Abstract

Pendahuluan: ​Wanita dikatakan telah menopause jika sudah tidak mengalami menstruasi selama 12 bulan sejak menstruasi terakhir.keluhan menopause menunjukkan hasil perubahan fisik dengan kontrasepsi hormonal 64 (94,1%) dan keluhan fisik dengan kb non hormonal 6 (66,7%).Keluhan menopause biasanya ditandai dengan keluhan-keluhan fisik dan psikologis. Keluhan yang dirasakan pada masa menopause sangat beragam dan bersifat individual salah satunya disebabkan riwayat penggunaan kontrasepsi. Menurut studi pendahuluan di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sukaraja Nuban Lampung Timur  terdapat (80%) wanita memiliki riwayat KB Hormonal dimana keluhan fisik yang dialami adalahperubahan BB. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Mengetahui hubungan penggunaan alat kontrasepsi hormonal dengan keluhan menopause pada wanita di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sukaraja Nuban Lampung Timur. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif, desain penelitian observasi analitik dengan menggunakan pendekatan Cross sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua wanita menopause dengan jumlah sampel 76 orang dan Teknik pengambilan sampel ini dilakukan dengan cara total sampling Adapun penelitiannya di lakukan pada tanggal 23 Oktober s/d 20 November 2023 di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sukaraja Nuban Lampung Timur. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan Kuesioner dan Analisis data menggunkan Uji Chi Square. Hasil: Hasil penelitian sebagian besar responden menggunakan alat kontrasepsi hormonal berjumlah 48 (63,2%), dansebagian besar responden dengan keluhan menopause berat berjumlah 29 (38,9%), hasil uji statistik menunjukkan ada hubungan penggunaan alat kontrasepsi dengan keluhan menopause pada wanita Di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sukaraja Nuban Lampung Timur dengan nilai p-value 0,001. Simpulan: Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan informasi bagi wanitayang menggunakan alat kontrasepsi hormonal terhadap keluhan menopause pada wanita, sehingga wanita dapat menangani mengetahui penyebab dan faktor keluhan yang dialami saat menopause.

Abstract

The β-TCP material is a material of ceramic that often used in the medical and dental fields as a bone substitute material because it has biocompatible, bioresorbable and osteoconductive properties. Apart from that, this material is also biocompatible with tooth tissue, is non-inflammatory, and can regenerate dentin. Several studies have shown that the properties of β-TCP material can be a candidate for pulp capping material. These studies have also been carried out on experimental animals and showed good results. This article reviews the potential of β-TCP as a candidate pulp capping material in dentistry.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Supra-nano spherical filled composite resin (Omnichroma, Tokuyama, Japan) with sol-gel method has 0.26 μm filler size, while nanohybrid composite resin (ENA HRi, Micerium, Italy) has 0.2-1 μm filler size. Nanofillers enhance resistance from chlorogenic acid contained in Coffea arabica. This study analyzed the surface roughness difference between supra-nano spherical-filled and nanohybrid composite resins after Coffea arabica immersion for 7 and 14 days, with 15 minutes of immersion each day. Methods: This study was an in vitro laboratory experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. Twenty composite resin samples were immersed in artificial saliva and divided into four groups; supra-nano coffee, nanohybrid coffee, supra-nano saliva (control), and nanohybrid saliva (control). After 24 hours, immersion in Coffea arabica was started for supra-nano coffee group and nanohybrid coffee group for 15 minutes daily until days 7 and 14. Control groups were immersed in saliva. Results: One-way ANOVA showed significant differences in the surface roughness between composite resin groups. Post-hoc Tukey showed a significant difference between supra-nano coffee (0.91± 0.29 μm) and nanohybrid saliva (1.43±0.42 μm). The GLM Repeated Measure test showed significant surface roughness changes in supra-nano after 14 days of immersion in Coffea arabica (1.47±0.13 μm), while nanohybrid experienced surface roughness changes in 7 days of immersion in Coffea arabica (1.94±0.55 μm) and increased in 14 days (2.25±0.47 μm). In saliva immersion (control group), nanohybrid experienced an increase in surface roughness after 14 days, while supra-nano did not experience a significant increase in surface roughness. Conclusion: Supra-nano spherical filled composite resin exhibits greater resistance to changes in surface roughness following immersion in Coffea arabica.KEYWORDSCoffea arabica, nanohybrid, composite resin, supra-nano spherical filled, surface roughness

Abstract

Crowded teeth are one of the dental and oral health issues that need attention in Indonesia. Crowded teeth can be caused by genetic factors, growth abnormalities, or bad habits formed from a young age. Knowledge about the causes, impacts, prevention, and treatment of crowded teeth is important to enhance from an early age. The Community Service activity by the Faculty of Dentistry team from Trisakti University aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the GBI HMJ Jakarta congregation in recognizing, preventing, and treating dental crowding issues. This activity involved 34 members of GBI HMJ Jakarta, consisting of administrators and the community. The educational material provided consists of the causes, effects, prevention, and treatment of crowded teeth. The training materials include simulations on how to brush teeth and use dental floss. The evaluation of the activity implementation shows an increase in knowledge with a significant difference in the average pre-test and post-test scores (p=0.000). This increase in knowledge is expected to reduce the negative impact of dental and oral health issues, particularly crowded teeth, in the community.

Abstract

The process of dental demineralization can lead to the dissolution of minerals in hydroxyapatite crystals, increasing interprismatic spaces and decreasing enamel hardness. This demineralization can be inhibited through remineralization, supported by natural ingredients such as brown anchovy, which have potential as remineralizing agents. The remineralization process can be observed through changes in enamel microhardness and microporosity. Objectives: This article aims to provide information about the potential of brown anchovy and its effects on enamel microhardness and microporosity. Conclusion: There is potential of brown anchovy and its benefit in teeth remineralization.

Abstract

Introduction: Microleakage is one of the factors which may cause failure in a root canal treatment by the inadequate obturation. There are two materials that are required to do obturation which are gutta-percha and sealer. Examination of microleakage by bacterial leakage method is more similar to clinical condition. On the other hand, bacteria are smaller than dye solution molecules, so that they will give more sensitive results. Objective: The purpose of this research is to determine the differences between the effect of resin and bioceramic sealer on microleakage. Methods: The subjects were 18 first mandibular premolars which were cut leaving 13 mm of root section and prepared with crown down technique to a size of 30/0.07, then the samples were divided into two groups and were obturated using resin and bioceramic sealer. The microleakage examination was carried out using bacterial leakage method using Enterococcus faecalis. All samples except controls were inoculated with Enterococcus faecalis bacteria on the coronal chamber. Results: Chi-square test showed no significant differences between each group (p> 0.05). The difference that occur is only "survival time" of the result of the resin sealer that leaked faster than bioceramic sealer. Conclusion: There is no difference between resin and bioceramic sealer on microleakage due to bacterial penetration.

Abstract

Introduction: Nanofill composite resin with its filler particle 0.005-0.1 µm can have better polishing result so that as a restoration it is more resistant towards staining that is susceptible to occur by the exposure to food and beverage. Polishing is done to improve the color stability of composite resin. Polishing techniques can be divided into one-step technique and multi-step technique. One of the staining agents, green tea tannin can cause discoloration in composite restoration. Objective: This research determine the effect of polishing techniques on the color change of nanofill composite resin after green tea immersion. Methods: The sample used was nanofill composite resin with the diameter of 10 mm and thickness of 2 mm. Samples were divided into 2 groups, 10 samples with one-step polishing technique and 10 samples with multi-step polishing technique. Samples were soaked in distilled water for 24 hours at 37oC and initial color measurements were taken. The treatment was given by immersing the samples in green tea solution for 5x24 hours at 37°C incubator. Measurements of the samples final color after the treatment were done after the fifth day. Results: One-step and multi-step polishing techniques affect the overall color value of the nanofill composite resin after treatment. The multi-step technique group had lower overall color value than the one-step technique (p=0.00). There were significant differences in the L, C, and H values after treatment with one-step and multi-step groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: The multi-step polishing technique produced better roughness reduction with the result that less color change.

Abstract

Introduction: Endocrown is an indirect restoration following the endodontic treatment made of ceramic material as a substitute for post core crown. The endocrown is cemented to the inner wall of the pulp chamber and to the cavity margins to increase the macromechanical retention. Material commonly used are monolithic zirconia and lithium disilicate; both can be obtained using the CAD/CAM technique. Good endocrown restoration must be able to handle the chewing workload especially on the posterior tooth. Objective: To determine the difference in fracture toughness of monolithic zirconia and lithium disilicate CAD/CAM endocrown. Methods: This study used 6 endocrown CAD/CAM samples, attached to typodont prototype in 3D resin printing model produced by the printing machine. Samples were divided into 2 groups. Group A were monolithic zirconia endocrowns and group B were lithium disilicate endocrowns. The fracture toughness was calculated using the Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Results: Fracture toughness of the monolithic zirconia endocrown were 2.747 N and lithium disilicate were 769 N. The unpaired t test showed that there was significant difference in fracture toughness between groups (p < 0,05). Conclusion: Monolithic zirconia endocrown has a higher fracture toughness compared to the lithium disilicate endocrown, but lithium disilicate is more recommended as an endocrown restoration material because its fracture toughness is closer to masticatory load of posterior teeth.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Trauma dapat menyebabkan nekrosis pulpa, resorpsi eksternal, gangguan proses penutupan bagian apikal, dan perubahan warna gigi. MTA memiliki aktivitas antimikroba, biokompatibilitas yang sangat baik, dan kemampuan sealing yang unggul. Bleaching intrakoronal dapat digunakan untuk mengembalikan warna gigi setelah perawatan endodontik. Perawatan apikal yang terbuka dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan MTA sebagai apical plug. Kasus trauma gigi yang disertai dengan diskolorasi dapat dilakukan bleaching intrakoronal serta MTA sebagai apical plug. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk melaporkan penatalaksanaan bleaching intrakoronal serta MTA sebagai apical plug. Laporan kasus: Seorang wanita 46 tahun mengeluhkan adanya fraktur dan perubahan warna pada gigi insisivus sentralis kanan rahang atas. Pemeriksaan klinis gigi 11 tidak responsif terhadap tes vitalitas, positif terhadap tes perkusi. Pemeriksaan radiografi terdapat radiolusensi di daerah periapikal. Diagnosis kasus ini nekrosis pulpa disertai periodontitis apikali simptomatik. Setelah perawatan saluran akar dan medikamen intrakanal menggunakan Ca(OH)2, MTA digunakan sebagai apical plug dan diikuti dengan obturasi dengan teknik warm vertical compaction. Bleaching intrakoronal dilakukan dan resin komposit digunakan untuk restorasi akhir. Setelah dua bulan follow up, prognosisnya baik dengan tidak ada perubahan warna gigi. MTA sebagai barrier di ujung saluran akar (apical plug) pada gigi dengan pulpa nekrotik dan apeks yang terbuka. Bleaching intrakoronal dengan hidrogen peroksida memberikan hasil estetika yang baik dalam waktu singkat dan tanpa efek samping. Simpulan: MTA apical plug dan bleaching intrakoronal efektif sebagai perawatan pada perubahan warna gigi non vital dengan apeks terbuka.Kata kunci: apeksifikasi, penutupan apikal, pemutihan, intra koronal, mineral trioksida agregat, apeks terbukaMineral trioxide aggregate apical plug and intracoronal bleaching on dental trauma: a case reportABSTRACTIntroduction: Trauma can cause pulp necrosis, external resorption, interference with the apical closure process, and tooth discoloration. MTA has antimicrobial activity, excellent biocompatibility, and superior sealing abilities. Internal bleaching can be used to restore tooth color after endodontic treatment. Management of open apex can be done using MTA as an apical plug. In cases of dental trauma accompanied by discoloration, intracoronal bleaching and MTA as an apical plug can be performed. This case report aims to report the management of intracoronal bleaching and MTA as an apical plug. Case report: A 46-year-old woman complained of fractured and discolored on her maxillary right central incisor. On clinical examination, tooth 11 was non responsive to vitality tests, positive to percussion test. Clinical examination of tooth 11 was unresponsive to vitality tests, positive to percussion tests. Radiographic examination showed radiolucency in the periapical area. After root canal treatment and intracanal medicament using Ca(OH)2, MTA was used as an apical plug and followed with warm vertical compaction obturation.  Intracoronal bleaching was performed and resin composite was used for the final restoration. After 2 months follow up, the prognosis was good with no reversal of tooth discoloration. MTA offers a barrier at the end of root canal (apical plug) in teeth with necrotic pulps and open apex. Intracoronal bleaching with hydrogen peroxide provides superior aesthetic results in a short period of time with no adverse effects. Conclusion: MTA apical plug and intracoronal bleaching were effective as management for discolored non-vital teeth with an open apex.Keyword: apexification, apical plug, intracoronal, bleaching, mineral trioxide aggregate, open apex.

Abstract

Introduction: Soda is a popular drink and contains sucrose as natural sweetener, and aspartame as artificial sweetener, both of which have acidic properties that affect the restorative material. Bulk-fill composite resin is a type of composite resin that can be polymerized with a thickness of 4-5 mm as well as better physical and mechanical properties for chewing forces. Objective: To determine the effect of immersion in soda containing sucrose and aspartame on the compressive strength of bulk-fill composite resins. Methods: This study used 30 samples of bulk-fill composite resin in the form of a cylinder with a diameter of 4 mm and a height of 6 mm, divided into 3 groups. Group A was immersed in artificial saliva for 24 hours. Group B was immersed in soda containing sucrose for 6 hours and in artificial saliva for 18 hours. Group C was immersed in soda containing aspartame for 6 hours and in artificial saliva for 18 hours. The samples were immersed for 6 days in an incubator at 37°C. The compressive strength was measured and calculated using the Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Results: The result of compressive strength on artificial salive immersion was 318,65 ± 30,23, on soda containing sucrose immersion was 312,59 ± 33,10, on soda containing aspartame immersion was 316,80 ± 23,49. One-Way ANOVA test showed that the compressive strength value of bulk-fill composite resin was not significantly different among groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The effect of immersion in soda containing sucrose and aspartame showed no difference on the compressive strength of bulk-fill composite resins. ABSTRAK Pendahuluan: Minuman soda merupakan minuman yang populer dan mengandung pemanis alami yaitu sukrosa dan pemanis buatan yaitu aspartam, keduanya memiliki sifat asam yang berpengaruh terhadap bahan restorasi. Resin komposit bulk-fill merupakan jenis resin komposit yang dapat dipolimerisasi dengan ketebalan 4-5 mm serta memiliki sifat fisik dan mekanik yang lebih baik untuk kekuatan kunyah. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh perendaman minuman soda mengandung sukrosa dan aspartam terhadap kekuatan tekan resin komposit bulk-fill. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel resin komposit bulk-fill berbentuk silinder dengan diameter 4 mm dan tinggi 6 mm sebanyak 30 sampel, sampel dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok. Kelompok A yang direndam dalam saliva buatan selama 24 jam, kelompok B yang direndam dalam soda mengandung sukrosa selama 6 jam dan 18 jam dalam saliva buatan, dan kelompok C yang direndam dalam soda mengandung aspartam 6 jam dan 18 jam dalam saliva buatan. Perendaman sampel dilakukan selama 6 hari dalam inkubator 37°C. Kekuatan tekan diuji dan dihitung menggunakan Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Hasil: Hasil kekuatan tekan pada saliva buatan 318,65 ± 30,23, pada soda mengandung sukrosa 312,59 ± 33,10, pada soda mengandung aspartam 316,80 ± 23,49. Uji dengan One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan nilai compressive strength resin komposit bulk-fill tidak berbeda signifikan antar tiap kelompok (p > 0,05). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat perbedaan pengaruh perendaman minuman soda mengandung sukrosa dan aspartam terhadap kekuatan tekan resin komposit bulk-fill.
