Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the contrarian strategy by demonstrating the existence of price reversal phenomena in winner-loser stock portfolios on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research differs from previous studies by comprehensively exploring the Indonesian stock market (IDX), which has characteristics distinct from developed countries. Thus, this research contributes new insights to the investment literature in emerging markets. The research approach is quantitative, utilizing monthly data in the form of stock closing prices from all companies listed on the IDX from January 2020 to June 2023, totaling 866 companies, with a selected sample of 670 companies. The hypothesis was tested using an independent sample t-test. The results show that the winner and loser stock portfolios experienced price reversal in the first month after the formation period. However, in the second and third months, the winner stock portfolio did not experience a price reversal but showed significant changes. Meanwhile, the loser stock portfolio experienced price reversals in the first, second, and third months after the formation period. Both portfolios exhibit significant differences in AAR and CAAR values, leading to the general conclusion that price reversal symmetry occurred. Such conditions present opportunities for investors or traders, serving as signals to make contrarian decisions buying loser stocks or selling winner stocks. This phenomenon also provides evidence of the winner-loser anomaly in the Indonesian capital market.

Abstract

The importance of labor protection is the main focus in an effort to ensure that every individual working in a company receives proper protection. In this context, the protection includes aspects of occupational health and safety, which aims to avoid the risk of accidents or injuries for workers. However, in reality, there are still violations of work protection provisions, such as the absence of personal protective equipment, which can threaten the safety of workers, especially at the Tanjung Morawa Rice Seed UPTD. In an effort to overcome these violations, this research carries out a descriptive method to describe the situation of legal protection against workers who experience accidents according to Law Number 13 of 2003 at the UPTD Induk Padi Tanjung Morawa. The results show that legal protection of workers is regulated in Article 6 of the Law, which contains the obligation of employers to provide rights and obligations to workers without discrimination. However, there are shortcomings in the details of the protection, especially regarding the protection of male workers. In addition, the protection of female workers is also stipulated in the Law, with a prohibition on female workers under the age of 18 to work during certain hours. Nevertheless, the implementation of legal protection of worker safety at the Tanjung Morawa Rice Seed UPTD still has challenges, where protection must include humanitarian and welfare aspects for workers.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic significance of innovation and product diversification in enhancing profit growth for MSMEs in the pottery craft sector in Indonesia. The research employs a literature review approach, with a focus on the adaptation of contemporary designs, the use of material combinations, and the expansion of product functions. These strategies enable MSME actors to reach broader market segments, increase selling prices, and create significant economic value. The study indicates a direct correlation between innovation and key financial indicators, including return on investment (ROI), net profit margin, and sales volume. Moreover, the diversification of products has been shown to enhance business resilience in the face of market fluctuations, thereby generating opportunities in the domains of decoration, tourism, and sustainable lifestyles. This study underscores the significance of a collaborative ecosystem comprising designers, government entities, and digital platforms to systematically support the innovation process. The adoption of an integrated innovation approach by pottery MSMEs has the potential to catalyze their transformation into a creative sector that is characterized by competitiveness, adaptability, and sustainability.

Abstract

This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing research on the impact of capital structure on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study synthesizes and analyzes findings from various studies to identify key trends, gaps, and areas for future research. The SLR covers factors influencing SMEs' capital structure decisions, including internal factors like company size, profitability, and growth opportunities, and external factors such as market conditions, industry characteristics, and regulatory environment. Our findings reveal that the capital structure significantly affects SMEs' financial performance and sustainability. Debt financing offers growth potential but increases financial risk, while equity financing provides stability and reduces risk but dilutes ownership. The optimal mix of debt and equity varies based on specific SME characteristics and external conditions. Additionally, the capital structure influences SMEs' ability to attract external financing and impacts their overall growth and profitability. The review also highlights the need for more focused research on the determinants of capital structure in SMEs, the role of external financing sources, and the relationship between capital structure and firm performance over time. Longitudinal studies and investigations into macroeconomic factors' impact on SMEs' capital structure decisions are recommended for future research.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Digital Financial Engagement (DFE) on Financial Preparedness (FP) among Generation Z college students in Indonesia, with Financial Literacy (FL) serving as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 231 Generation Z students who actively use digital financial services, and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS. The findings reveal that DFE has a positive and significant effect on both FL (β = 0.218; p < 0.001) and FP (β = 0.144; p < 0.001). Furthermore, FL exerts a strong positive influence on FP (β = 0.534; p < 0.001). The mediation test using the Sobel method confirms that FL partially mediates the relationship between DFE and FP (Z = 3.871; p < 0.001), suggesting the presence of both direct and indirect effects. Theoretically, this study enriches the literature on financial behavior by highlighting the role of digital financial practices in fostering preparedness for future financial needs. Practically, the results emphasize the importance of integrating financial literacy education into higher education curricula and promoting responsible engagement with digital financial platforms to enhance young adults’ financial readiness in an increasingly digitalized economy.
