Abstract

This research is related to utilizing organic liquid waste to be processed into immune protein. The processing stages include a mixture of organic liquid waste in the form of garbage leachate, Zingiberaceae, Crude Palm Oil, beef animal fat, and old coconut water. Mixing was carried out by making two immune protein products that differed in composition and function including protim 1 and protim 2 in knowing the success of the product from the observation of the weight of broilers at harvest. Giving protim 1 in drinking produced broiler weights up to 18 days of the age of 707, 697, and 634 grams. The weight of broilers obtained from the provision of protim 2 in drinking until the end of harvest was 2732, 2670, and 2458 grams. The use of both protims was successfully tested by comparing broilers that did not use protim until harvest, resulting in weights of 1749, 2238, and 2338 grams. FCR and IP values for three broilers consuming both protims resulted in values of 0.66 and 11.34, respectively, with physical characteristics that were slightly hairy compared to broilers that did not consume protim.

Abstract

The Lempuyang plant is one of the medicinal plants in Indonesia. One of the plants of the Lempuyang family that has not been widely researched is Lempuyang Gajah Zingiber zerumbet (L.). The commonly used method of extraction of phenolic compounds is maceration with organic solvents. The disadvantages are the amount of organic solvents that must be used and the long extraction time (days). An environmentally friendly solvent that has been successfully developed in the 21st century is eutectic or known as Natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES). In addition, NADES can also be used in conjunction with other extraction methods such as (UAE), and microwave aid (MAE). The results obtained were the synthesis of NADES with HBA (Choline Chloride) and HBD variations (Glucose, Lactic Acid, and Ethylene Glycol) with ratios of 1:1 and 1:2. In the maceration process, variations in time (2, 4, 6 hours) and variations in extraction methods (maceration, UAE and UAE-MAE) are carried out. The best TFC (Total Flavonoid Content) value data was obtained by NADES D (choline chloride: glycerol 1:2) of 697.24 mg QE/g extract through a combined ultrasonic and microwave method (UAE-MAE) while the best TPC (Total Phenolic Content) was NADES C (choline chloride: glycerol 1:1) of 2491.88 mg GA/g extract through a combined ultrasonic and microwave method (UAE-MAE). Meanwhile, the characterization of NADES synthesis to see the interaction of hydrogen bonds through FTIR analysis, and the content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids was carried out through HPLC-DAD.

Abstract

Lempuyang Wangi (Zingiber Aromaticum Val.) is a medicinal plant widely used in traditional medicine in Southeast Asia. This study aimed to extract and analyze the secondary metabolites from the rhizomes of Lempuyang Wangi using the maceration method with three different solvents: n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 96% ethanol. The extraction yielded varying percentages depending on the solvent used, with the ethyl acetate extract having the highest yield at 16.26%. Phytochemical screening identified the presence of alkaloids, phenolics, and flavonoids in all extracts, with the ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts showing a broader range of compounds. The highest total flavonoid content was found in the ethanol extract, followed by ethyl acetate and n-hexane, indicating ethanol's superior ability to extract flavonoids. These findings demonstrate the influence of solvent polarity on extraction efficiency and compound diversity, highlighting ethanol as the most effective solvent for extracting flavonoids from Lempuyang Wangi. The measurement of total flavonoid content showed that the ethanol extract had the highest concentration, at 24.273 mg QE/g. These results provide a foundation for further research and potential applications in utilizing Lempuyang Wangi extracts for health benefits.
