Abstract

This study explores how reading corners can increase students’ interest in reading and improve literacy skills at SD Negeri Cilondong, located in Cihanyawar Village, Sukabumi Regency. The reading corners were created as a solution to the lack of reading materials and poor reading environments often found in rural schools. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the study involved 80 students from grades 1 to 6, along with teachers and school staff, in a process of planning, implementing, and evaluating the reading corner activities. Data were collected through questionnaires, reading logs, and group discussions. The reading corners were filled with storybooks, comics, science books, picture books, and folk tales. After several months, the results showed clear improvements: 68.8% of students enjoyed reading more, 75.1% actively used the reading corners, and over 70% showed better reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. Most students visited the corners regularly and many borrowed books to read at home. This study shows that a simple, low-cost reading corner, developed with community involvement, can significantly help improve reading habits and literacy in rural elementary schools.

Abstract

This community-based development initiative focused on empowering local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Cihanyawar Village through collaborative strategies targeting three key areas namely packaging improvement, marketing enhancement, and halal certification facilitation. Employing a community-based research (CBR) framework, the program engaged 25 UMKM units spanning food processing, handicrafts, and agricultural products over a six-month intervention period. The initiative involved participatory training sessions, hands-on technical assistance, and sustained mentoring designed and implemented in collaboration with local stakeholders. Mixed-methods evaluation, including structured surveys, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations, was conducted to assess outcomes before and after the intervention. Findings indicate substantial progress across all focus areas. Average packaging quality scores improved from 1.8 to 4.1 (127.8% increase), social media adoption reached 84%, and marketing channel diversity expanded by 240%. Halal certification efforts led to a 52% success rate among participating businesses. These outcomes translated into meaningful economic impact, with average monthly revenue rising by 56.6% and customer reach growing by 111.9%. Statistical analysis confirmed the program’s effectiveness (p < 0.001) across key performance indicators. The collaborative and integrated nature of the intervention generated synergistic effects, demonstrating the value of localized, community-based empowerment approaches in strengthening rural UMKM resilience and competitiveness.

Abstract

One of the lifestyles of the younger generation, better known as the Millennial Generation, in using smartphones, is searching for information and buying and selling on the Internet. This of course includes accessing social media and using it as a source of learning material, which currently supports a lot of educational content. Social media can be integrated into Millennial Generation learning where the use of social media and learning must be planned as one. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach, using indirect data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires that describe the variables studied and examine the relationships between variables. Based on the results of this research, at the effectiveness stage, social media is used by students more to dig up information on social media accounts such as YouTube and Tiktok . YouTube can be used as a learning tool to have a positive impact on students by increasing learning motivation, creativity and friendship between friends, so that social media can be used effectively as a learning tool. These two accounts are the accounts most followed by students. Based on the explanation of the findings above, it can be concluded that the first and second hypotheses are accepted, namely that there is a positive relationship between the Role of Social Media (X) and Effective Learning Resources (Y) in the millennial generation, namely students and high school students in Sukabumi.

Abstract

This community service initiative responds to the pressing issues faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nagrak Sub-district, Sukabumi Regency, particularly in strengthening business formalization, halal assurance, and global market preparedness through the UMKM Juara (Champion MSMEs) program. Using a participatory action research framework, the program engaged 45 MSME actors representing five key sectors namely food processing, beverages, traditional snacks, handicrafts, and cosmetics. The activities unfolded through four interconnected phases needs assessment, training and public outreach, individualized mentoring, and continuous monitoring and evaluation carried out over a six-month period from May to October 2024. The program recorded substantial, quantifiable progress. A total of 38 MSMEs (84.4%) successfully secured their Business Identification Numbers (NIB) via the Online Single Submission system, marking a decisive transition from informal to formal business practice. In parallel, 32 participants (71.1%) submitted complete halal certification dossiers, and 18 of them had already obtained provisional certificates by the end of the program. Knowledge assessments further showed a significant leap in understanding, with average scores rising from 48.3% to 82.7%, reflecting a 71.2% improvement across all training modules. The food processing sector achieved the highest rate of halal certification submissions at 94.4%, while handicrafts and cosmetics encountered greater obstacles due to more intricate material-tracing processes. The integrated strategy combining regulatory compliance assistance, certification facilitation, and holistic capacity building proved effective in dismantling multiple developmental constraints simultaneously. Nevertheless, sustained advancement toward genuine global competitiveness will require long-term reinforcement, particularly in post-certification market access, international buyer networking, and ongoing product innovation support.

Abstract

This study examines the promotional management strategies employed by educational radio stations and their impact on market penetration of information literacy programs among middle school students. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 384 students aged 12-15 years through structured questionnaires measured on a five-point Likert scale. The research operationalized promotional management strategies through four dimensions—advertising, public relations, sales promotion, and direct marketing—while market penetration was assessed through awareness, adoption, and engagement levels. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that promotional strategies collectively explain 61.2% of variance in market penetration (R² = 0.612, F = 149.346, p < 0.001), indicating substantial predictive power. Public relations emerged as the most influential dimension (β = 0.357, p < 0.001), followed by direct marketing (β = 0.246, p < 0.001), advertising (β = 0.214, p < 0.001), and sales promotion (β = 0.198, p < 0.001). All promotional dimensions demonstrated statistically significant positive effects on market penetration. However, descriptive analysis revealed a critical awareness-to-engagement gap, with awareness scoring significantly higher (M = 3.82) than adoption (M = 3.21) and engagement (M = 3.11), indicating challenges in converting program knowledge into sustained listening behavior. The findings underscore the importance of relationship-building strategies and school partnerships over traditional advertising approaches in educational broadcasting contexts. Practical implications suggest that educational radio stations should prioritize public relations initiatives, foster institutional collaborations, and develop hybrid digital-radio formats to enhance market penetration and bridge the awareness-adoption gap. This research contributes to integrated marketing communication theory in educational media contexts and provides evidence-based recommendations for stakeholders committed to advancing information literacy among youth populations.
