Abstract

The issues of this research are based on the lack of guidance for converts, who are new to Islam and are still vulnerable in their faith. The purpose of this research is to find out the extent of the development of converts to Islam and to see the guidance implemented by the Mualaf Center Foundation in implementing their programmes. This research uses a qualitative method with a fielld relselarch. Data were collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews with converts who participated in the coaching programme at the Indonesian Mualaf Center Foundation in Pematang Siantar City. The purposive sampling technique was used to select informants who are relevant and have significant experience in the coaching programme. The data obtained were then analysed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and main themes that emerged related to the effectiveness of the converts' coaching program. The results of this study indicate that the Indonesian Mualaf Center Foundation in Pematang Siantar City has successfully fostered converts through various structured programmes. The converts reported improved ability to read the Quran and a better understanding of the teachings of Islam. The coaching programme includes religious classes, Quran reading training, and social support. The foundation's success is also evident from the high level of satisfaction among converts, who feel more integrated and supported within the Muslim community. Challenges faced include the need for more resources and trained teaching personnel.

Abstract

The role of religious moderation is very important in the school environment, because school is the place where students spend most of their time and receive a lot of influence from peers and teachers. In a multicultural environment such as at SMP Negeri 04 Kualuh Hulu, religious moderation can help students develop mutual respect and understanding of existing differences. This research aims to explore the influence of religious moderation on the religious behavior of generation Z at SMP Negeri 04 Kualuh Hulu. The research method used is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The analysis technique applied is Descriptive Analysis which provides a complete and orderly picture of the research object. Data was collected through observation and interviews with primary data sources in the form of three teachers and three students, as well as secondary data from previous studies. The research results show that students' understanding of religious moderation at SMP Negeri 04 Kualuh Hulu is quite diverse. Some students understand and apply the concept of religious moderation well, while others still show extreme or apathetic tendencies. The implementation of religious moderation in this school helps some students develop attitudes of tolerance and mutual respect, but there are still challenges in implementing it as a whole. Family environmental factors and the influence of social media also influence students' understanding and behavior regarding religious moderation. Therefore, further efforts and collaboration between schools and parents are needed to increase understanding and implementation of religious moderation among students.

Abstract

Fundamentalisme bukanlah fenomena tunggal yang dapat ditemukan dalam tradisi keagamaan mana pun. Bisa jadi reaksi terhadap penindasan sosial, politik, atau bahkan budaya yang mengasingkan nilai-nilai spiritual keagamaan bahkan mencabut nilai-nilai agama dari kancah kehidupan modern dengan setumpuk isme oksident-sentris. Bisa juga muncul semata-mata karena paham keagamaan yang diyakini oleh sekelompok penganut agama terhadap doktrin kitab suci. Ia menggunakan metode subjektivis dan objektivis untuk memahami konstruksi fundamentalisme agama dan realitasnya. Menurut pendekatan subjektivis, bekal pengetahuan berupa pengalaman, imajinasi, gagasan, interaksi, dan segala arketipe kehidupan mempengaruhi munculnya fundamentalisme agama di luar otoritas tekstual kitab suci yang diyakininya. Perspektif objektivis, di sisi lain, berpandangan bahwa fundamentalisme sebagai fenomena keagamaan dalam konteks Islam berkembang sebagai akibat pemahaman suatu kelompok bahwa Islam meliputi segala aspek (Islam syumul), dan harus diimplementasikan secara penuh di semua ranah dan ruang kehidupan. Jurnal ini menganggap agama mencakup masalah sosial, budaya, ekonomi, dan bahkan politik selain ritual seperti sholat dan puasa. Abstract

This thesis is entitled Knowledge of Youth About Religious Moderation in Batang Gunung Village, Lembah Melintang District, Pasaman Barata Regency. The formulation of the problem is how is the concept of religious moderation and how is the knowledge of adolescents in the Batang Gunung village, sub-district across West Pasaman district about religious moderation. There are also findings from the results of this study indicating that Adolescent Knowledge About Religious Moderation in Batang Gunung Village, Lembah Melintang District, Pasaman Barata Regency is a process of explaining the purpose and importance of having knowledge of religious moderation, so that it is easy to know a difference, and to create love in society religion, protecting the rights of shared beliefs, giving freedom to believe in beliefs according to one's conscience, and realizing peace in social life. The results of this study indicate that the majority of respondents have an "adequate" level of knowledge about religious moderation, namely as many as 15 people or the same (48.4%). As for the respondents who had a "low" level of knowledge about religious moderation, namely as many as 12 people or the same as (38.7%). Meanwhile, there were 4 respondents who had a “good” level of knowledge about religious moderation or the same (12.9%). So, measuring the level of knowledge about religious moderation in class VI students is included as "low" because the proportion of their overall level of knowledge is less than 55% (<55%)

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the heritage of the Serdang Sultanate in Serdang Bedagai Regency, there are Serdang Sultanate sites that still exist and are maintained as a preservation effort that is widely recognized and preserved. The type of research used is qualitative with a historical approach, primary data is collected through literature study, observation and documentation of existing historical sites, secondary data completes studies related to themes related to the title through published scientific writing sources; books, theses and journal articles as support for this research. The findings explain the importance of understanding and maintaining the history of the Serdang Sultanate as an integral part of cultural heritage. The construction of a replica of the Darul Arif Palace is concrete evidence of care and determination to maintain authenticity and revive the history of the Serdang Sultanate. The renovation of the Sulaimaniyah Mosque shows a commitment to maintaining the continuity of the main function of the mosque as a center of worship and a silent witness to the development of the Serdang Sultanate. The maintenance of the tombs of sultans reflects a deep appreciation for historical figures.

Abstract

The main problem in this study discusses "Islamic Views Against Islamophobia" divided into two sub-problems, namely: 1) What is meant by Islamophobia; 2) What is the attitude of Islam towards Islamophobia. This study aims to look at Islamophobia, Islamic attitudes towards Islamophobia, and provide views of students of the Study of Religions regarding Islamic views on Islamophobia. In this research, a descriptive approach is used to provide accurate and factual descriptions and descriptions of properties, facts, relationships, views, activities, attitudes, processes, and how phenomena can impact them. Library research collects data and information from the library to be used as a basis for research. In addition, this research was conducted through a historical approach; the aim of this approach is to trace how certain ideas arose and developed over a period of time. The findings obtained from this study are that in the Islamic view, Islamophobia occurs through immoral acts by caring for Muslims. Even though Islam itself forbids mutual respect for all religions and beliefs, so there is no place for hate or hatred towards Muslims. Islam also emphasizes the importance of calm, safety and prosperity among human beings, regardless of religion, race or culture. The results of this study are that Islamophobia occurs because of a bad attitude towards Islam, the culprit could be through people who are non-Muslims and people who are Muslims themselves. Views about Islam which are considered to tend to be oppressive and tend to be violent in spreading terror. Therefore, views about Islam can be conveyed more optimally through various available facilities such as through the mass media. Efforts to introduce beauty, values of tolerance, love, brotherhood and Islamic compatibility with today's developments have become easier to do.

Abstract

This paper specifically examines Ibn Khaldun's political thought which is the basis of religious and state values. In this paper, the values of Ibn Khaldun's thought are raised, starting from tracing the historical aspects and socio-political conditions in his life journey and conducting a review by doing keywords relevant to the title that the author has set. This type of research is qualitative with the Library Reasearch method, data sources are obtained through the literature of journal articles, books, theses, the internet, and the web related to the object to be studied, the data is analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data analysis and conclusion drawing to obtain accurate and objective information. Based on the above, the findings in this paper are that the figure of Ibn Khaldun provides colors and lessons through his works and in his life journey in every aspect of the sector such as, state, social, economic, cultural and education which has always been a reference and study of Muslim intellectuals. The values that can be taken in the study of Ibn Khaldun's character can be concluded, namely the value of leadership, religion and state, economy and socio-culture.

Abstract

In the digital age, marked by advances in information technology and the expansion of social media, the religious identity of young people has undergone significant transformation. This study examines how the younger generation, particularly Indonesian Muslim youth, form and express their religious identity through digital spaces. Using a qualitative approach based on recent studies (2019–2025), it was found that digital media serves a dual role as both a platform for spiritual learning and a space for negotiating values. Adolescents are no longer passive recipients of religious teachings but active agents in constructing religious narratives that align with their context. The concepts of hybrid identity, online hijrah communities, and communicative religious practices have become new patterns in the religiosity of Generation Z. However, these dynamics also present challenges such as value fragmentation and superficial religious symbolism. This study recommends a more reflective, participatory, and adaptive approach to religious education that is responsive to digital culture as a strategy to strengthen the spirituality of teenagers in a holistic manner.

Abstract

This study discusses the problematics of splinter groups (splinter sects) that have emerged in Dolok Manampang Village and their impact on the religious and social life of the local community. This phenomenon has drawn attention due to the emergence of teachings that deviate from mainstream Islam, both theologically and in ritual practices. The research focuses on several key aspects: the identity and doctrinal deviations of the splinter group, the resulting social and religious impacts, the responses of the community and religious leaders, and efforts to strengthen faith and maintain social harmony. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using data collection techniques such as interviews, observation, and document analysis. The findings show that the presence of the splinter group has caused unrest among residents, leading to disrupted social harmony and polarization in community relations. Religious leaders and community members have responded with various approaches, including rejection, religious education, and open dialogue to prevent further conflict. Comprehensive strategies are needed to counter the negative influence of such groups, including strengthening faith-based education within the community, inclusive religious counseling, and collaboration among religious leaders, educational institutions, and village authorities. These efforts aim to preserve social cohesion, reinforce religious conviction, and prevent social disintegration caused by extreme ideological differences.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of the belief system of Panca Sraddha in Hinduism and the pillars of faith (rukn al-iman) in Islam through a text-based comparative theological approach. The research is motivated by the growing need to understand the theological foundations of two major religions that are often simplistically juxtaposed in interfaith discourse. Employing library research as its method, this study applies philosophical hermeneutics and reflective engagement with sacred texts, including the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Vedas, and the Qur’an. The findings reveal that while Panca sraddha and the Islamic pillars of faith serve similar normative functions as the foundations of belief, they differ significantly in terms of epistemological, ontological, and soteriological structures. These differences are particularly evident in concepts such as Brahman–Allah, atman–ruh, karma–deeds, punarbhava–punarbhava-the Day of Judgment, and moksa–heaven. The study contributes to the development of interreligious discourse in Indonesia by offering a theologically grounded and context-sensitive analytical framework. Nonetheless, the research has limitations, including restricted access to traditional Hindu commentaries and limited direct engagement with religious authorities from both traditions. These challenges underscore the need for further studies employing interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to deepen interreligious understanding.
