Abstract

The development of complex compounds as antibacterial continues to be carried out to overcome cases of microbial resistance. One of them is the development of complex compounds with thiocyanate and aminopyridine ligands which show good potential as antibacterial. Complex compound of zinc(II) chloride with thiocyanate and 2-aminopyridine ligands was successfully synthesized. The synthesis was carried out by mixing the reactants with ratio of Zn2+: 2-aminopyridine: SCN 1:2:2 under heating and stirring continuously for 6 hours. The Obtained beam-shaped colorless crystals were characterized using melting point, electrical conductivity, thiocyanate ion qualitative, FTIR, SEM-EDX, XRD powder and antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus test. The crystals melt at 160-165 0C. The results of the electrical conductivity test, qualitative test of thiocyanate ion, FTIR and SEM-EDX analysis indicate the presence of Zn2+, thiocyanate and 2-aminopyridine with ratio 1: 2: 2. Based on XRD powder spectral data and theoritical analysis, the complex synthesized compounds had high crystallinity and predicted has tetrahedral structure. Antibacterial test showed that against S.aureus, the compound had higher antibacterial activity than free ligands, but lower than chloramphenicol. Therefore, the antibacterial activity of the complex compound was classified as moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize complex compounds from the Co(II) ion with mixed ligands of 2-aminopyridine and thiocyanate ions. The complexes obtained have Co(II) : 2-aminopyridine: thiocyanate ratio of 1:2:2 based on preliminary analysis by SEM-EDX, DHL, and FTIR. The complex in the form of a blue needle crystal is stable at room temperature and melts at 169 °C. Characterization shows that the complex formed is neutral. The antibacterial activity test was carried out using the diffusion method and show that the resulting complex compounds could inhibit the growth of S. typhi and S. aureus bacteria better than 2-aminopyridine.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk memanfaatkan keberadaan sampah organik, yaitu kulit buah kapas sebagai pengenyal makanan. Pengenyal makanan yang ada saat ini, umumnya adalah buatan (kimiawi), sedangkan pengenyal alami lainnya relatif mahal. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini berupa kegiatan pelatihan kepada peserta. Melalui peluang yang terlihat ada di sekitar lingkungan, diharapkan peserta dapat meneliti dan memanfaatkan sampah organik untuk dibuat usaha khususnya produk makanan bakso dengan pengenyal makanan alami. Berdasarkan hasil uji kualitatif meliputi bentuk bakso, warna dan rasa, tidak tampak perbedaan dengan bakso yang menggunakan pengenyal makanan buatan. Respon partisipan terhadap kegiatan ini positif karena terlibat langsung dalam pembuatan bakso dan merasakan sendiri hasil dan kualitasnya. Hasil dari kegiatan ini pertisipan memperoleh manfaat dan keterampilan melihat peluang usaha dengan memanfaatkan bahan di sekitar, pengetahuan tentang kewirausahaan dan pengetahuan dasar tentang hitungan bisnis (keuangan) ketika memulai usaha awal, dan pengalaman dalam pembuatan bakso dengan pengenyal alami kulit buah kapas. Kata kunci— kulit buah kapas, pengenyal makanan, pelatihan, sampah organik Abstract The purpose of this activity is to take advantage of the presence of organic waste, namely cotton rind as a food thickener. Most of the existing food stretchers are artificial (chemical), while other natural stretchers are relatively expensive. This community service activity is in the form of training activities for participants. Through the opportunities that are seen around the environment, it is hoped that the participants will be able to research and use organic waste to create businesses, especially meatball food products with natural food as thickener. Based on the qualitative test results including the shape of the meatballs, color and taste, there was no difference with the meatball using artificial food thickener. The response of the participants to this activity was positive because they were directly involved in making meatballs and experienced the results and quality for themselves. As a result of this activity, participants gained benefits and skills in seeing business opportunities by utilizing local materials, knowledge of entrepreneurship and basic knowledge of business (finance) when starting an initial business, and experience in making meatballs with natural cotton rind as thickener. Keywords— boo, food plumpers, organic waste, training

Abstract

The synthesis of ionic complexes of cadmium(II) chloride and cobalt(II) chloride with N,N'-diethylthiourea (detu) ligands has not been previously reported. Therefore, in this research, the synthesis was carried out to study the structure and characterization of the two ionic complex compounds. The cadmium(II)-detu ionic complex was synthesized using the direct reaction method with a ratio between Cd(II) salt and detu ligand of 1:2. Meanwhile, the cobalt(II)-detu ionic complex was synthesized with a ratio between Co(II) salt and detu ligand of 2:4. The cadmium(II)-detu and cobalt(II)-detu ionic complexes have melting points of 105-108 ˚C and 122-125 ˚C, respectively. The electrical conductivity of the cadmium(II)-detu and cobalt(II)-detu complexes showed that the complexes were ionic. The FTIR analysis showed the shifting of the C=S functional group’s band to the smaller wavenumber, which indicates the coordinating detu ligand to the cadmium(II) and cobalt(II) through the S atom. The indirect evidence from 1H-NMR showed that CH3 and CH2 only slightly shifted between the free detu ligand and the Cd-detu and Co-detu complexes.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sudah diselesaikan kegiatan workshop tentang penguatan materi ikatan kimia, penguatan materi kimia koordinasi dan penulisan karya ilmiah pada diskusi bersama musyawarah guru matapelajaran (MGMP) Kimia SMA Kabupaten Malang. Tujuan penataran adalah memahami pandangan guru-guru kimia terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan tentang penguatan materi ikatan kimia, penguatan materi kimia koordinasi dan penulisan karya ilmiah. Penelitian dilakukan dengan memberikan angket. Instrumen Asesmen tentang ikatan kimia, kimia koordinasi dan penulisan karya ilmiah. Angket dan instrumen diberikan kepada 37 guru kimia. Elaborasi data memakai deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan persentase. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dapat diperoleh pemecahan atas persoalan yang dihadapi guru kimia di Kabupaten Malang, diperlihatkan oleh eskalasi capaian pemahaman sebesar 10,88% (berdasarkan dari pre-test dan post-test), dan pemahaman guru terhadap tentang ikatan kimia dan senyawa koordinasi sebesar 83,69%. Kata Kunci: Ikatan Kimia, Senyawa Koordinasi, Karya Ilmiah  ABSTRACT Workshop activities have been carried out related to strengthening chemical bonding material, strengthening coordination chemical material, and writing scientific papers at the Chemistry Subject Teacher Consultation Forum (MGMP) of Malang High School Chemistry. The attempt of the study was to wrap up the perception of chemistry teachers on the implementation of workshops related to strengthening chemical bonding material, strengthening coordination chemistry, and writing scientific papers. The research was conducted by giving a questionnaire. Assessment instruments on chemical bonds, chemical coordination, and writing scientific papers. Questionnaires and instruments were given to 37 chemistry teachers. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative and quantitative using percentages. The outcomes of this social welfare activity were able to find solutions to the problems faced by chemistry teachers in Malang Regency, denoted by an enhance in understanding achievement through education and training by 10.88% (based on initial and final tests), and teachers' knowledge of chemical bonds and compounds coordination of 83.69%. Keywords: Chemical Bond, Compounds Coordination, Scientific Work

Abstract

Although thousands of tribes, with their unique characters, are scattered throughout the earth of Indonesia, the country remains intact into a single unitary state. This country's wealth is important to be introduced not only to Indonesian people, but also to international citizens. In this community service, we had the opportunity to bring University of Malaya international students to learn about one of the cultures and lives of the people of Gubugklakah and Tengger villages. This activity was done for two days and before the Covid-19 pandemic. They were even invited to live with residents to truly feel how to live in a traditional environment. The international students learned about language, ethnic, religion, way of life and the natural conservation in Indonesia. This is an important and unforgettable experience for anyone who has never touched the beauty of life in a village where the houses are not restricted by locked fences.

Abstract

Senyawa kompleks dari garam nikel dengan ligan N,N’-dietiltiourea (detu) perbandingan mol 1:4 berhasil disintesis dan dikarakterisasi dengan metode reaksi langsung dan refluks. Kompleks Ni-detu(DR) dan Kompleks Ni-detu(R) yang secara berurutan disintesis dengan metode langsung dan refluks mempunyai  titik lebur  159-161°C dan 114-116°C. Analisis data FT-IR kedua sampel menunjukkan ikatan υ(N-H) Ni-detu berada pada rentang 3233-3235 cm-1, υ(C-H) 2964-2974 cm-1, υ(C-N) 1562-1579 cm-1, dan υ(C=S) 646-653 cm-1. Analisis refinement data XRD diperoleh Rwp sebesar 11,63% menunjukkan senyawa yang terbentuk mempunyai kemiripan struktur dengan senyawa kompleks [Ni(detu)4]Cl2. Hasil pengukuran VSM pada kompleks hasil sintesis Ni-detu(DR) dan Ni-detu(R) menujukkan keduanya bersifat diamagnetik.

Abstract

The complex compound tetrakis(N,N’-diethylthiourea)bis(isothiocyanato)nickel or [Ni(detu)4(NCS)2] (denoted as UMCC-1) has been synthesized by reflux method in two different solvents namely acetone and methanol. This study aims to synthesize, characterize, and analyze the Hirshfeld Surface complex UMCC-1, which was obtained using the reflux method with the mole ratio of NiCl2: detu: KSCN is 1:2:4. Single crystals UMCC-1 in acetone and methanol are dark green in color with melting points of 135-137°C and conductivity of 66.4-84.4 µS. The FTIR absorption band analysis of the two crystals is very similar, ν(C S) detu 590 cm−1 and ν(C≡N) isothiocyanate 2119 cm−1. The refinement of the crystal structure from the single crystal XRD data shows that the two dark green crystals are a molecular type that has a distorted octahedral geometry with the same crystal lattice, monoclinic crystal lattice, P21/c1 space group (no.14), crystal lattice parameter a= 11.112(3) Å, b= 17.249(5) Å, c= 9.647(3) Å, and β= 100.785(10). However, the complex produced in acetone solvent has better refinement quality than methanol concerning %R= 3.27 and %R = 4.55, respectively. The UMCC-1 crystal shows intermolecular hydrogen bonds N-H---S(isothiocyanato) and intramolecular hydrogen bonds N-H---S(detu) with Hirshfeld Surface analysis showing a significant contribution of H---H (69.5%) on crystal packing.

Abstract

Three zinc(II) complexes containing 4-aminopyridine (4-NH2py) [Zn(4-NH2py)2(NCS)2] (1), [Zn(4-NH2py)2Cl2] (2), and [Zn(4-NH2py)2(NCS)Cl] (3) were synthesized and characterized by FTIR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. All complexes adopt a slightly distorted tetrahedral geometry with different crystal packing. Complex 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pmmn space group, complex 2 in the monoclinic C2/c space group, and complex 3 in the orthorhombic Pbca space group. Non-covalent interactions such as NC-S···H, -Cl···H, and µ-µ stacking interaction between 4-NH2py and other ligands (NCS− and Cl−) are observed in the crystals packing. In vitro, antibacterial screening of all complexes was evaluated against two bacteria (Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus). The results show that 1 has the highest antibacterial activity than 2 and 3. This difference is due to differences in the interactions elicited by the anion ligands.
