Abstract

This community service activity is based on issues encountered by the partner institution, MA Sains Tebuireng Kesamben, MA Sains Tebuireng Kesamben. The key issues identified include: (1) low student engagement during mathematics lessons, (2) a predominant reliance on PowerPoint presentations and lecture-based teaching methods by mathematics teachers, and (3) the absence of the use of the “Papan Hitung Polinomial (PHP)” as an instructional medium at the school. To address these issues, the PHP was introduced as an innovative teaching tool aimed at enhancing students’ conceptual understanding of polynomial operations. The purpose ot this service is to enhancing students’ conceptual understanding in solving polynomial operations consisting of polynomial addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division through PHP media.. The implementation process consisted of four main phases: preparation, execution, evaluation, and reporting. PHP media is effective for learning if more than 75% of students complete it. The results of the implementation PHP show that 95% of students were able to achieve the minimum value. Therefore, PHP learning media is an effective instructional medium, facilitating the teaching and learning process while significantly improving students’ understanding of polynomial concepts in MA Sains Tebuireng Putri and can be applied to other classes. Furthermore, the intervention positively impacted both teachers and students: teachers developed greater proficiency in utilizing the PHP, and students exhibited increased motivation and engagement. Overall, this community service activity contributed to a more practical and student-centered approach to mathematics instruction.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengajaran guru matematika SMP Kabupaten Jombang belum sepenuhnya meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi siswa, dan belum ada perangkat teknologi khusus yang digunakan untuk membantu siswa dalam menyusun, menyajikan, atau mengevaluasi argumen sesuai dengan komponen Toulmin, yaitu data, warrant, qualifier, backing, dan klaim. Masalah ini menjadi fokus utama Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan management pembelajaran guru melalui penerapan perangkat teknologi argumen matematis dan model Infusion Learning. Kegiatan PkM ini melibatkan 32 guru MGMP Matematika SMP Kabupaten Jombang. Tahapan pelaksanaan PkM meliputi pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, Pendampingan dan evaluasi. System evaluasi yang digunakan meliputi tes untuk mengukur pengetahuan peserta terkait dengan materi, observasi untuk mengukur kemampuan managemen pembelajaran guru, dan angket untuk mengevaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta terhadap materi dengan persentase pemahaman peserta sebesar 86%, yang dikategorikan sebagai "baik", skor rata-rata keseluruhan dari semua komponen magemen pembelajaran guru adalah 85,3% pada kategori sangat baik, tanggapan peserta terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan, kinerja narasumber, dan kepuasan umum juga menunjukkan hasil yang positif. PkM ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi empiris dalam dalam meningkatkan kemampuan managemen pembelajaran guru untuk memfasilitasi kemampuan argumentasi matematis siswa.Abstract: The teaching of middle school mathematics teachers in Jombang Regency has not yet fully enhanced students' argumentative abilities, and no specific technological tools have been used to assist students in constructing, presenting, or evaluating arguments according to Toulmin's components, namely data, warrant, qualifier, backing, and claim. This issue became the main focus of the Community Service Program (PkM), which aims to improve teachers' classroom management skills through the application of mathematical argument technology tools and the Infusion Learning model. The PkM activities involved 32 teachers from the Mathematics Subject Teachers Forum (MGMP) in Jombang Regency. The stages of PkM implementation include training, technology application, mentoring, and evaluation. The evaluation system used includes tests to measure participants' knowledge related to the material, observations to assess teachers' classroom management skills, and questionnaires to evaluate the implementation of the activities. The evaluation results show that the training successfully improved participants' understanding of the material, with a comprehension rate of 86%, which falls under the "good" category. The overall average score across all components of teachers' classroom management was 85.3%, categorized as "very good." Participants' feedback regarding the activity implementation, trainers' performance, and overall satisfaction also showed positive results. This PkM is expected to serve as an empirical reference in enhancing teachers' classroom management skills to better facilitate students' mathematical argumentative abilities.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan yang dialami oleh mitra. Mitra pengabdian adalah SMP Negeri 1 Jombang. Permasalahan yang dimaksud adalah: (1) Kurangnya pemahaman konsep murid pada operasi bilangan bulat. (2) Belum pernah diterapkan media KandaKo di sekolah mitra. Sehingga solusi yang akan diterapkan oleh tim pengabdi sebagai bentuk pengapdian masyarakat  dengan cara menerapkan media KandaKo sebagai upaya penguatan pemahaman operasi bilangan bulat pada siswa kelas VIIB di SMP Negeri 1 Jombang. Media pembelajaran merupakan media pembelajaran yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan informasi terkait materi operasi perkalian dan pembagian bilangan bulat. Media pembelajaran KandaKo diharapkan dapat membantu memudahkan siswa dalam mengabstraksi dan memahami materi operasi perkalian dan pembagian bilangan bulat. Melalui media pembelajaran KandaKo ini guru beserta siswa mempraktekkan materi operasi perkalian dan pembagian bilangan bulat. Materi yang mencakup pada media ini meliputi penjumlahan, pengurangan, perkalian, dan pembagian bilangan bulat. Metode pelaksanaan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil pengabdian ini adalah media pembelajaran pembelajaran KandaKo dapat memberikan penguatan pemahaman konsep operasi perkalian dan pembagian bilangan bulat di SMP Negeri 1 Jombang Jombang. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memberikan dampak positif bagi guru dan siswa melalui pemanfaatan media pembelajaran pembelajaran KandaKo di kelas. Keterampilan guru dalam mengimplementasikan media pembelajaran KandaKo serta motivasi belajar siswa meningkat serta kegiatan pengabdian ini membantu guru menyampaikan materi secara praktis dan mudah dipahami siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the presence or absence of the influence of the infusion learning model collaboration with Problem-Based Learning (PBL)  to develop students' understanding of proof and mathematical argumentation in number theory courses. This research is an experimental study with a randomized control group pretest-posttest design, two groups namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group is the group that uses the infusion learning model in collaboration with PBL, while the control group is the group that uses conventional learning. The subjects of this study consisted of 40 students at a university in Jombang, Indonesia. Data collection techniques through observation sheets, proof understanding tests and observation sheets of students' mathematical argumentation abilities. The results of the research show that the significant difference between the average proof of understanding of students in the experimental group and the control group. The difference between the average proof of understanding in the experimental group and the average proof of understanding of students in the control group was 21.75. Furthermore, the significant difference between the average argumentation ability of students in the experimental group and the control group. The difference between the average argumentation ability of students in the experimental group and the average argumentation ability of students in the control group is 5.25. Therefore, the implementasion of infusion learning in collaboration with PBL is more effective than conventional learning models for developing students' ability to understand mathematical proof and argumentation. This learning model promotes the development of critical thinking skills, problem-solving, conceptual and different understanding needed to construct a formal proof, and strong and valid arguments.

Abstract

Students must be equipped with creativity as a 21st century skill. The research objective was to obtain a profile of student creativity in constructing learning media. The method used is observation and in-depth interviews. The researcher is the main instrument and observation guide and interview guide as a supporting instrument. The research subject was one of the students of the mathematics education study program taking the mathematics learning media course. The results of student creativity research, namely the subject of creating new ideas in constructing different mathematics teaching aids, using the basic concepts of multiplication and division of positive integer operations that are formed on boards and there is a touch of technology in the form of lights and barcodes. Subjects apply creative ideas as real contributions in the form of the KoKagi Ke Wort demonstration tool. The creative idea is evident in the use of lights and barcodes that can be copied using a smartphone, so that learning videos and material on prime numbers can be displayed through the LCD projector. Learning videos and practice questions for studying at home via can also be accessed via the link from the barcode.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan pengaruh media pembelajaran game edukasi berbasis construct terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan terhadap hasil belajar logika matematika di SMK PGRI 1 JOMBANG. Siswa yang terlibat sebanyak 31. Metode penelitian menggunakan eksperimen semu. Adapun jenis desain yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan one–group pretest-posttest design. Teknik pemilihan subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah teknik simple random sampling. Intrumen penelitian berupa tes. Sebelum melaksanakan penelitian ini, media game edukasi berbasis construct ini telah divalidasi dan direvisi sesuai dengan validator Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh media game edukasi berbasis construct terhadap kemampuan penyelesaian masalah siswa. Selain itu, diperoleh pula ada perbedaan rata-rata antara hasil belajar Pretest dengan Posttest yang artinya ada pengaruh penggunaan media game edukasi berbasis Construct dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar materi logika matematika. The purpose of this study is to describe the effect of construct-based educational game learning media on problem-solving abilities, and on the learning outcomes of mathematics logic at SMK PGRI 1 JOMBANG. Students involved were 31. The research method used a quasi-experimental. The type of design used was a quasi experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subject selection technique used was simple random sampling technique. The research instrument was a test. Before carrying out this research, this construct-based educational game media has been validated and revised according to the validator. The results of this study indicate that first, there is an effect of construct-based educational game media on students' problem solving abilities. Also, it was concluded that there was an average difference between the pretest and posttest learning outcomes, which meant that there was an effect of using Construct-based educational game media in improving the learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran matematika dengan media video pada materi penjumlahan bilangan bulat dan kemampuan siswa dalam menjumlahkan bilangan bulat sebelum dan sesudah pemanfaatan media video materi penjumlahan bilangan bulat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan dokumentasi. Sebelum melaksanakan penelitian, video media pembelajaran penjumlahan bilangan bulat telah divalidasi dan dinyatakan layak digunakan oleh ahli materi dan media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menjumlahkan bilangan bulat sebelum dan sesudah pemanfaatan media video terdapat perbedaan yang cukup signifikan yaitu dari 0% menjadi 96%. Artinya sebelum penerapan media video pembelajaran tidak ada siswa yang memenuhi indikator penjumlahan bilangan bulat yang sudah ditetapkan. Sedangkan, setelah penerapan media video pembelajaran terdapat 25 dari 26 siswa yang memenuhi 5 indikator penjumlahan bilangan bulat. Walaupun begitu, pembelajaran matematika menggunakan media video pada materi penjumlahan bilangan bulat belum mencapai ketuntasan kelas yaitu 100%. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of learning mathematics with video media on the material of adding integers and students' ability to add integers before and after using video media for adding integers. This study uses a qualitative approach. Methods of data collection using tests and documentation. Before carrying out the research, the instructional media video for adding integers has been validated and declared suitable for use by material and media experts. The results showed that the students' ability to add integers before and after the use of video media had a significant difference, from 0% to 96%. This means that before the application of instructional video media there were no students who met the predetermined integer addition indicators. Meanwhile, after the application of instructional video media, there were 25 out of 26 students who met 5 indicators of adding integers. Even so, learning mathematics using video media on the addition of integers has not yet reached class completeness, which is 100%.

Abstract

Promoted action is an activity offered by the teacher to students so that they can develop new knowledge or experience. The promoted action chosen by the teacher will depend on the knowledge possessed by the teacher. It is commonly referred to as pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). In addition, to become a professional teacher with a well-measured PCK, the prospective teacher has been trained since the lecturing process. This study aims to describe promoting the actions of prospective teacher students in learning mathematics online. It is descriptive qualitative research on the subject of four students who take the peer teaching program. Subject selection was based on the PCK criteria of subjects with categories 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, and 1-1, which indicated the order of levels of pedagogical knowledge- content knowledge. Data collection methods are tests to determine the PCK of prospective subjects, observation of the learning process, and documentation of learning records. The triangulation used to see the credibility of the data is time triangulation. The results showed that all subjects elicited promoted actions in motivation, concentration, processing, and exploration phases. The four students have different ways of bringing up encouraging action based on their ability criteria.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine and create levels of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills in mathematics learning. This research includes qualitative research, the research subjects are MTsN 9 Jombang students. The main instrument is the researcher, supporting instruments: observation guide and interview guide. The research results found 3 levels of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, namely high, medium and low. There are 3 levels, namely a high level of intrapersonal skills and a high level of interpersonal skills, 14 students, a medium level of intrapersonal skills and a moderate level of interpersonal skills, 5 students, a medium level of intrapersonal skills and low interpersonal skills, 13 students. Students who have a high level of intrapersonal skills and a high level of interpersonal skills are leaders or active social actors among their classmates. Students who are at a moderate level of intrapersonal skills and moderate levels of interpersonal skills are students who show a combination of characteristics and reflect a balanced ability to understand themselves and interact with others. Students with moderate levels of intrapersonal skills and low levels of interpersonal skills are students who have difficulty communicating effectively with others, lack self-confidence, are unsure in social interactions, have difficulty working together in groups, have difficulty understanding and adapting to social dynamics, tend to prefer to work alone or have their own time, and are less active in discussions.         Keywords: intrapersonal, interpersonal, mathematics learning DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i1.pp166-177

Abstract

The research aims to describe the character of solving numeracy problems based on students' cognitive styles. Research instruments include teacher questionnaires, cognitive style test instruments, numeracy problem-solving test instruments, interview guides, and documentation. Data from cognitive style tests and interviews are explained descriptively to select research subjects. The subjects of this research were 32 students in class VIII of state junior high schools in Jombang. Data from numeracy tests, interviews, and documentation were analyzed to describe the subject's creative thinking abilities. The results of the research show that field-independent students think of more than one answer in a variety of ways, and succeed in breaking down the details of an idea object into different ways or methods. It also fulfills the creative thinking indicators of novelty and provides a new art in solving numeracy problems that is pure. Meanwhile, field-dependent students have not provided different ideas or ideas as a form of process for solving numeracy problems in different ways. Even though the field-dependent student provided a correct solution to the problem, it did not meet the novelty indicator.
