Abstract

Transportation problems, which concerned in finding the minimum cost of transporting a single commodity from a given number of sources to a given number of destinations, are an integral part of the industrial system that has been around for a long time. The number of potential losses caused by transportation problems has made many parties take initiatives and efforts to solve those problems, usually by designing an optimal distribution model. The current study employs two methods named North West Corner (NWC) and Stepping Stone (SS) method in order to find distribution model with the most optimal costs for common good products. Through this research, the NWC method is utilized to generate initial model or solution, while the SS method is used afterward to find the optimal solution. According to it scheme, the result shows that through the NWC method there was cost reduction of $ 8,301, while the distribution model obtained from the Stepping Stone method resulted in a significant cost increased of $ 307,369. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of single method, namely NWC method, in this study provides much better results than using the combined NWC and Stepping Stone method.

Abstract

Abstract

Supplier selection is one of the important things in purchasing activities for a company. The selection of suppliers must be done carefully because the wrong choice of suppliers will cause the production process and operations of the company to be disrupted. One technique that can be used for supplier selection is the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method. The research was conducted at PT RZ, a shoe company that will work with shoe leather suppliers. This study aims to determine the best supplier preferences by criteria and sub -criteria. In the end, the rating is determined from the criteria for the relative importance of supplier selection: priority I is quality (0.450), priority II is price (0.265), priority III is service (0.127), and the next priority is delivery and quantity with equal priority (0.79). In the end, the rating is determined from the criteria for the relative importance of supplier selection: the first priority is Supplier X (0.500), the second priority is Supplier Z (0.312), and the next priority is Supplier Y (0.188). Related suppliers, the company can select Supplier X as the supplier of leather raw materials with the highest final value. With the selection of these suppliers, we hope to improve the performance of supply chain relationships between companies and suppliers in a better direction in the future.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company engaged in the manufacturing of paints, both water based and solvent based. Every year the growth of paint sales is 11-13%. The company's ability to meet demand based on consumer needs adjustments causes many product variants to be made, thus affecting the change over time for each product change. The purpose of this research is to reduce the change over time from base A (white) products to base C products (transparent) using the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) method. This method can identify the activities carried out in the product change over process to be separated into two activities, namely internal activities, and external activities. Before the repair, the change over time required by the company was 63 minutes of the company's target of 30 minutes, after applying the SMED method, the change over time was 33 minutes. PT. XYZ saves 30 minutes, by turning internal activities into external activities. Save 50% time. Keywords: Change Over Time, Internal Activities, External Activities, SMED

Abstract

The aspect of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a crucial factor that must be implemented across all industrial sectors, especially in production processes involving heavy machinery and high-risk physical activities. This study was conducted at PT. Putra Agri Pas with the aim of identifying potential hazards and assessing the level of occupational accident risks using the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) approach. This method is applied to detect process deviations and to formulate appropriate preventive strategies. Data were collected through field observations and employee interviews, then analyzed using HAZOP worksheets and the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method. The research findings indicate that most hazards fall into medium to high risk categories, primarily due to a lack of discipline in using personal protective equipment (PPE), insufficient safety training, and weak operational supervision. The study recommends enhancing control measures, conducting regular training sessions, and organizing the work environment to ensure a safer workplace.
