Abstract

Although willingness to pay (WTP) has been widely examined in tourism research, empirical evidence regarding the factors influencing visitors’ WTP at the Situtirtamarta Nature Tourism Destination in Purbalingga Regency remains limited. This study analyzed the determinants of visitors’ WTP at the destination. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed, involving 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through binary logistic regression to assess the effects of ten independent variables on the probability of visitors’ willingness to pay. The findings demonstrated that the regression model was statistically significant overall. Partially, travel cost, length of visit, occupation, income level, and visit frequency significantly influenced visitors’ WTP, whereas gender, age, years of education, marital status, and number of dependents had no significant effects. These results indicate that visitors’ WTP is primarily shaped by economic conditions and visit-related characteristics rather than demographic factors. This study extends the tourism economics literature by providing empirical evidence on the determinants of WTP in a nature-based tourism context. The findings also provide practical implications for tourism managers and local governments in developing appropriate admission-pricing policies, improving service quality, and supporting the sustainable management of the Situtirtamarta tourism destination. Further research may examine psychological factors and perceived destination quality as additional determinants of visitors’ WTP.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of the tourism sector on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of East Java Province. Given that tourism is a crucial sector in driving regional economic growth through its contributions to local revenue, employment, and investment, this research aims to analyze the impacts of tourist arrivals, hotel counts, and restaurant numbers on GRDP to support effective tourism development policies. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study utilizes secondary panel data consisting of 190 observations across several regencies and cities in East Java for the 2018–2022 period, sourced from the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Central Statistics Agency of East Java Province. Data analysis was conducted using EViews 10 software with the Fixed Effects Model (FEM) method to examine the relationships between the independent variables and the dependent variable (GRDP). The results demonstrate that simultaneously, tourist arrivals, hotel counts, and restaurant numbers significantly influence GRDP. Partially, each independent variable also has a significant effect on GRDP. These findings confirm the important role of tourism sector development in regional economic growth.

Abstract

The success of a potato farming business is crucial and necessary for maintaining, improving, or developing potato farming, as well as for its future sustainability. Potato farming in Grogol Village, Pejawaran District, Banjarnegara Regency, is an important agricultural sector that supports the economy of the highland community. The area in Grogol Village has agro-climatic conditions that are very supportive for cultivation, especially potatoes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors influencing the sustainability of potato farming. This research method used a survey with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 93 farmers and used a purposive sampling technique, and the analysis model used multiple linear regression. The results of this study explain that the variables of income, labor, and experience have a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, the variables of land area, extension, age, and education have a negative and significant effect. Therefore, potato farmers must be able to keep up with the development of new agricultural technologies and always access agricultural information from extension workers to ensure the sustainability of their farming business.
