Abstract

Abstract

Kata Kunci: P4K, Ibu Hamil, Kehamilan Risiko Tinggi, Edukasi Kesehatan, Komplikasi Persalinan  ABSTRACT Pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum complications remain the leading causes of maternal and neonatal mortality in Indonesia. The Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program (Program Perencanaan Persalinan dan Pencegahan Komplikasi, or P4K) is one of the government’s promotive and preventive strategies to reduce such risks through proper education for pregnant women. This activity aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women, including those with high-risk conditions, through face-to-face seminars with obstetrics and gynecology specialists (Ob-Gyns), in support of the successful implementation of the P4K program. The activity was conducted in the form of an educational seminar featuring expert presentations and interactive discussion sessions. The target participants were pregnant women in a designated community area, including those with high-risk conditions such as hypertension, anemia, and chronic energy deficiency (CED). Evaluation was conducted descriptively, focusing on behavioral changes and pregnancy outcomes. All pregnant women who participated in the seminar demonstrated improved understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and attending routine antenatal care. No maternal complications occurred during childbirth or the postpartum period. However, two cases of low birth weight (LBW) were found among babies born to mothers with a history of hypertension. The P4K seminar was proven effective in enhancing health literacy and preparedness among pregnant women for childbirth, while also reinforcing the role of P4K in preventing complications. Similar initiatives are recommended for regular implementation at the community level, especially for high-risk pregnancy groups. Keywords: P4K, Pregnant Women, High-Risk Pregnancy, Health Education, Childbirth Complications

Abstract

Preconception health, particularly nutritional status, is a crucial factor in pregnancy preparation and is closely associated with maternal and neonatal outcomes. In West Kalimantan, the proportion of pregnant women at risk of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) reached 14.0% in 2017. Additionally, the prevalence of Low Birth Weight (LBW) increased from 3.20% in 2016 to 3.62% in 2017. This study aimed to determine differences in knowledge and attitudes of prospective brides before and after receiving health education on preconception nutrition delivered through a WhatsApp group in the West Pontianak Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) area. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 41 respondents were selected using consecutive sampling. Primary data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The results showed a significant improvement in both knowledge and attitudes of prospective brides after the health education intervention, with a p-value < 0.05 (p = 0.000). In conclusion, health education delivered through WhatsApp groups is effective in improving knowledge and attitudes regarding preconception nutrition among prospective brides.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting, a condition where toddlers have a height significantly below the normal for their age, remains a serious issue in Indonesia, including the city of Surakarta. This has serious implications for a child's physical and cognitive development. Factors contributing to stunting are divided into direct factors (maternal nutrition, feeding practices, exclusive breastfeeding) and indirect factors (healthcare, education, environmental sanitation). Addressing stunting requires the involvement of healthcare professionals and community health volunteers. Effective training is crucial to enable kader to play a significant role in this effort.Method: This community engagement introduces the Siganting Program, a mobile application designed for stunting prevention. The program was presented to healthcare professionals and kader in Surakarta through lectures and discussions. Pre- and post-tests were used to assess participants' understanding of the program. Results: The Siganting Program successfully increased participants' understanding of stunting prevention. Before the program introduction, the average pre-test score was 76.4%, while the post-test showed 100% comprehension among participants. Conclusion: The Siganting Program is a valuable tool for stunting prevention and management, especially for mothers with infants under two years old. It can help Surakarta move closer to its goal of reducing stunting prevalence to zero. This mobile application provides accessible and flexible support for mothers and has been well-received by healthcare professionals and kader. The use of technology like Siganting can assist in achieving a significant reduction in stunting rates in Surakarta and its surrounding areas.
