Abstract

Every workplace has a risk of workplace accidents. In general, workplace accidents are caused by two factors, namely human actions that do not meet work safety standards and environmental conditions that do not meet safety standards. Accident prevention efforts can be carried out by identifying potential risks. The general objective of this study is to conduct an analysis of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) risks using the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) method on Container Crane Workers at PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas New Makassar in 2024. The type of research conducted is quantitative research. Sampling in this study used total sampling with the same number of samples as a sample of 30 respondents. Hazard identification is carried out by conducting interviews and observations of container crane workers. In contrast, risk assessment is carried out by distributing questionnaires assessing the level of possibility and severity of the risk of each potential hazard. After knowing the risk index, risk control is then determined. Based on the research results, 10 potential sources of danger were obtained for container crane workers with a potential danger of 66.7%, risk assessment based on four work steps where work step 1 was 86.7% with a high-risk category and work step 2 was 83.3% with a low-risk category, work steps 3 and 4 were included in the low-risk category. Controls that can be carried out to reduce risk include using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for workers and administrative controls.

Abstract

Stunting poses a significant challenge in Indonesia, particularly in Gowa Regency, which ranks fourth highest for stunting cases in South Sulawesi, according to the 2018 Riskesdas data. In Pallangga District specifically, the community's knowledge about stunting remains low, mainly due to varying levels of education among residents. This study analyzes the relationship between community education levels and knowledge about stunting in the Pekang Labbu Environment of Tetebatu Village, Pallangga District, Gowa Regency, in 2024. Using a quantitative method with a descriptive statistical approach, data were collected through questionnaires completed by 200 respondents. The findings revealed a significant correlation between the level of education and knowledge about stunting; individuals with lower education levels tended to have less understanding of the issue. This study highlights the crucial role of community education in raising awareness and preventing stunting, and it offers recommendations for more targeted health education programs.

Abstract

Work fatigue is when a person experiences a decline in physical and mental condition due to heavy and continuous work activities. Seaweed farming is a job with high work intensity, such as the harvesting stage, which is carried out above the water surface and exposed to sunlight. This condition can impact productivity, work quality, and worker health. The research used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. This study aims to determine fatigue-related issues in seaweed farmers in Tanjung Harapan Village. Based on the study's results, no statistically significant relationship was found between health status and the level of work fatigue, indicated by a p-value of 0.056. Work duration with the level of work fatigue (p = 0.03) showed a relationship, as did the intensity of the workload with the level of fatigue felt by workers (p = 0.02). Meanwhile, nutritional status did not show a significant relationship with the level of work fatigue. (p = 0.687). Based on the study results, it can be concluded that health status and nutritional status have no relationship with work fatigue, while work duration and workload have a relationship with work fatigue.

Abstract

Waste management remains a significant challenge in Dusun Balinappang, Desa Bontoramba, Kecamatan Pallangga, Kabupaten Gowa, Makassar City. Low community awareness regarding waste sorting and proper management has led to a decline in environmental health quality. Improper waste management can result in various environmental problems, such as water, soil, and air pollution. To address this issue, a community service activity was conducted with the aim of improving public knowledge and awareness on proper waste management through the 3R approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The method used for this activity involved education through the use of posters. The posters were designed to be visually engaging and simple, making them easy for the community to understand. This visual medium effectively conveyed information about the importance of waste sorting and applying the 3R principles. Additionally, pre-tests and post-tests were used as evaluations to measure the change in participants’ knowledge before and after receiving the education. The pre-test was conducted to assess participants' initial understanding, while the post-test helped determine the extent of their knowledge improvement regarding 3R concepts and waste management practices. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the community’s understanding of 3R principles and proper waste management techniques. The community began to demonstrate positive behavior changes, such as sorting household waste more carefully and reusing materials that could be recycled. This shift contributed positively to raising environmental awareness and improving the health of the local community. With this simple yet effective education, it is hoped that the program can continue and be expanded to other areas. This initiative will contribute to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment, which will have a long-term positive impact on the quality of life for the community.
