Abstract

The development of complex compounds as antibacterial continues to be carried out to overcome cases of microbial resistance. One of them is the development of complex compounds with thiocyanate and aminopyridine ligands which show good potential as antibacterial. Complex compound of zinc(II) chloride with thiocyanate and 2-aminopyridine ligands was successfully synthesized. The synthesis was carried out by mixing the reactants with ratio of Zn2+: 2-aminopyridine: SCN 1:2:2 under heating and stirring continuously for 6 hours. The Obtained beam-shaped colorless crystals were characterized using melting point, electrical conductivity, thiocyanate ion qualitative, FTIR, SEM-EDX, XRD powder and antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi and Staphylococcus aureus test. The crystals melt at 160-165 0C. The results of the electrical conductivity test, qualitative test of thiocyanate ion, FTIR and SEM-EDX analysis indicate the presence of Zn2+, thiocyanate and 2-aminopyridine with ratio 1: 2: 2. Based on XRD powder spectral data and theoritical analysis, the complex synthesized compounds had high crystallinity and predicted has tetrahedral structure. Antibacterial test showed that against S.aureus, the compound had higher antibacterial activity than free ligands, but lower than chloramphenicol. Therefore, the antibacterial activity of the complex compound was classified as moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize complex compounds from the Co(II) ion with mixed ligands of 2-aminopyridine and thiocyanate ions. The complexes obtained have Co(II) : 2-aminopyridine: thiocyanate ratio of 1:2:2 based on preliminary analysis by SEM-EDX, DHL, and FTIR. The complex in the form of a blue needle crystal is stable at room temperature and melts at 169 °C. Characterization shows that the complex formed is neutral. The antibacterial activity test was carried out using the diffusion method and show that the resulting complex compounds could inhibit the growth of S. typhi and S. aureus bacteria better than 2-aminopyridine.

Abstract

The synthesis of ionic complexes of cadmium(II) chloride and cobalt(II) chloride with N,N'-diethylthiourea (detu) ligands has not been previously reported. Therefore, in this research, the synthesis was carried out to study the structure and characterization of the two ionic complex compounds. The cadmium(II)-detu ionic complex was synthesized using the direct reaction method with a ratio between Cd(II) salt and detu ligand of 1:2. Meanwhile, the cobalt(II)-detu ionic complex was synthesized with a ratio between Co(II) salt and detu ligand of 2:4. The cadmium(II)-detu and cobalt(II)-detu ionic complexes have melting points of 105-108 ˚C and 122-125 ˚C, respectively. The electrical conductivity of the cadmium(II)-detu and cobalt(II)-detu complexes showed that the complexes were ionic. The FTIR analysis showed the shifting of the C=S functional group’s band to the smaller wavenumber, which indicates the coordinating detu ligand to the cadmium(II) and cobalt(II) through the S atom. The indirect evidence from 1H-NMR showed that CH3 and CH2 only slightly shifted between the free detu ligand and the Cd-detu and Co-detu complexes.

Abstract

Culture, being a very important thing to instill in early childhood, local culture, especially where children live, plays an important role in shaping children's character in receiving learning about themselves and their world, introducing local culture to children from an early age serves to instill attitudes, behaviors, personalities and manners, love the country and foster a spirit of nationalism in children. The purpose of this research on learning activities based on local cultural wisdom in Jepara is to introduce the values of local cultural wisdom in Jepara to early childhood and to examine more deeply about local culture-based learning models. The approach method used is a case study qualitative research method with data collection methods carried out through observation and through several activities, namely planning, model design, material procurement and curriculum and media trials based on local cultural wisdom. APE SINDU stands for Sinau Budoyo. The subjects of this study were children aged 5-6 years. The results of this activity research indicate that learning activities based on the wisdom of local culture in Jepara using the SINDU educational game tool can make it easier for children to get to know and know the local culture in Jepara, learning is also more interesting and interactive.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sudah diselesaikan kegiatan workshop tentang penguatan materi ikatan kimia, penguatan materi kimia koordinasi dan penulisan karya ilmiah pada diskusi bersama musyawarah guru matapelajaran (MGMP) Kimia SMA Kabupaten Malang. Tujuan penataran adalah memahami pandangan guru-guru kimia terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan tentang penguatan materi ikatan kimia, penguatan materi kimia koordinasi dan penulisan karya ilmiah. Penelitian dilakukan dengan memberikan angket. Instrumen Asesmen tentang ikatan kimia, kimia koordinasi dan penulisan karya ilmiah. Angket dan instrumen diberikan kepada 37 guru kimia. Elaborasi data memakai deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan persentase. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dapat diperoleh pemecahan atas persoalan yang dihadapi guru kimia di Kabupaten Malang, diperlihatkan oleh eskalasi capaian pemahaman sebesar 10,88% (berdasarkan dari pre-test dan post-test), dan pemahaman guru terhadap tentang ikatan kimia dan senyawa koordinasi sebesar 83,69%. Kata Kunci: Ikatan Kimia, Senyawa Koordinasi, Karya Ilmiah  ABSTRACT Workshop activities have been carried out related to strengthening chemical bonding material, strengthening coordination chemical material, and writing scientific papers at the Chemistry Subject Teacher Consultation Forum (MGMP) of Malang High School Chemistry. The attempt of the study was to wrap up the perception of chemistry teachers on the implementation of workshops related to strengthening chemical bonding material, strengthening coordination chemistry, and writing scientific papers. The research was conducted by giving a questionnaire. Assessment instruments on chemical bonds, chemical coordination, and writing scientific papers. Questionnaires and instruments were given to 37 chemistry teachers. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative and quantitative using percentages. The outcomes of this social welfare activity were able to find solutions to the problems faced by chemistry teachers in Malang Regency, denoted by an enhance in understanding achievement through education and training by 10.88% (based on initial and final tests), and teachers' knowledge of chemical bonds and compounds coordination of 83.69%. Keywords: Chemical Bond, Compounds Coordination, Scientific Work

Abstract

Zinco-phosphate having CZP structure (CoZnPO-HEX) has a potential as a catalyst in Knoevenagel condensation of benzaldehyde with activated methylenic compounds or the Michael addition of nitroethane to olefin. The potency is led by the physicochemical properties of the material, which depend on its crystal habits. Understanding the crystal growth of materials is important to be able to design and control their crystal habits.  Therefore, the crystal growth study of CoZnPO-HEX is crucial for its crystal habit modification as well as for optimization and expansion of the material’s functions. Several parameters of crystal growth, such as nucleation time, gel supersaturation, and crystal size changes during the synthesis process can be analysed by observing the material’s crystallisation profile. In this study, crystallisation analysis was performed on CoZnPO-HEX, synthesised using solvent-free method, from its crystallinity curve based on Powder-XRD data supported by SEM data. As a comparison, crystal growth simulation was performed using CrystalGrower program to determine the morphology, surface topography, and theoretical crystal growth mechanisms. From this study, we found that the nucleation time of the CoZnPO-HEX crystals prepared using a solvent-free method took place during the precursor grinding process at room temperature. The crystal morphology of the as-prepared materials agrees well with the simulation’s one. Moreover, the CrystalGrower simulation proved that the smallest t-czp-1 tile started the nucleation on the crystal surface because of its low free energy.

Abstract

Menurunnya minat siswa SMA terhadap sains menjadi tantangan tersendiri dalam mempersiapkan generasi muda yang memiliki pemahaman mendalam dan kemampuan aplikatif di bidang sains. Fenomena ini ada karena persepsi siswa tentang sains merupakan ilmu yang sulit dan kurang menarik. Oleh karena itu pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan ketertarikan siswa SMA terhadap sains terkhusus pada materi mikrobiologi serta mengembangkan keterampilan praktis melalui kitchen microbiology. Kegiatan pengabdian ini memiliki tiga tahapan utama yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa dalam kategori baik sebesar 79%. Serta ketertarikan siswa terhadap sains meningkat dengan rincian 81,8% tertarik dan 9,1% sangat tertarik. Hal ini menyimpulkan jika implementasi mikrobiologi sederhana melalui kitchen microbiology dapat meningkatkan ketertarikan siswa SMA terhadap sains pada umumnya dan mikrobiologi secara khusus.

Abstract

Complex [Ni(3-NH2py)4Cl2] was successfully synthesized through the reaction between NiCl2·6H2O with 3-NH2py ligand with a mole ratio of 1:4 using the hydrothermal method at 120°C for 4 hours. The complex was characterized using the melting point test, electrical conductivity, FT-IR, and SC-XRD. The complex compound decomposed at 215°C. Typical absorption bands of 3-NH2py ligand appeared in the FT-IR spectrum of the complex at wave numbers 3375, 3323, 1585, and 1303 cm-1, indicating the presence of -NHas, -NHs, C=N, and -C-NH2 functional groups. The complex compound is an ionic compound that crystallizes in a distorted octahedral structure with a triclinic crystal system and space group Pī (a = 7.6428(8) Å, b = 8.5384(8) Å, c = 9.8610(13) Å and a = 73.920(4)°, b = 70.149(3)°, g = 71.036(2)°). The R-factor value is 4.48%, which shows the refinements are very close to the original structure. Based on the Hirshfeld surface analysis, the intermolecular interaction of N-H···Cl occurs between the H atom of the amine group and the ligand Cl in another molecule. Antibacterial activity tests against S. aureus and E. coli using chloramphenicol as a positive control. The results showed the inhibition zone diameters for both bacteria were 6.90 mm, higher than that of their free ligand.

Abstract

Scientific publications are one of the requirements for student graduation. The importance of scientific publications for students is that they can be used as a portfolio to apply for a job or get a scholarship. However, in publishing an article that is "good science", students still have difficulty analyzing data using several data processing software programs. The purpose of this community service is to provide data processing application training to students to accelerate Scopus and Web of Science (WoS)-indexed publications. The method used was in the form of tiered training attended by 46 students. Data analysis was carried out with a qualitative and quantitative approach using Kirkpatrick's Level 1 and Level 2 evaluation models. The results of this training, in addition to getting a positive satisfaction response from the participants on the training material provided, also gained a fairly good understanding of the training material provided, with a high average task value for each training above 75.
