Abstract

Breastfeeding is critical for the health of both mothers and infants, with global recommendations supporting exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months. This study aimed to examine the knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, and challenges faced by pregnant women in Surakarta.: Five women between 28 and 36 weeks of gestation were recruited using snowball sampling, and data were collected through in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis, conducted using NVivo 12. Revealed that while participants generally demonstrated a high level of preparedness for breastfeeding, challenges such as public discomfort, inconsistent readiness, and emotional uncertainties persisted. The support of their husbands was felt to be crucial by the participants in this study. However, as the study involved only five pregnant women, the findings should be interpreted with caution, and may not be generalizable to a wider population. Nonetheless, this study suggests that emphasis should be placed on addressing the individual needs of mothers and providing appropriate support interventions to help overcome emotional and logistical barriers, which could enhance effective breastfeeding practices in similar contexts.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional stage filled with biopsychosocial and environmental challenges. Teenagers often face difficulties in managing these challenges, which may lead to health issues, including risky sexual behavior driven by curiosity or desire, involving either the opposite or same sex. The rising incidence of adolescent health problems underscores the need for equitable and integrated interventions that support clean and healthy lifestyles, as well as strong social and life skills. One approach is the establishment of adolescent-friendly health services, such as integrated service posts (Posyandu Remaja), which serve as platforms for health education, counseling, and reproductive health services tailored to adolescent needs. This study aims to map existing evidence on the role of adolescent health services in shaping reproductive health behavior. A scoping review was conducted using national journal databases, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate, focusing on full-text Indonesian-language articles from 2018 to 2023. Five relevant studies were identified, covering various regions and research designs. The findings show that adolescents who actively participate in Posyandu Remaja tend to exhibit better reproductive health behavior. This suggests that adolescent health services play a key role in promoting healthy reproductive choices. Strengthening these services is essential to support adolescent well-being and development.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: P4K, Ibu Hamil, Kehamilan Risiko Tinggi, Edukasi Kesehatan, Komplikasi Persalinan  ABSTRACT Pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum complications remain the leading causes of maternal and neonatal mortality in Indonesia. The Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program (Program Perencanaan Persalinan dan Pencegahan Komplikasi, or P4K) is one of the government’s promotive and preventive strategies to reduce such risks through proper education for pregnant women. This activity aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women, including those with high-risk conditions, through face-to-face seminars with obstetrics and gynecology specialists (Ob-Gyns), in support of the successful implementation of the P4K program. The activity was conducted in the form of an educational seminar featuring expert presentations and interactive discussion sessions. The target participants were pregnant women in a designated community area, including those with high-risk conditions such as hypertension, anemia, and chronic energy deficiency (CED). Evaluation was conducted descriptively, focusing on behavioral changes and pregnancy outcomes. All pregnant women who participated in the seminar demonstrated improved understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and attending routine antenatal care. No maternal complications occurred during childbirth or the postpartum period. However, two cases of low birth weight (LBW) were found among babies born to mothers with a history of hypertension. The P4K seminar was proven effective in enhancing health literacy and preparedness among pregnant women for childbirth, while also reinforcing the role of P4K in preventing complications. Similar initiatives are recommended for regular implementation at the community level, especially for high-risk pregnancy groups. Keywords: P4K, Pregnant Women, High-Risk Pregnancy, Health Education, Childbirth Complications

Various factors play a role in decision making, this is also influenced by each woman's perception regarding tubectomy. Objective: To explore women's perceptions of tubectomy and their relationship to factors that influence decision making regarding tubectomy selection. Method: Qualitative research, phenomenological study using in-depth interviews with 8 informants at the Colomadu I Community Health Center. Informants were recruited using a linear snowball sampling technique. The findings were processed using NVivo version 12 Plus software inductively with analysis techniques according to Miles, et al. Results: Informants gave various statements regarding perceptions of tubectomy, including tubectomy as a contraceptive solution, permanent, effective in terminating pregnancy, permitted in Islam, economical, safe, easy to use and comfortable. The reasons behind the informants' desire to use tubectomy were varied, such as parity, husband's role, obstetric history, and age. Conclusion: All informants have a positive perception of tubectomy from the perspective of procedure, law, costs, and advantages of tubectomy. People closest to you, such as husbands and friends, are important when considering decision making.
