Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the mental health of the people in Gantang Tani Village by utilizing local wisdom as a psychological resource that aligns with the cultural values and norms of the area. This agricultural village still maintains a strong traditional value system. Using a participatory approach through observation, interviews, FGD, and training for local facilitators, this activity explores cultural practices such as marsialapari (cooperation), manortor (traditional dance), customary rituals, and local proverbs in strengthening the psychological resilience of the community. The findings show that local wisdom can enhance a sense of solidarity, regulate emotions, and reduce collective pressure. The main issue is the cultural potential that has not yet been fully maximized as a psychological resource. This program fosters a new awareness of the significance of mental health within the cultural context. Suggestions include the integration of cultural values in psychological counseling, the development of locally-based mental health promotion modules, and the involvement of traditional leaders. This activity also produces a model of the village cultural calendar to support the mental well-being of the community. Overall, this service illustrates that culturally-based interventions have great potential in supporting mental health in rural communities in an inclusive and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine teacher self-efficacy as a predictor of innovative work behavior (IWB) among junior and senior high school teachers in Medan City, Indonesia. A quantitative cross-sectional predictive–correlational design was employed using purposive sampling. Participants consisted of 214 teachers from public and private schools. Teacher self-efficacy was measured using an instrument adapted from the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES), while IWB was assessed using a scale capturing core stages of work-related innovation, including idea generation, idea promotion, and idea implementation. All items were rated on a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, reliability testing, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The results showed a positive and statistically significant correlation between teacher self-efficacy and IWB (r = 0.53, p < 0.001). Regression analysis further indicated that teacher self-efficacy significantly predicted IWB (β = 0.53, t = 9.09, p < 0.001), accounting for 28% of the variance in innovative work behavior (R² = 0.28, f² = 0.39). These findings demonstrate that higher levels of teacher self-efficacy are associated with greater engagement in innovation-oriented work behaviors. The results highlight the role of personal psychological resources in supporting instructional innovation, suggesting that strengthening teacher self-efficacy through practice-based professional development and organizational support may facilitate sustained innovative behavior in school settings.

Abstract

This study was driven by the need to implement Islamic holistic nursing in caring for high-risk infants requiring spiritual support in Muslim families. The purpose of this research was to describe nurses’ perceptions of Islamic holistic nursing practice at Sari Asih Sangiang Hospital. A descriptive quantitative design with a survey approach was employed. The population included 33 nurses from NICU, PICU, and pediatric wards using total sampling. Data were collected using a 10-item Likert questionnaire validated (r count > 0.333) and reliable (Cronbach’s α = 0.978). Univariate analysis used frequency and percentage distribution. The results showed that 93.9% of nurses had high perceptions of Islamic holistic nursing, 3.0% moderate, and 3.0% low. The conclusion highlights that nurses demonstrate strong readiness to integrate Islamic values such as prayer, remembrance, and proper conduct in critical infant care, supporting the development of standardized Sharia-based nursing practices.
