catfish-based dim sum. These findings suggest that educational activities and cooking demonstrations are effective in enhancing mothers’ knowledge and skills in utilizing catfish as supplementary food for toddlers.

Abstract

Current development requires lecturers to improve their abilities and skills in using technology in learning. Skills improvement can be done, including through training activities. This activity aims to train Lecturers of the Nutrition Department of the Poltekkes Kemenkes Riau in conducting project-based class management using Trello.The activity was carried out in July 2023 at the Poltekkes Kemenkes Riau with a total of 15 workshop participants who were Lecturers from the Nutrition Department, Poltekkes Kemenkes Riau. The research instrument used was a closed questionnaire with 4 answer choices. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis. Analysis of the participants' response to the trainingrelated to the training activities that have been carried outseen from the data obtained which is processed into the form of a percentage. Percentages are obtained based on modified Likert Scale calculations. The results showed that 100% of the training participants were categorized as strongly agreeing with the statements which represented a positive response to the workshop activities. So, it can be concluded that all participants considered this workshop positive and from this workshop the Lecturer of the Department of Nutrition at the Poltekkes Kemenkes Riau gained a better understanding of how and what Lecturers should do in managing project-based classes using trello.

Abstract

Konsumsi sayur dan buah pada anak masih sangat minim dan masih banyak yang belum sesuai dengan rekomendasi. Rendahnya konsumsi sayur dan buah ini berkaitan dengan meningkatnya risiko terjadinya penyakit kronik seperti penyakit jantung dan diabetes. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah melakukan edukasi konsumsi sayur dan buah bagi anak usia dini pada guru PAUD. Kegiatan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini meliputi pengkayaan materi dan pendampingan guru dalam membuat media edukasi konsumsi sayur dan buah pada anak usia dini dilaksanakan mulai dari bulan Januari-November 2020 di PAUD Kecamatan Payung Sekaki Pekanbaru. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu pengetahuan guru PAUD terjadi peningkatan sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan edukasi dan guru PAUD mampu membuat alat peraga/media yang edukatif dan dapat dijadikan sebagai alat penyuluhan yang interaktif mengenai buah dan sayur pada anak usia dini dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar. Saran yang dapat disampaikan yaitu sebaiknya guru PAUD lebih aktif lagi dalam mencari informasi mengenai gizi anak usia dini baik melalui buku maupun media sosial sehingga guru dapat memberikan contoh dan ajakan kepada muridnya untuk menjalankan gizi seimbang.
