Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of social interaction between plasma farmers and the Sarawak Damai Estate (SDE) Sawit Company in Pundu Village, Cempaga Hulu District, East Kotawaringin Regency. For the objectives to be answered, a qualitative approach was used to withdraw purposive sampling informants with data collected from oil palm farmers (primary) and documentation (secondary). The data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that social interaction between the plasma farmers community and the SDE Company in Pundu Village, namely dissociative social interaction, occurred during the entry phase of the SDE Palm Oil Company and the management of the oil palm plantation. In this dissociative interaction, the plasma farmer community strengthens its solidarity in fighting against companies that are considered to be doing things that are detrimental to farmers. Therefore, social interaction between the plasma farmer community and the SDE Palm Oil Company in Pundu Village is dissociative.

Abstract

Harnessing Digital Technology for Contextual Learning of Local Social Issues: A Systematic Literature Review. Objectives: This study explores the use of digital technologies in enhancing contextual learning, focusing on their role in addressing local social issues. The research aims to synthesize current literature to identify trends, technological tools, pedagogical frameworks, challenges, and provide recommendations for optimizing the integration of educational technologies in locally relevant learning environments. Methods: Firstly, to use a systematic literature review (SLR) of 27 peer-reviewed studies from the Scopus database, published between 2016 and 2025. Secondly, by following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, the evaluation identifies trends in digital technologies, such as Virtual Reality (VR), mobile learning platforms, and geolocation tools, across various educational contexts. The review assessed the pedagogical approaches and the challenges faced in utilizing these technologies and their social impact. Results: The results highlight a growing use of digital technologies to address local social issues, with significant applications in environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and healthcare. At the same time, the review reveals a direct relationship between challenges such as gaps in digital infrastructure, limited digital literacy, and the ineffective use of technology in education. These barriers hinder the full potential of digital tools, despite their effectiveness in place-based learning. The study emphasizes that their contextual relevance and cultural sensitivity heavily influence the effectiveness of digital tools. Conclusion: Digital technologies can significantly enhance contextual learning and engage students in solving local social issues. However, future research should focus on bridging the digital divide, creating culturally relevant tools, and promoting co-design processes with local communities, educators, and policymakers to maximize potential. Collaborative efforts should prioritize sustainable and adaptive digital learning solutions that are contextually grounded and technologically accessible. Keywords: digital technologies, contextual learning, educational technology, social issues, digital literacy.

Abstract

Bakas Lewu is a group of elders in the Dayak Ngaju language of Central Kalimantan. Previous studies have been more oriented towards mapping brokers in mobilizing material resources to influence voters. The purpose of this article is to explore the role of Bakas Lewu as political brokers, especially how they work, involving culture and social power, which has been discussed to a limited extent. This study was conducted qualitatively and the main data source came from interviews with key informants who knew about the village head election (Pilkades) cases in Manduing Taheta, then analyzed in depth and interactively. This study shows that Bakas Lewu as political brokers play an important role in mobilizing political support based on social relations, kinship, and local Dayak culture by relying on interpersonal communication, narrative control, and social networks to build community trust and loyalty. This phenomenon emphasizes that political power in the village is more influenced by personal and social relationships than material transactions. This study challenges the dominant approach that sees political brokers in Indonesia as transactional actors, by highlighting the importance of local social and cultural dynamics. These findings indicate the diversity of political brokerage practices and suggest more research on how social relations, such as kinship and loyalty, play a role in mobilizing political support, opening up new perspectives in the study of local politics in Indonesia.

Abstract

Social assistance programs are often a major concern during local elections. However, their impact on voter support for incumbents remains underexplored. This study analyzes how perceptions of social assistance influence voting behavior for incumbents in the 2024 Palangka Raya mayoral election. Using a sequential explanatory mixed methods design, the quantitative stage was conducted through a survey of 370 social assistance recipients and analyzed using PLS-SEM. The qualitative stage used 13 official documents and verified news reports to examine how social assistance was framed in the public sphere. The results show that perceptions of social assistance are the strongest predictor of the tendency to vote for incumbents, whereas political competition, demographic factors, and moderating effects are not significant. Qualitative analysis shows that social assistance issues are the most frequently mentioned theme in news reports and official documents, thereby reinforcing their relevance as a basis for evaluation by the beneficiaries. This study shows that voters tend to respond to the benefits of policies they perceive in determining their electoral choices, even within a public sphere that frequently raises issues of program politicization.

Abstract

This article conducts a rapid scoping review of scientific literature from the period 2020-2025 to map the dynamics of the relationship between the role of the state and the role of governance in the Indonesian context. This study aims to identify thematic trends, the role of the state, dominant governance models, and points of friction between the two. Analysis of 305 articles reveals a paradigm shift from a hierarchical and centralized state model towards collaborative, adaptive, and networked governance. The state plays a multidimensional role, not only as a regulator and service provider, but also as a facilitator, catalyst, and digital innovator. Meanwhile, collaborative governance, digital governance, and sustainable governance emerged as the most dominant modes of governance. The main points of convergence and tension lie in the effort to balance state sovereignty with inclusive network logic, as well as the challenge of accountability in multi-actor collaboration models. The article concludes by presenting a concise map, a comparative matrix, and a future research agenda to address critical knowledge gaps, such as digital sovereignty governance, green bureaucratic capacity, and intersectional approaches to governance.
