Abstract

Abstract

Air as an environmental component needs to be maintained and improved in quality so that it provides the supporting capacity for living creatures to live optimally. A hospital is a health service institution that provides comprehensive individual health, providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. Transmission of nosocomial infections in hospitals occurs through various means, one of which is air. Physical environmental conditions such as humidity, lighting and temperature influence the growth and development of disease-causing germs such as viruses and bacteria which can cause health problems for visitors, patients and health workers in hospitals. This research was descriptive in nature with laboratory examinations, carried out at TK III Reksodiwiryo Hospital, Padang City. The population in this study was the air of the inpatient room at TK III Reksodiwiryo Hospital, Padang City. The research sample was taken based on several researchers' considerations. The samples in this study were the children's inpatient room, the Bung Hatta inpatient room, the ICU room and the OK room. Physical air quality checks consist of temperature, humidity and lighting. The results of checking the temperature of the inpatient room when compared with PMK No. 2 of 2023 concerning Implementing Regulations of Government Regulation Number 66 of 2014 concerning Environmental Health exceed the standards that have been set. Advice that can be given to hospitals is to pay attention to factors that can influence air quality both physically and biologically so that air pollution in hospitals can be overcome

Abstract

Skin diseases are one of the occupational diseases that can be caused by poor personal hygiene and inadequate use of personal protective equipment (PPE). For scavengers, maintaining personal hygiene and using PPE is crucial since they interact directly with waste. This study aims to determine the relationship between personal hygiene behavior, PPE use, and complaints of skin diseases among scavengers at the Air Dingin landfill in Padang City in 2024. The research method used is quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of 98 respondents, with a sample of 87 respondents. The instruments used were questionnaires and observation sheets, and data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between personal hygiene and PPE use with skin disease complaints among scavengers (p-value = 0.0001). The OR values for personal hygiene = 12.264 and for PPE use = 10.038. It can be concluded that personal hygiene and PPE use are related to skin disease complaints among scavengers. It is hoped that scavengers at the Air Dingin landfill will pay more attention to personal hygiene and consistently use complete PPE.

Abstract

Food handlers are individuals who directly interact with food and its utensils, from preparation to serving. Observations at Gandoriah Beach, Pariaman, revealed unhygienic behaviors among food handlers, such as not wearing aprons, not washing hands with soap, and having long, dirty nails. This study aimed to identify factors associated with the behavior of street food handlers at Gandoriah Beach in 2022. An analytic survey method with a cross-sectional design was used. A sample of 45 food handlers was selected from a population of 68. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α=0.05). The results showed that 66.7% of respondents had a high level of knowledge, 62.2% had a positive attitude, 56.6% worked in areas with poor sanitation facilities, and 53.3% demonstrated good behavior. There was a significant relationship between attitude and behavior (p=0.005), and between sanitation facilities and behavior (p=0.042), but no significant relationship between knowledge and behavior (p=0.113). It is recommended that food handlers improve sanitation facilities and consistently apply food hygiene and sanitation principles.

Abstract

Every workplace, both formal and informal, has hazards and risks that can lead to accidents and occupational health. One of the informal industries is the brick industry that is at risk of occupational diseases, namely Low Back Pain, which is pain felt in the lower back. One of the brick printing factories is located in Nagari Ganggo Hilia, Bonjol District. In 2022, 65.7% of workers in Bonjol District experienced complaints of low back pain. The purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between work position and working period with complaints of Low Back Pain in brick workers in Bonjol District, Pasaman Regency in 2024.The type of research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach in January – June 2024. Sampling by census, the entire population was sampled as many as 35 people. Data was collected through interviews and observations.. Univariate and bivariate data were analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of the study showed that 68.6% of brick workers experienced Low Back Pain complaints, as many as 62.9% of brick workers did work with high risk and very high body positions and as many as 65.7% of brick workers with a long working period. The bivariate results showed that there was a relationship between work position (p=0.001) and working period (p=0.002) with Low Back Pain complaints. To reduce the risk of low back pain complaints, brick owners should provide work tools that support workers to work ergonomically such as providing seats so that they do not stand when making bricks and regulating workers' working hours according to the conditions of the work environment.
