Abstract

Misconceptions in using ‘adad and ma‘dūd often occur among students of Arabic language. This happens because of the differences in concept between Arabic and Malay grammar. The system of categorisation, concept as well as type of ‘adad and ma‘dūd in Arabic grammar differs from the concepts used by the native language of the learner. This study aimed at testing the effectiveness of a learning module on ‘adad and ma‘dūd based on al-Quran verses for overcoming problems of misconceptions in learning the topic. Previous studies have shown that al-Quran has enough resources for constructing a module related to the topic. Meanwhile the ADDIE approach was found very helpful in helping to construct a learning module on ‘adad and ma‘dūd. Through the suggested phases the module was built by categorising ‘adad into three groups based on similar characteristics in each group namely same ‘adad, opposite ‘adad and neutral‘adad.  The findings show that application of the module using al-Quran verses in learning was effective in raising student achievement in ‘adad and ma‘dūd. In all sections it was found that enhanced achievement was encouraging. Students made fewer mistakes in matching ‘adad, in determining matching ma‘dūd, in translating sentences containing ‘adad and ma‘dūd as well as better determining the i‘rāb rules for application. The findings indicate that using a special module is able to overcome the problems in conceptual application among students of second language, especially in topics likely to cause confusion in students

Abstract

The Arabic vowel consists of three main vowels namely /a/ (fathah), the vowel /i/ (kasrah), and the vowel /u/ (dhammah). This study aims to analyze the vowels of the Arabic present tense in the pattern' af'al which is determined by the arrangement of letters. This study also aims to help read active verbs of yaf’al Arabic among Arabic language students who have difficulty determining the correct vowel of the three vowel fractions. In addition, this study can help linguists in general and Arabic in particular to determine the vowel reading of the letter 'ain (ع) on the active verb pattern of modern Arabic' af'al which is divided into vowels / a / (fathah), vowel /i/ (kasrah), and the vowel /u/ (dammah). This study uses a qualitative method. Samples of this study were taken from Al-Khalil dictionary as well as al-Ma'aniy online dictionary. Only three syllable active verbs are analyzed as the three syllable active verbs in Arabic will change to three different vowels when in the verb tense. The analysis is focused on the arrangement of the letters' ain (ع) in the past tense verb. Clearly, the study's findings have shown that the arrangement of 'ain (ع) on the active Arabic verb of the past affects the vowel on the 'ain (ع) active verb of the present Arabic. At the same time, this study provides an alternative that shows that the vowels at the letter 'ain (ع) of the active Arabic verb of the present time are non-random.

Abstract

This study is about the al-Khabar language register found in the verses of the two-way dialogue in the Qur'an. The dialogue applies question-answer between two parties. Al-Khabar is a speech that has the probability of authenticity or falsity. This study explores the delivery method of al-khabar by the Qur'an dialogue process and analyzes its functionality. The analysis is carried out using a qualitative approach using the theory of al-Jurjani (1994), al-Hashimi (1994), and al-Samarra'i (2000) as the basic framework of analysis. The findings show that not all bilateral dialogues in the Qur'an begin with the first level and end with the third level. There is a dialogue that only uses ibtida level, level of talibi and inkari, and level of ibtida', talibi dan inkari. The findings also show that the nominal sentence or jumlah ismiyyah is used in verses in the form of Divine recognition. In contrast, the jumlah ismiyyah and jumlah fi'liyyah are used in attitude, behavior, and actions. For underscoring eternity, the al-Khabar register also uses the al-Shart wa al-Jawab language style.

Abstract

Background: In today’s era, where critical thinking and problem-solving are vital competencies, the integration of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) into educational resources, particularly textbooks, has become an important benchmark for quality learning. Aims: This study aims to identify HOTS exercises in Arabic textbooks of Madrasah Aliyah class X published by Quadra in 2022 in terms of Bloom's revised taxonomy theory at the cognitive level of C4, or Analysing, C5, Evaluating, and C6 Creating. Methods: This research employs document analysis techniques (content analysis) within a qualitative descriptive approach to examine the object in depth using primary data. The researcher directly observed the book's content and analysed the HOTS elements in the exercise questions. These were then categorised according to the levels of the revised Bloom's Taxonomy, and conclusions were drawn based on the classifications. Results: The results reveal that although HOTS elements are present in each theme, they are relatively few. The distribution shows C4 (2.4%), C5 (5.2%), and C6 (9.1%), indicating a predominance of LOTS (Lower Order Thinking Skills) over HOTS. Implications: The findings imply the need for improvement and development of question exercises in Arabic textbooks to include aspects of higher order thinking skills (HOTS), especially at the C4 (analyze), C5 (evaluate), and C6 (create) levels, in order to support more critical, analytical, and creative learning in accordance with the demands of the 21st century curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the level of digital education usage in learning Arabic among non-native speakers at a Chinese university, and to examine the influence of gender and duration of language teaching on this usage. The study adopted a descriptive analytical approach and utilized a questionnaire distributed to 151 students studying at Northwest Normal University. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, and the questionnaire focused on three main domains: digital learning channels, academic areas, and accessibility. The results showed that the overall digital education usage was at an “upper-medium” level, with no statistically significant differences related to gender or length of language learning. These findings indicate a general consistency in technology usage across different student groups, highlighting the importance of a supportive digital environment in promoting equal learning opportunities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe teachers’ and students’ perceptions about E-learning used in Minhah's class at the Markaz Arabiyah Arabic course institution. Technological progress is necessary and affects all aspects of life, including education. The influence of technological advancement can be found in the emergence of e-learning as an interactive learning media innovation that can be utilized in realizing active, innovative and independent learning and not only supporting students in mastering materials but also accelerating students in mastering 21st-century learning competencies. E-learning is becoming the right choice to realize effective distance learning. The method used in this research was a survey research method with a quantitative approach. Data were collected using observation techniques, questionnaires, and literature studies. The results showed that the Markaz Arabiyah e-learning used in learning at the Minhah Mesir Program was categorized as good in the visual aspect and quite good in the media engineering aspect, with an average percentage for the visual aspect of 79.2% and for the media engineering aspect of 71%. These results indicated that e-learning had a good appearance and features adjusted to progress technology and students' needs in accessing practice questions. However, regarding content and material aspects, Markaz Arabiyah was in a bad category with an average percentage score of 44% each. The category was not good for both indicators because the Markaz Arabiyah e-learning did not yet contain material and was only used as a learning evaluation media.

Abstract

Trans culture is a cross-cultural condition which can develop or survive within the life of a community. Religion and culture as the pillars for unity in the cross-cultural era can potentially develop into liberalism. This study aims to reveal the process of religious and cultural liberalism along with the solutions. It uses a qualitative-analysis method with hermeneutic approach based on the thoughts of the figures of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in East Java. To collect the data, the researchers conduct in-depth interviews and data analysis of the works and news on religious and cultural liberalism. The study discovers the dialectic model of religious liberalism by making human rights the main source of law, which is called theological-capitalism. Besides, it finds cultural liberalism in the form of an identity crisis, which is called enculturation-liberalism. To overcome the religious liberalism, we can use clarification techniques and logical-systematic thinking. Meanwhile, the solution to deal with cultural liberalism is through cultural realism and socio-cultural learning.
