The low ability and fluency in reading the Qur'an among Generation Alpha has become a pressing challenge for Islamic educational institutions, particularly given the characteristics of this generation as digital natives who are easily disengaged and prefer visual- and audio-based learning. This study aims to explore the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in Qur’anic learning at SMP Islam Assalam Kradenan, Grobogan, focusing on mapping students’ reading abilities, designing differentiated learning strategies, and identifying the challenges, strengths, and limitations of the model. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study collected data through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with Islamic education teachers and students as key participants. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and verification stages, while validity was ensured using source and methodological triangulation. The findings reveal that TaRL effectively categorizes students’ Qur’anic reading skills into three levels (basic, intermediate, and advanced) and provides adaptive learning strategies tailored to their needs. This approach was found to enhance learning motivation, strengthen Qur’anic reading competence, and foster active student engagement. Nevertheless, challenges such as time constraints, teacher readiness, and resistance to new methods were also identified. The study concludes that TaRL holds significant potential as an innovative approach to Qur’anic education for Generation Alpha, filling a research gap, while contributing both practically and theoretically to the broader development of Islamic education in response to contemporary learning needs.ABSTRAKRendahnya kemampuan dan kelancaran membaca al-Qur’an di kalangan generasi Alpha menjadi tantangan serius bagi lembaga pendidikan Islam, terutama karena karakteristik generasi ini yang merupakan digital native, mudah bosan, serta lebih menyukai pembelajaran berbasis visual dan audio. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi implementasi pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) dalam pembelajaran Al-Qur’an di SMP Islam Assalam Kradenan Grobogan, dengan fokus pada pemetaan kemampuan baca siswa, rancangan strategi pembelajaran diferensiasi, serta identifikasi tantangan, kelebihan, dan keterbatasannya. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, serta melibatkan guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan siswa sebagai partisipan utama. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi, penyajian, dan verifikasi, sementara keabsahan diperkuat dengan triangulasi sumber dan metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa TaRL mampu memetakan kemampuan baca Al-Qur’an siswa menjadi tiga level (dasar, menengah, mahir) dengan strategi pembelajaran yang adaptif dan berbasis kebutuhan. Pendekatan ini mendorong peningkatan motivasi belajar, memperkuat kompetensi membaca Al-Qur’an, serta menumbuhkan keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam proses belajar. Namun, penelitian juga menemukan adanya tantangan berupa keterbatasan waktu, kesiapan guru, serta resistensi terhadap perubahan metode. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa TaRL memiliki potensi signifikan sebagai inovasi pembelajaran Al-Qur’an bagi generasi Alpha, mengisi kesenjangan penelitian sebelumnya, sekaligus memberikan kontribusi praktis dan teoretis bagi pengembangan pendidikan Islam yang lebih relevan dengan kebutuhan zaman.
