Abstract

Lokalisasi Doli merupakan perkampungan yang identik sebagai tempat prostitusi di wilayah Surabaya. Kebijakan Pemerintah Kota Surabaya tentang penutupan yang dilakukan mengakibatkan ekonomi masyarakat menurun secara drastis dan masyarakat yang kehilangan mata pencaharian, sedangkan kebutuhan hidup masih harus terus dipenuhi. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat adalah sebagai wadah peluang usaha dan sekaligus pengembangan bagi masyarakat Lokalisasi Doli. Hal ini sebagai upaya menuju masyarakat mandiri dan pengembangan yang berkelanjutan pasca ditutupnya Lokalisasi Doli. Salah satu peluang usaha yang bisa diimplementasikan adalah pembuatan sabun berbahan dasar alami. Sabun adalah kebutuhan dasar yang digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai alat kebersihan diri. Palm Oil dan Olive Oil merupakan minyak alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan sabun berbahan dasar alami. Palm Oil dan Olive Oil mengandung lemak nabati yang sangat baik untuk kesehatan kulit manusia. Hasil Pengabdian Masyarakat adalah didapatkan 40 responden yang mengikuti peluang usaha dan pengembangan sabun berbahan dasar alami sangat antusias terlihat dari interaksi dua arah antara peserta dan narasumber terutama pembahasan tentang pengembangan usaha yang dapat berkelanjutan. Selanjutnya, evaluasi berkala dilakukan oleh tim PPNS terhadap masyarakat terdampak penutupan lokalisasi doli guna menuju pengembangan wirausaha berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Aquadest is water from the result of distillation or what is usually called pure water. Aquadest water is water from distillation or what is usually called a process distillation. Aquadest, which is usually called aquadest, is not a water that is easy to find, because the price given is expensive and only used for one or even several specific things in particular chemistry practical activities. The purpose of this research is to review the evaporator and condenser in the distillation apparatus in order to obtain a product in the form of distilled water by examining the physical and chemical properties of distilled water. From the research that has been carried out it was concluded that the results of distilled water were of good quality in a distillation apparatus that is assembled with temperature and The optimum time is at a temperature of 100 C and 1 hour time, produces distilled water with levels TDS 9 mg/L, decent pH 6.12 used for practical purposes in laboratory

Abstract

Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) is the new evaluation system to monitor the education quality in Indonesia. Its implementation starts from 2021. This new system focuses on students’ literacy and numeracy skill without assessing any of school subjects. The purpose of this study is to investigate 1) the opportunities of AKM for English teachers and 2) the challenges of AKM for English teachers. Survey research with descriptive qualitative approach is used on this study. As instruments, online questionnaire and interview is utilized. The findings show that there are four opportunities; 1) English teachers tend to be happier, 2) English teachers are freer to implement certain teaching method, 3) English teachers could focus more on the use of English, not on test completion, and 4) English teachers could give more attention for students’ literacy. In addition, there are five challenges; 1) socialization about AKM is not yet done comprehensively, 2) most of students have less reading motivation, 3) it’s quite hard to connect English with numeration aspect, 4) teachers are having less experience in creating HOTS questions, 5) less skilful teacher in using technology.

Abstract

Indonesia produces 33,113,277.69 tons of waste per year, in which 13,455,925.41 tons are unmanaged waste. From these data, it can be seen that Indonesia is still experiencing problems in waste management. Unmanaged waste is at risk of being carried away by river currents that lead to the sea., Not only land-based waste, marine debris must also be adressed. Marine debris could possibly come from activities on land or at sea. Marine debris consists of three categories; macro, meso and micro marine debris. This paper is a narrative-review on how to dealt with marine debris in Indonesia. Several methods have been done by the Indonesian government to dealt with marine debris. In 2018, the Indonesian government issued Presidential regulation number 83 of 2018, concerning the handling of marine debris. Besides that, Indonesian government also formed National Plan of Action (NPOA) and opened itself to foreign investors to invest on that action plan, especially on adressing marine plastic debris. In addition to forming special team and supporting regulations, the complexity of marine debris problems must also be resolved by integrated research on marine debris, and also make changes on Indonesian human resources‘ mentality and mindset.

Abstract

Sektor maritim di Indonesia memiliki peranan yang sangat penting bagi perekonomian nasional maupun transportasi laut. Kapal, merupakan jantung dari sektor maritim berperan penting dalam menyediakan layanan bagi penumpang dan barang atau logistik. Perawatan kapal haruslah tetap terjaga agar tidak mengganggu kelancaran sistem operasionalnya. Di sebuah perusahaan kecil-menengah yang bergelut dalam bidang perkapalan, PT. Enver Balian Marine, membutuhkan pelatihan pekerja dalam bidang perbaikan interior kapal. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi 10 pekerja inti melalui pelatihan tentang keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3), penggunaan alat ukur, serta sistem modular dan desain ergonomis pada kapal. Program ini dilaksanakan pada Maret 2025 dengan tahapan; identifikasi masalah, penyusunan materi dan kegiatan, sosialisasi, pelatihan interaktif, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta pelatihan memberikan umpan balik yang baik untuk ketiga hal yang dinilai yakni; isi dan penyampaian pelatihan, kinerja trainer/pelatih, serta organisasi pelatihan. Nilai tertinggi ada pada kinerja pelatih yang dapat menyampaikan materi dengan jelas (4.9). Sedangkan nilai terendah ada pada keilmuan baru yang didapat dari pelatihan (4.6) dan juga media dari materi pelatihan seperti PPT dan handout (4.6). Sehingga untuk kedepannya, sangat direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas visual materi dan penambahan waktu praktek secara langsung. Program ini tidak hanya menjembatani peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pekerja, tetapi juga memperkuat kerjasama antara perguruan tinggi dan mitra industri.

Abstract

In academic writing, cohesion plays a crucial role in creating clarity and flow. However, students often struggle to use cohesive devices effectively, which can impact the coherence of their writing. This study explores the use of grammatical cohesive devices in pros and cons essays written by students in the Marine Science study program to assess their effectiveness in conveying the writer’s intention. It aims to examine how these devices; references, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction are employed to convey the writers’ intended meaning. Moreover, this study also identifies the most frequently used types of grammatical cohesive devices. Using qualitative content analysis approach, the researchers analyzed 80 essays to identify the frequency and effectiveness of each cohesive device. The findings reveal that reference (62.50%) was the most frequently used device, followed by conjunction (34.38%), while substitution and ellipsis were rarely employed (1.56% each). These results indicate that students primarily rely on pronouns, pointer words, and conjunctions to link ideas and maintain the flow of their arguments. This study highlights the need for more structured instruction and additional support to help students improve their use of cohesive devices. The results also contribute to the development of cohesion theory, particularly in the context of student writing, and suggest future research directions. Further exploration of underutilized devices like substitution and ellipsis, as well as the use of cohesive devices in other text types, could enhance understanding of student writing and inform teaching strategies to promote stronger cohesion and clarity in student essays.

Abstract

Boilers function to produce hot water or hot steam from combustion products to be converted as energy. Steam is used to drive turbines to produce electrical energy, apart from that steam is also used for heating. The boiler fuel uses biomass in the form of tree bark, namely acacia mangium. The aim of this study is to find out whether the process running in the Power boiler is good or not, it can be seen from its efficiency, so that the energy balance calculation is carried out on the Power boiler itself. Therefore, a study is needed to determine the energy balance of the unit. From the heat balance calculation, the heat data for producing steam was 1924,927,054 kcal, the latent heat of vaporization was 5732,620,038 kcal and the feed water heat was 11156296.65 kcal. So from the calculations obtained we can find out the energy balance in the boiler and the resulting Supply Steam Consumption

Abstract

Abstract: Many traditional fishermen in Indonesia still experience a decreasing income during the rainy season due to bad weather conditions. This community service activity aims to improve the safety of fishermen through the installation of lightning rods and education on bad weather conditions at sea. This activity was carried out in Segoro Tambak Village, Sedati District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The participants in this activity are local fishermen who are members of the KUB Geronggong. The methods used in this activity include 1. Initial Survey; 2. Socialization; 3. Training Session; 4. Technology Application; and 5. Mentoring and Evaluation. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed that the fishermen's level of understanding increasing by 8%. Based on the questionnaire results, the majority of fishermen gave positive feedback of this activity. In terms of program assessment, 71.4% of participants stated that the material provided was very easy to understand, and 82.1% of participants considered the speakers' delivery to be very clear. The opportunity to ask questions was also considered sufficient by 64.3% of participants, while in terms of satisfaction, 85.7% of participants stated that they were very happy to participate in this activity. All participants (100%) stated that this activity increased their knowledge, improved their preparedness for bad weather, and encouraged the application of knowledge in their daily lives. Keywords: bad weather; fishermen; lightning rods; mitigation Abstrak: Masih banyak nelayan tradisional di Indonesia yang penghasilannya turun di musim penghujan karena kendala cuaca buruk. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keselamatan nelayan melalui pemasangan alat penangkal petir dan edukasi cuaca buruk saat melaut. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Segoro Tambak, Kecataman Sedati, Kabupaten Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur. Mitra dari kegiatan ini merupakan nelayan lokal yang tergabung dalam Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Geronggong. Metode kegiatan meliputi 1.Survey Awal; 2.Sosialisasi; 3.Pelatihan; 4.Penerapan Teknologi; serta 5.Pendampingan dan Evaluasi. Dari hasil pre-test dan post-test didapati tingkat pemahaman nelayan meningkat sebesar 8%. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner, mayoritas nelayan memberikan penilaian positif terhadap kegiatan ini. Pada aspek penilaian acara, sebanyak 71,4% peserta menyatakan materi yang diberikan sangat mudah dipahami, dan 82,1% peserta menilai penyampaian narasumber sangat jelas. Kesempatan bertanya juga dinilai sangat cukup oleh 64,3% peserta, sedangkan dari sisi kepuasan, 85,7% peserta menyatakan sangat senang mengikuti kegiatan ini. Seluruh peserta (100%) menyatakan kegiatan ini menambah pengetahuan, meningkatkan kesiapan menghadapi cuaca buruk, serta mendorong penerapan ilmu dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
