Abstract

Caring is central to nursing practice because caring is a dynamic approach, where nurses work to further improve their care for patients. Patient satisfaction is an evaluation or assessment after using a service, that the chosen service at least meets or exceeds expectations. If the patient's family asks about the patient's illness then the nurse does not give an answer in accordance with the intention of the patient's family, it will cause anxiety and fear of the action procedures given to the patient. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between nurse caring and patient family satisfaction in the emergency room of Surakarta Mental Hospital. The criteria for respondents are the families of patients with patients who will be hospitalized at Dr. Arif Zainuddin Surakarta Hospital with a sample of 15 people. How to collect data is by giving a caring questionnaire and satisfaction questionnaire to the patient's family. The results obtained from the analysis with the Chi Square statistical test explained the results of asym sig. 0.001 (<0.05) and it can be concluded that there is a relationship between caring nurses and patient family satisfaction in the emergency room of Dr. Arif Zainudin Surakarta Hospital.

Abstract

Burn injuries are emergencies that pose a severe threat and require immediate action to save lives. The saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids in iodine leaf latex gel (Jatropha multifida Linn) are known to speed up the healing process for burn wounds. The research aimed to investigate the effect of iodin leaf latex gel on the recovery of grade II burn wounds in male mice (Mus musculus Linn). The research employed a true-experimental laboratory method with-a-post-test-only control design group at the Kusuma Husada University Laboratory in Surakarta. A total of 24 test mice were manipulated and divided into three groups: the positive control group, the negative control group, and the iodine leaf latex gel group. Burn wounds utilized a 1,5 cm superheated mental surface applied to the backs of the mice for 5-10 seconds to induce burn injuries. The observed parameters included the burn wound area, the percentage of burn wound healing, and the duration of burn wound healing. Data analysis operated One-Way ANOVA. The research revealed that iodine leaf latex gel had a restorative time of 8 days and healing percentage of 30,75%. It was better than the other control groups. The statistical analysis indicated significance (<0,05) in the burn wound recovery percentage. In conclusion, a 6% concentration of iodine leaf latex gel had a more favorable effect on burn wound healing than other control groups.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the silent killers as it often does not produce noticeable symptoms, and patients become aware of it only when the perceived illness has become severe. Hypertension could lead to complications if not promptly managed, and its management can be either pharmacological or non-pharmacological. Non-pharmacological approaches to reducing blood pressure are increasingly being studied, including the combination therapy of slow-deep breathing and warm water foot bathing. Slow-deep breathing involves slow and deep respiratory relaxation, while warm water foot bathing is a relaxation technique that utilizes warm water as a medium. The study aimed to determine the effect of slow-deep breathing and warm water foot bathing on blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group. The total sampling was 24 respondents. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test. The study revealed pre-intervention that the average systolic blood pressure was 160.63 mmHg, and the diastolic blood pressure was 95.42 mmHg. Post-intervention presented the average systolic blood pressure reduced to 140.42 mmHg, and the diastolic blood pressure decreased to 86.04 mmHg. The Wilcoxon test results obtained that the systolic blood pressure had a p-value of 0.000 (p-value < 0.05), and the diastolic blood pressure had a p-value of 0.000 (p-value < 0.05). Based on these results, there was an effect of slow-deep breathing and warm water foot bathing on blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is a neurological disorder caused by obstruction of blood flow to the brain, resulting in neuronal damage and decreased motor function, particularly upper extremity muscle weakness. This weakness limits patients’ daily activities, necessitating appropriate rehabilitative interventions. The combination of Hand Grip Strength and Range of Motion (ROM) exercises is believed to improve muscle strength through neuromuscular stimulation and increased muscle elasticity. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of combined Hand Grip Strength and ROM exercises on upper extremity muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Surakarta. Methods: A pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group was used. A total of 44 respondents were selected using accidental sampling. The intervention was administered twice daily for 10–15 minutes over three consecutive days. The Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) scale was used to measure muscle strength. Results: The findings revealed a significant improvement in muscle strength after the intervention, with p < 0.05. These results support that combining Hand Grip Strength and ROM exercises effectively enhances upper extremity muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Conclusion: There was a significant effect of the combination of ROM and Hand Grip Strength exercises on improving upper extremity muscle strength among non- hemorrhagic stroke patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital (ρ = 0.000 < 0.05). This study is expected to serve as a reference for rehabilitative nursing interventions and contribute to preventing permanent disability in stroke patients.
