Abstract

Background: An android-based application called ‘Tele-Heart Nursing Care’/TNC aims to assist remote monitoring for heart failure patients. By improving self-care through daily monitoring and efforts to increase adherence to therapy, it is expected to prevent 30-day readmission rates. Purpose: To test the usability and feasibility of the application by users, the System Usability Scale (SUS) was used, a standardized questionnaire that has been declared valid and reliable with a Cronbach Alpha value of 0.778. This stage of testing is a continuation of the previous testing by expert cardiologists, cardiac specialist nurses and IT experts. Methods: This study used quantitative methodology using SUS questionnaires to 10 heart failure patients at Dr M. Salamun Hospital Bandung in June 2024. Sampling with a cross-sectional approach with a minimum number to conduct testing. After patients accessed the TNC application then they filled out the SUS questionnaire. Results: From the ten questions in the SUS questionnaire, the average score of all respondents was 78.6 with a letter grade of B. The Tele-heart Nursing Care application can be used well by respondents, although there are still difficulties with the registration system, language use and other difficulties related to the use of applications related to the elderly. Conclusions: It can be concluded that the use of the Tele-heart Nursing Care Application can be used properly by respondents. And in the future, the use of TNC applications can be widely used in heart failure patients.

Abstract

Many factors affect the duration of wound healing including age, gender, nutrition, wound degree, blood sugar control, wound care, physical activity. Most people with diabetes mellitus experience wounds that are difficult to heal and some even end up in amputation cases. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that can inhibit wound healing. This research method uses descriptive quantitative using a non-probability sampling technique research design. The population in this study were all patients in the Gardenia inpatient room who had wounds with a history of diabetes mellitus from January to April as many as 55 patients. Data collection methods using questionnaires and observation sheets that have been prepared by researchers in accordance with the objectives of the study, questionnaires and research observation sheets are prepared based on theoretical reviews. The results illustrate that the relationship between age and wound degree has a p value of 0.027. The relationship between gender and wound degree had a p value of 0.004. The relationship between nutrition and wound degree had a p value of 0.009. The relationship between blood sugar control and wound degree had a p value of 0.000. The relationship between wound care and wound degree had a p value of 0.000. The relationship between physical activity and wound degree had a p value of 0.000. It can be concluded that age, gender nutrition, blood sugar control, wound care management, physical activity with wound degree have a significant relationship in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Objective: To create and validate the expert validity evidence and content of a prototype mobile application for preventing 30 days readmission among heart failure patients. Method: Examination of technology advancement from the perspective of contextualized instructional design. During the analysis phase, five patients participated in a qualitative study and scope review to determine the content that would be included in the application. In the validation stage, cardiologist, specialist nurses and IT expert evaluated the content through face validity assessment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The prototype of the application, called “Tele-Heart Nursing Care” has an interface and free navigation screens covering the Daily Monitoring for heart failure patients include Vital sign and Sign-Symptom monitoring, adherence of diet, exercise and medication. The app also features an educational guide, resources for early recognition of clinical signs, do's and don'ts to prevent the risk of relapse. The consultation feature is also available in a wide selection of themes for patients to choose from. Both the target audience and experts found the technology to be sufficient. Conclusion: It was feasible to create and verify the look and content of the “Tele-Heart Nursing Care” application prototype, which demonstrates the potential to promote self-care in people with heart failure

Abstract

Background: Heart Failure (HF) remains a major cause of morbidity, mortality, and recurrent hospitalization, often associated with inadequate self-care. Although educational interventions can support HF self-management, evidence on HF-Care educational media in the Indonesian healthcare context remains limited. This study evaluated the effectiveness of HF-Care educational media on self-care among patients with heart failure. Methods: A two-week quasi-experimental two-group pretest–posttest study following the TREND guideline was conducted at an Indonesian military teaching hospital in Bandung. Forty-six patients with HF were recruited using purposive sampling and allocated to an intervention group or control group, with 23 participants in each group. The intervention group received HF-Care educational media in addition to usual care, while the control group received usual care only. Self-care was measured using the Self-Care of HF Index Version 7.2. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-tests, and independent-samples t-tests. Results: Self-care improved in both groups, with greater improvement in the intervention group. The intervention group had significantly higher posttest self-care scores than the control group, with a mean difference of 27.00 points (95% CI: 21.80–32.20; p < 0.001) and a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 3.14).. Conclusion: HF-Care educational media may serve as an effective evidence-based nursing intervention to improve self-care among patients with heart failure. Future multicenter studies with larger samples, randomized designs, and longer follow-up are needed to confirm its sustainability and broader applicability.

Abstract

The World Health Organization reports that approximately 1.13 billion people worldwide are living with hypertension, meaning that one in three individuals globally is diagnosed with this condition. In 2022, the number of people with hypertension in Bandung reached 706,051 cases. Hypertension management can be carried out through various non-pharmacological therapies, including bay leaf decoction, celery juice, ginger decoction, date infused water, lemon and watermelon infused water, and cucumber infused water. Cucumber infused water contains high levels of magnesium, calcium, potassium, and flavonoids, which may help reduce blood pressure. This study aimed to determine the effect of cucumber infused water on blood pressure among patients with hypertension at Babakan Sari Community Health Center. The study employed a pre-experimental (quasi-experimental) design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 36 participants were included. The analysis showed a significant reduction in blood pressure after the administration of cucumber infused water, with a p-value less than ? = 0.05. A significant difference was observed in systolic blood pressure before and after the intervention (Z = ?5.324, p = 0.000), as well as in diastolic blood pressure (Z = ?5.362, p = 0.001). These results indicate that cucumber infused water has a significant effect on lowering blood pressure among pre-elderly patients with hypertension at Babakan Sari Community Health Center. This intervention is expected to be applied in daily life as an alternative non-pharmacological approach for hypertension management
