Abstract

Education and character development are crucial aspects of an individual’s life, as character significantly influences one's success. Therefore, it is essential to cultivate strong and positive character traits continuously. One such important trait is humility, known in Islam as "tawadhu’". Tawadhu’ reflects a Muslim’s modesty and humility towards others. In contemporary society, particularly among students and teenagers, there is a prevalent tendency to follow the latest lifestyle trends. This trend has led to a decline in the youth's interest in positive activities and an increase in juvenile delinquency, especially within the educational sphere. Consequently, the implementation of character education, specifically the cultivation of humility, in both formal and informal educational settings, is deemed vital. It serves as a measure to counteract various social upheavals and moral decadence prevalent in society. This study aims to: (1) Understand the concept of Islamic Education; (2) Explore the development of students' humility as depicted in the Quran, Surah Al-Furqan, verses 63-64; (3) Examine the formation of humility in students in the context of Islamic Education through the analysis of Quran, Surah Al-Furqan, verses 63-64. This research employs a descriptive qualitative analytical method, utilizing a library research approach. Primary sources include the Quran (Surah Al-Furqan, verses 63-64), and secondary sources consist of tafsir (exegesis), books, and journals relevant to this study. Data collection techniques include documentation, qualitative analysis, and content analysis within the framework of Islamic Education Studies. The findings indicate that the formation of students' humility, as examined in Surah Al-Furqan, verses 63-64, involves three key aspects: First, students should consistently practice good behavior. Second, they should avoid despicable actions. Third, they must maintain a strong connection with Allah SWT by enhancing their religious devotion and obedience. Abstract

Anti-corruption education is crucial for students to instill foundational knowledge and values that guard against engaging in corrupt practices in their future lives. Textbooks play a significant role in embedding these anti-corruption values as they contain the core educational material taught to students. This study aims to describe the anti-corruption values and their scope present in the Islamic Education and Character Development textbooks of the 2013 Curriculum for 12th Grade High School. This qualitative study uses a literature review approach based on written sources. The research employs descriptive methods and content analysis techniques to critically and constructively analyze the anti-corruption values and their scope within the Islamic Education and Character Development textbooks of the 2013 Curriculum for 12th Grade High School. The results of the study reveal four core anti-corruption values in the textbook: honesty, responsibility, fairness, and hard work. These values are specifically highlighted in Chapter 1, "Enthusiasm for Worship with Belief in the Hereafter," and Chapter 11, "Maximizing Oneself to Be the Best."  Keywords : Anti-Corruption Education Values, Islamic Education and Character Development Textbook, 2013 Curriculum, 12th Grade High School

Abstract

Cognitive learning outcomes are a crucial component in education, serving to measure how well students have acquired knowledge and skills during the learning process. However, many students still exhibit low performance in cognitive learning outcomes. One primary reason for this underperformance is the misalignment between teaching styles and the students' learning styles, which adversely affects their academic results. Adopting a visual learning style is proposed as an effective solution to enhance cognitive learning outcomes. MTs Al-Rohmah implements a visual learning approach, aiming to help students absorb and process information more effectively, thereby achieving optimal learning outcomes. This study aims to describe the impact of visual learning style on cognitive learning outcomes in the subject of Aqidah Akhlak for Visual Class students at MTs Al-Rohmah Karangpawitan Garut. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach. Data collection was conducted through observation and the distribution of questionnaires to 30 respondents. The collected data were analyzed using statistical methods. The results indicate that the cognitive learning outcomes in the subject of Aqidah Akhlak at MTs Al-Rohmah are categorized as "Very Good" with an average score of 4.09. The visual learning style also falls into the "Very Good" category with an average score of 4.15. Based on hypothesis testing, it was found that the visual learning style has a positive and significant impact on the cognitive learning outcomes of students, contributing 69.55% to their academic performance. Meanwhile, other factors not included in this study account for 30.45% of the influence on cognitive learning outcomes. Abstract

The character of humility (tawadhu) is crucial, especially for students within the school environment. However, there has been an observed deficiency in humility among students, manifesting in behaviors such as disrespectful speech, disobedience to teachers and parents, lack of diligence in studying, and untidy dressing. The Self-Control Learning Strategy is proposed as an effective solution to enhance the humility character of students. The objectives of this research are to describe: the level of humility character in students, the application of the self-control learning strategy, and the implications of this strategy on the humility character of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah Garut. This study employs a field research approach with a qualitative methodology. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document studies involving the school principal, PAI teachers, guidance counselors, and students. The data analysis technique includes several stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research indicate that, at SMP Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah Garut, after implementing the self-control learning strategy, which includes initiatives led by the school principal, PAI teachers, and the promotion of positive habits such as collective Dhuha prayers, memorization of Juz 30, and advice on the importance of humility, there has been a significant improvement in the students' humility character. Abstract

Cooperative attitude is an essential trait that students should possess. However, issues such as a lack of togetherness, minimal assistance among peers, and inadequate exchange of ideas during the learning process are prevalent. If students do not develop a cooperative attitude, they may become self-centered, less responsive, and lack empathy towards their social environment. Various approaches can be adopted to enhance students' cooperative attitudes. One effective method is the Group Investigation Learning Model. This model emphasizes group-based learning processes that train students to work together to achieve common goals. The purpose of this study is to describe the impact of applying the Group Investigation Learning Model on improving students' cooperative attitudes in Islamic Religious Education. Specifically, it examines the influence of the Group Investigation Learning Model (Variable X) on the cooperative attitude of students in the context of Islamic Religious Education (Variable Y). This research adopts a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, observation, and document studies. Statistical data analysis is used to process the data. The study's results indicate that \( F_{calculated} > F_{table} \), specifically 13.664 > 4.10, leading to the rejection of \( H_0 \) and acceptance of \( H_1 \). This means the independent variable (X), which is the Group Investigation Learning Model, significantly influences the dependent variable (Y), the students' cooperative attitude in Islamic Religious Education. The calculation of the coefficient of determination shows that the application of the Group Investigation Learning Model influences the improvement of students' cooperative attitudes by 26.4%, with the remaining 73.6% influenced by other factors not included in this study. Abstract

The self-directed learning of students in the Akidah Akhlak subject at MTs Muhammadiyah Tarogong Garut remains a challenge in the educational process. Some students exhibit low self-confidence, lack responsibility, and are overly dependent on others during learning activities. The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is an instructional approach that engages students in solving problems through scientific method stages.   The objectives of this research are to describe: (1) the level of self-directed learning in students concerning the Akidah Akhlak subject; (2) the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model in the Akidah Akhlak subject for Grade VIII students at MTs Muhammadiyah Tarogong Garut; and (3) the influence of the Problem-Based Learning model on students' self-directed learning in the Akidah Akhlak subject for Grade VIII students at MTs Muhammadiyah Tarogong Garut.   The research employed an experimental method. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and document analysis. The data were processed using statistical analysis. The study's findings revealed that the average pre-test scores were 52.70 for the experimental group and 52.35 for the control group. After the treatment with the Problem-Based Learning model, the post-test average for the experimental group increased to 62.00, while the control group, which did not use the PBL model, had an average post-test score of 54.87. The T-test results indicated \( T_{calculated} \) > \( T_{table} \), specifically \( -6.59 \) or \( 6.59 > 2.00 \).   Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model significantly influences the self-directed learning of students in the Akidah Akhlak subject for Grade VIII students at MTs Muhammadiyah Tarogong Garut. Abstract

Critical thinking is a vital skill that needs to be nurtured and developed from a young age. However, many students still struggle to engage critically during the learning process, often refraining from expressing their opinions or asking questions about subjects they do not fully understand. This issue is primarily due to teacher-centered learning approaches, which limit opportunities for students to voice their thoughts and develop critical thinking skills. Therefore, the inductive teaching model is proposed as an effective solution to enhance students' critical thinking abilities. The aim of this study is to describe the impact of the inductive teaching model on critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education. This research investigates the correlation between the inductive teaching model and the development of critical thinking abilities among students. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, involving data collection through observations and questionnaires distributed to 36 respondents. The data were analyzed using statistical methods. The results indicate that the implementation of the inductive teaching model in Islamic religious education achieved an average score of 4.41, which falls under the "very good" category. Similarly, students' critical thinking skills averaged 4.13, also categorized as "very good." These findings suggest that the inductive teaching model is an effective alternative to enhance students' critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education. Based on hypothesis testing, it was found that the inductive teaching model positively influences students' critical thinking abilities by 43.90%. The remaining 56.10% of the influence on critical thinking skills is attributed to other variables not included in this study.  Keywords: Inductive Teaching Model, Critical Thinking, Islamic Religious Education

Abstract

Student engagement during the teaching and learning process is a crucial indicator of their desire or motivation to learn. Students are considered active if they exhibit behaviors such as frequently asking questions to the teacher or peers, willingly completing assignments given by the teacher, being able to answer questions, and often being assigned learning tasks. Active participation in the learning process fosters high interaction between teachers and students, as well as among the students themselves. However, in practice, student engagement has not been fully optimized. Therefore, the non-directive teaching model is one of the options to create a refreshing and conducive learning environment.   This study aims to describe the effect of implementing the non-directive teaching model on student engagement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for Grade IX students at SMP Persada Cilawu. The research employed a descriptive associative method, involving direct fieldwork to observe and record the ongoing phenomena. The results from this study indicate that both student engagement and the non-directive teaching model received favorable evaluations. The findings show that the implementation of the non-directive teaching model accounts for 7.2% of the variance in student engagement, as reflected in the model summary table with a value range between 0.00 and 0.1999, indicating a very low effect. Despite this categorization as "very low," the impact of the non-directive model cannot be dismissed, as it remains an external factor that can influence student engagement in learning. The remaining 92.8% of the influence is attributed to other factors not examined in this study.  Keywords: Teaching Model, Non-Directive, Student Engagement, Islamic Religious Education

Abstract

This research stems from societal and cultural phenomena, namely youth violence, trends towards casual sex, and the abuse of narcotics and other addictive substances. Addressing these moral issues among adolescents, the government has introduced the "merdeka belajar" curriculum, allowing for customized learning to meet students' desires and needs. The objective of this qualitative descriptive study is to examine the implementation of the "merdeka belajar" curriculum in Islamic Education to enhance students' religious attitudes at SMPIT Al-Masduki Tarogong Kidul. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that: 1) SMP IT Al-Masduki offers various programs to enhance students' religious intelligence, including tahfidz al-Qur'an specialization, leadership skills training, international communication skills training, and character formation and values education programs. 2) The "merdeka belajar" curriculum at SMP IT Al-Masduki supports a talent and interest-based approach in learning, fostering flexibility and focusing on essential content and character development. 3) The use of the "merdeka belajar" curriculum in enhancing students' religious attitudes in Islamic Education at SMP IT Al-Masduki integrates national and international curricula. The implemented aspects of students' religious attitudes at SMP IT Al-Masduki encompass beliefs, worship practices, spiritual understanding, knowledge acquisition, and practical application.  Keywords: Implementation of Merdeka Belajar, Religious Attitudes

Abstract

This research examines the values of religious moderation in PAI material and character in phase E of the independent curriculum which emphasizes increasing projects to strengthen students' profiles of Pancasila and religious moderation as well as instilling the values of religious moderation which can be done in various ways, one of which is through teaching materials. This research aims to describe the scope of PAI material and morals in phase E of the independent curriculum, the values of religious moderation in PAI material and morals in phase E of the independent curriculum, and the relevance of religious moderation values to the independent curriculum. This research uses library research methods, namely by reading and analyzing library sources. The research results are presented in the form of a qualitative description, namely by describing the data obtained in depth and comprehensively from data sources and references. Content analysis technique is used to analyze data obtained from data sources. This research concludes. First, the scope of the Islamic Education and Character Education textbook in phase E of the independent curriculum contains ten chapters. Each chapter in this textbook contains 11 rubrics (sub-material or parts of the text that are printed to make them stand out). Second, this textbook contains the values of religious moderation. The values of religious moderation in question are, At-Tawassuth (middle), I`tidal (perpendicular), Tasamuh (tolerance), Ash-Shura (deliberation), Al-Ishlah (repair), Al-Qudwah (Exemplary ), Al-Muwathanah (love of the homeland), Al-La`unf (non-violence), and I`tiraf Al-`Urf (culturally friendly). The presentation of moderation values in the textbook is through material, explicit or implied messages through material and illustrative images. Third, the values of religious moderation are important values to instill in students. These values can help students to understand, appreciate and practice their religious teachings correctly in accordance with the concept of religious moderation. The independent curriculum is a curriculum that is relevant to the values of religious moderation, which focuses on the project of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students, one of whose dimensions is faith, devotion to God Almighty and having noble morals. The values of religious moderation can be taught to students through differentiated learning that is adapted with the needs and abilities of each student.  Keywords: Religious Moderation Values, Islamic Education and Ethics Materials, Independent Curriculum.
