Abstract

This study aims to develop an e-comic-based teaching module to enhance students’ mathematical argumentation skills on the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV), referring to the Toulmin Argumentation Framework (data, claim, warrant, backing, rebuttal, and qualifier). The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE development model. It was conducted at one of the public junior high schools in Jombang, East Java, Indonesia, involving 25 students and two teachers as respondents. The research instruments included expert validation sheets, questionnaires for teachers and students, and a mathematical argumentation skills test developed based on the elements of the Toulmin framework. The effectiveness was evaluated using a one-group pretest–posttest approach, in which all participants were given mathematical argumentation tests before and after learning with the e-comic module. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test with SPSS to determine significant differences between the pre-test and post-test results. The expert validation results showed that the e-comic-based module obtained an average score of 94.23%, categorized as very valid, indicating strong content alignment, instructional design quality, and classroom applicability. The practicality test revealed that teacher responses averaged 94% and student responses 82%, both categorized as very practical, demonstrating that the module is easy to use, engaging, and relevant to students’ learning needs. The effectiveness test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), which reflects the module’s potential to enhance students’ mathematical argumentation skills. Pedagogically, the integration of the Toulmin framework in the e-comic context effectively helps students construct logical, structured, and evidence-based mathematical arguments through contextual narrative visualization. This approach also enhances students’ motivation, engagement, and reflective thinking during the learning process. Therefore, the developed e-comic-based teaching module is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ mathematical argumentation skills and in supporting active, reflective, and meaningful mathematics learning.    Keywords: teaching module, digital technology, e-comic, mathematical argumentation skills.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Kemampuan argumentasi matematis siswa masih rendah karena proses pembelajaran di kelas cenderung berfokus pada hasil akhir bukan pada proses menyusun argumen. Hal ini mengakibatkan siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusun argumen yang valid dan logis, terutama ketika diminta menjelaskan proses berpikir atau mendukung jawaban dengan alasan yang tepat. Tujuan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan modul ajar berbasis e-comic terhadap kemampuan argumentasi matematis siswa. Metode: penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif jenis Quasi Experiment Design, dengan desain Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Jogoroto. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX dengan jumlah 25 siswa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini yaitu lembar tes kemampuan argumentasi matemaris siswa yang terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test. Data analisis menggunakan sofware spss yaitu uji normalitas dan uji t berpasangan. Uji t digunakan untuk mengetahui signifikasi perbedaan sebelum dan sesudah menggnakan modul ajar berbasis e-comic. Hasil: penelitian dengan menggunakan sofware spss menunjukkan nilai signifikasi (Sig.2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,05. Kesimpulan: sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara hasil pre-test dan post-test. Dengan demikian penggunaan modul ajar berbasis e-comic dapat meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi matematis siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning learning model using the steam approach (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) on students' computational thinking abilities. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental research methods. The population in this study were class VIII SMP A. Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng with a sample of class VIII-I as the experimental class and class VIII-C as the control class. The experimental group was treated using the Discovery Learning model with the STEAM approach while the control group used the conventional model. The instrument used is a test sheet. Data analysis techniques using the t test. Based on the results of the analysis of the data obtained by calculating using IBM SPSS25 between the samples that were given the treatment of the Discovery Learning learning model with the STEAM approach in the experimental class and the control class, the output results were Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.020. This means that the sig value of 0.046 <0.05 means H0 is rejected, so it is said that there are differences in students' computational thinking abilities between those who take the Discovery Learning model learning the STEAM approach and those who take conventional learning. Then there is the influence of the STEAM approach Discovery Learning model on students' computational thinking skills.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to describe the soft skill development of students in learning mathematics. This research was conducted at MTsN 9 Jombang in the even semester of the 2022/2023 school year. Prospective subjects are students of class IXC, totaling 29 students. Next, one subject is selected who has the highest soft skills score to be analyzed in depth and comprehensively. The main instrument is the researcher himself and the supporting instruments include problem solving test sheets, observation guides and interview guides. Data collection techniques using problem-solving tests about Prism, observation and in-depth interviews. The credibility of the data in this study uses source triangulation. The technical stages of data analysis include data reduction, data presentation, and the last step is conclusion. The results showed that the development of verbal mathematical communication soft skills was in the high category, and the development of non-verbal mathematical communication soft skills was in the high category. Development of creative soft skills in the medium category. Development of critical thinking soft skills in the high category. Development of soft skills to solve problems in the high category. Development of stress management soft skills in the high category. Soft skills collaboration in the high category. Time management soft skills in the high category.

Abstract

The research is important to conduct because students’ mathematical argumentation skills are still often underdeveloped, especially when they are required to justify solutions and connect them with their level of creative thinking. Strengthening these skills is essential not only for obtaining correct answers but also for fostering logical reasoning, critical thinking, and deeper conceptual understanding in mathematics learning. The mathematical argumentation ability of junior high school students in solving SPLDV problems based on the level of creative thinking is defined as the ability of students to convey reasons (data, claims, warrants, backing, and qualifiers) to support or refute a claim derived from a solution to an SPLDV problem. The purpose of this study was to describe students’ mathematical argumentation abilities across four categories of creative thinking: very creative, creative, quite creative, and less creative in solving SPLDV problems. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data validity was ensured through time triangulation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students with quite creative and less creative levels were able to write data and claims and also convey them verbally, while students with very creative and creative levels tended to convey data and claims verbally. Students with very creative thinking generated warrants based on ticket prices, whereas those with creative, quite creative, and less creative thinking generated warrants based on the grouping of travel participants. All students were able to convey backing, conclusions, and qualifiers verbally.

Abstract

Upaya patuh pada protokol kesehatan sebenarnya sudah dilakukan pemerintah melalui perangkat desa yaitu Kepala desa Rejoslamet Kecamatan Mojowarno Kabupaten Jombang beserta jajarannya. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan adalah memasang poster himbauan menggunakan masker. Namun kesadaran masyarakat untuk mematuhi protokol kesehatan masih tergolong kurang. Hal tersebut dimungkinkan karena minimnya pegetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat akan bahaya Covid-19 varian omicron. Oleh karena itu, dilaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berfokus pada peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang covid-19 omicron melalui penguatan patuh protokol kesehatan dan pelatihan pembuatan strap masker di desa Rejoslamet Mojowarno. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang covid-19 varian omicron, masyarakat lebih patuh pada protokol kesehatan dengan perilaku hidup sehat dan menggunakan masker serta masyarakat dapat membuat strap masker dengan bahan yang mudah didapat, ekonomis, ramah lingkungan dan mudah cara pembuatannya secara mandiri. Metode yang digunakan yaitu program edukasi dan pelatihan. Mitra dampingan adalah ibu-ibu PKK. Evaluasi dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah program edukasi dan pelatihan (pre dan post test). Data pre dan post test digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat pengetahuan mitra. Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian pada masyarakat adalah terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan ibu-ibu PKK Desa Rejoslamet tentang covid-19 omicron, dengan peningkatan sebesar 84%.

Abstract

Motivasi siswa MTsN 9 Jombang dalam belajar matematika tergolong rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pembelajaran yang kurang menarik, siswa merasa kesulitan dalam memahami materi, sehingga nilai pengetahuan menjadi rendah, belum ada media pembelajaran yang tepat untuk memahami konsep dan latihan soal yang bisa memotivasi siswa dalam mengerjakan soal tersebut. Berdasarkan analisis situasi dan permasalahan tersebut, maka tim pengabdi menerapkan solusi alternatif yaitu menginovasi kegiatan pembelajaran matematika di kelas melalui penggunaan media pembelajaran yang efektif berupa game wordwall. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini yaitu memberikan materi bilangan bulat dan latihan soal melalui wordwall. Tahapan pengabdian ini meliputi persiapan awal, pelaksanaan, evaluasi dan penulisan laporan. Penerapan media pembelajaran game wordwall menunjukkan hasil peningkatan nilai pengetahuan siswa pada materi bilangan bulat. Pada pretest, hanya 2 dari 10 siswa yang nilainya berada di atas KKM (70). Sedangkan pada posttes, prosentase ketuntasan pada sub game match up sebesar 80% dengan nilai rata-rata 74; prosentase ketuntasan pada sub game open the box sebesar 100% dengan nilai rata-rata 83; prosentase ketuntasan pada sub game quiz sebesar 100% dengan nilai rata-rata 87. Dari keseluruhan data tersebut, pengabdi menarik kesimpulan proses pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan game Wordwall yang telah dilaksanakan di kelas VIII A MTsN 9 Jombang dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal bilangan bulat.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis merupakan salah satu kompetensi penting yang perlu dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran matematika karena berperan dalam membantu siswa menghasilkan berbagai ide dan strategi penyelesaian masalah. Namun, kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah akibat pembelajaran yang cenderung berpusat pada guru dan kurang melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan media Engklek Geometri terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa kelas VII SMP pada materi bangun datar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian quasi experiment dan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL berbantuan media Engklek Geometri dan kelas kontrol yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang diberikan dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan Independent Samples t-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen sebesar 67 lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol sebesar 62. Selain itu, hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok, sehingga hipotesis alternatif diterima. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning berbantuan media Engklek Geometri mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa, terutama pada aspek kelancaran (fluency), keluwesan (flexibility), keaslian (originality), dan elaborasi (elaboration). Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berbantuan media Engklek Geometri dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa pada materi bangun datar.
