Abstract

This research aims to analyze the performance of the Professional Certification Institute (LSP KP) for Marine and Fisheries during the period of 2019-2023. The performance of the LSP KP is measured based on indicators such as the number of certifications issued, the pass rate of competency test participants, and the level of stakeholder satisfaction. Data was collected through surveys, interviews, and related document analysis. The analysis results indicate an improvement in performance regarding the number of certifications issued; however, there are still challenges in service quality and the efficiency of the certification processing time. This research also identifies the factors that influence the performance of LSP, such as the availability of resources, the competence of assessors, and regulatory policies. The main conclusion of this research is that although the performance of LSP KP has improved, further enhancements are needed to reach higher standards. Recommendations are made for strengthening the capacity of assessors, improving infrastructure, and refining operational procedures. The implications of these recommendations include an improvement in the quality of certification and industry trust in LSP KP, which can ultimately contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the workforce in the maritime and fisheries sector.

Abstract

International remittances represent an important component of migrant workers’ financial management and family economic resilience. However, limited financial literacy, transaction costs, exchange-rate uncertainty, administrative complexity, payment delays, data security risks, and insufficient understanding of consumer rights may prevent migrant workers from using formal remittance services optimally. This community service activity aimed to strengthen conceptual understanding of secure, transparent, accessible, and accountable digital remittances, particularly within the Indonesia–Japan migrant worker ecosystem. The activity was conducted through participatory attendance at the Ria Kyodai Connect 2026 workshop, participant observation, interactive discussion, document review, activity documentation, academic reflection, and the formulation of recommendations. The workshop was held on 9 July 2026 at the Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta and involved representatives of the Ministry of Manpower, banks, cooperatives, approximately 20 sending organizations, training institutions, and remittance-service partners. The activity produced a structured mapping of digital remittance mechanisms, the promoter scheme, electronic Know Your Customer procedures, Japanese bank-account arrangements, auto-debit services, and cross-border payment monitoring. The findings also highlighted the need to balance operational efficiency with transparent fees and exchange rates, explicit consent, personal-data protection, freedom to choose financial services, transaction notification, cancellation rights, and accessible complaint mechanisms. Academically, the workshop provided relevant material on financial management education, risk management, digital service marketing, consumer protection, and further community-based financial literacy programmes for Indonesian migrant workers.

Abstract

Rapid changes in technology, work organisation, and competency requirements require training and human resource development managers to continuously update and verify their professional capabilities. This professional community engagement activity aimed to describe and reflect on the participation of a postgraduate lecturer from Universitas PTIQ Jakarta in the Recognition of Current Competency assessment organised by LSP MSDM Kompetensi Indonesia. A participatory-reflective approach with a descriptive qualitative design was applied. The activity was conducted on 11 July 2026 at Hotel Enso, MM2100 Industrial Estate, Cibitung, Bekasi Regency. The author participated as an assessee in the Training and Human Resource Development Manager scheme. Data were obtained from participant observation, activity documentation, assessment schedules, portfolio preparation, professional clarification, assessor feedback, and reflective notes. The activity involved knowledge updating, evidence verification, clarification of professional experience, assessment against competency requirements, and reflection on further professional development. Based on the evidence and assessment process, assessor Dr. I Wayan G.S. Dewantara recommended the author as Competent. The recommendation was subsequently interpreted as a starting point for continuous professional learning rather than the completion of competency development. The activity generated reflective learning, teaching-case materials, academic dissemination, and opportunities for collaboration between higher education and professional certification institutions. Its community engagement value lies in transferring the lessons learned from individual competency assessment to academic and professional communities.
