Abstract

Anak Laut Lake a tropical coastal lake in Singkil, Aceh Province, is directly connected to the Indian Ocean on the northwestern part of Sumatra Island. The existence of oil palm plantations in the northern part of Lake Anak Laut has the potential to pollute the lake waters. Therefore, this research aims to determine the dynamics of water quality which is influenced by the tidal cycle and the level of pollution of Lake Anak Laut. This research was conducted on March and April 2023. Water sampling was conducted in four (4) times, following the tidal cycle, namely new month, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter. The sampling was also carried out at high and low tides. The method for determining water pollution is the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) and Pollution Index Method (PI). The results of the research show that the current and water level of Anak Laut Lake varies according to the tidal cycle, so the water quality fluctuates greatly following the tidal cycle. The concentration of organic matter and nutrients as well as Total Coliform showed higher in the last quarter phase where the water entering the lake was very low. The high level of organic matter is caused by 'waste' from palm oil plantation activities located north of Anak Laut Lake. The water quality status of Anak Laut Lake is categorized as marginal-poor based on CCME (score 42-66) and moderate based on PI (score 5-8). In general, water quality conditions are "better" at high tide (new month and full moon) than at low tide (first quarter and last quarter).

Abstract

Banyak Island is an island located in Aceh province, precisely in Aceh Singkil district. The people of Banyak Island often consume food whose packaging is made of plastic, and then it ends up in the sea. Island community waste thrown into the sea will enter and potentially pollute the marine ecosystem and the biota within it. This research aims to identify the type of composition and abundance of microplastics found in the digestive tract of sea cucumbers on Banyak Island, Aceh Singkil, in terms of the shape and abundance of microplastics. The method used in this research is a descriptive analysis method, which is based on photos taken with a microscope. Based on the research results, the species composition ranged from 50-114 particles/g, and the abundance of microplastics obtained was 0.2-11.4 particles/g. It was dominated by microplastic pellets, fibers, and films, with the pellet type being the first. Judging from the large amount of microplastic content found in the digestive tract of sea cucumbers on Banyak Island, Aceh Singkil, they can be categorized into types of sea cucumbers that are still suitable for consumption and sale, but if done continuously, can trigger the growth of if done frequently and over a long period, it will cause adverse effects for humans who consume it

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems in Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan Sub-district, Deli Serdang experienced a lot of land conversion in the form of residential, agricultural and plantation lands. This causes abrasion in this region because there is no protection from waves and sea waves in this region. Land conversion and abrasion caused many mangrove trees to die. Mangrove trees that died were only used on the trunk, twigs and leaves by local residents. Many parts of the dead mangrove roots are not utilized. This community service activity aims to provide information and skills to partner groups about the making of MAROCA. Through this activity, partners will gain knowledge and skills in making MAROCA so that materials that are not initially valuable like dead mangrove roots become useful. Based on the description of the problem and the purpose of this community service activity, the activities that have been carried out are counseling about the manufacturing of MAROCA, giving leaflets for the procedures for making and providing tools and materials. The results obtained are increased knowledge and skills of partners about the benefits of dead mangrove roots as economically valuable handicrafts.

Abstract

Sei Siarti Village, Panai Tengah District, Labuhanbatu Regency have problems in the form of limited clean water sources that are suitable for use. There are several potentials including peat water, drilled well water, and Barumun river water that crosses the village. The condition of peat water that does not comply with quality standards for water that is fit for consumption has a brownish color, high acidity, and the organic matter contained in peat water is high enough to cause an odor. The well water has a salty taste (high salt content) so that what has the potential is Barumun river water even though it has a cloudy color. The method used to purify cloudy river water is through the processes of coagulation (deposition), filtration (filtering), absorption (absorption), and adsorption (ion exchange). This water purifier is made using 2 tubes filled with silica sand, MGS, activated carbon, and zeolite sand so that the water produced is clear and fit for consumption and can be utilized by the surrounding community. The results obtained from this water purification are water that does not have a smell, taste, and is clear in color so that it is suitable for use by the surrounding community

Abstract

Based on statistical analysis from Dinas Kelautan Perikanan, Deli Serdang Regency in 2018, The capacity for freshwater aquaculture output was recorded at 1328.9 tons / year with a land area of 65.9 ha , which is a problem for the aquaculture community with the decreasing quantity of seed production, limited infrastructure and development management which is still conventional in Desa Perbarakan, Deli Serdang Regency, therefore it is important to implement the required application of science and technology, namely the implementation of semi-natural methods of spawning techniques of koi fish (Cyprinus carpio). Counseling, seminars and practices are the methods of tasks carried out. Extension activities were carried out by illustrating the conceptual awareness of the development of koi fish spawning strategies, the distribution of leaflets, the application of recognition technology, as well as tools and resources, including the dose of gonadotropin hormone (GnH) in broodfish and fish anaesthetic techniques. For female fish, the injected hormone level is 0.5 ml / kg and 0.1 ml / kg for male fish. The weight of the female fish is 1 kg tancho sanke doitsu, 0.5 ml/gr, and the weight of the male fish is 1 kg. At a dose of 0.1 ml / gr and 900 g of shiro, kohaku at a level of 0.09 ml / gr. The result is that the number of eggs is estimated at 10,000, and then the eggs hatch within 2-4 days. Boiled egg yolks are fed to the eggs which hatch into the larvae, then the larvae are transferred to the nursery pon after 10 days of age.
