Abstract

Mastery Learning is a teaching system approach that requires students to thoroughly master each unit of material before moving on to the next unit of material. It suggests that the focus of instruction should be the time required for different students to learn the same material and achieve the same level of mastery. This is very much in contrast with classic models of teaching, which focus more on differences in students' ability and where all students are given approximately the same amount of time to learn and the same set of instructions. Mastery learning was developed by John B. Caroll (1963) and Benjamin Bloom (1971). Both develop a learning system that allows all students to achieve a number of educational goals. This model outlines the main factors that influence student learning success, such as talent and the time needed to reach a level of achievement. In mastery learning, there is a shift in responsibilities, so that student's failure is more due to the instruction and not necessarily lack of ability on his or her part. Therefore, in a mastery learning environment, the challenge becomes providing enough time and employing instructional strategies so that all students can achieve the same level of learning. Keywords: Mastery Learing and Peer Tutor Abstrak Penguasaan Pembelajaran adalah pendekatan sistem pengajaran yang mengharuskan siswa untuk menguasai setiap unit materi secara menyeluruh sebelum melanjutkan ke unit materi berikutnya. Ini menyarankan bahwa fokus pengajaran haruslah waktu yang dibutuhkan bagi siswa yang berbeda untuk mempelajari materi yang sama dan mencapai tingkat penguasaan yang sama. Ini sangat kontras dengan model pengajaran klasik, yang lebih berfokus pada perbedaan dalam kemampuan siswa dan di mana semua siswa diberikan waktu belajar yang kira-kira sama dan serangkaian instruksi yang sama. Pembelajaran penguasaan dikembangkan oleh John B. Caroll (1963) dan Benjamin Bloom (1971). Keduanya mengembangkan sistem pembelajaran yang memungkinkan semua siswa mencapai sejumlah tujuan pendidikan. Model ini menguraikan faktor-faktor utama yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan belajar siswa, seperti bakat dan waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk mencapai suatu tingkat prestasi. Dalam penguasaan pembelajaran terjadi pergeseran tanggung jawab, sehingga kegagalan siswa lebih disebabkan oleh pengajaran dan bukan karena kurangnya kemampuan di pihaknya. Oleh karena itu, dalam penguasaan lingkungan belajar, tantangan menjadi menyediakan waktu yang cukup dan menerapkan strategi pembelajaran sehingga semua siswa dapat mencapai tingkat pembelajaran yang sama. Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology (ICT) has big effects on human life in many facets, one of them is in education. However, the use of this technology left some problems faced by its users. Therefore, this study aims to explore in-depth the kindergarten student parents’ perception of the use of WhatsApp in the teaching and learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The study employed the exploratory study which engaged twenty-nine students’ parents in Lebak - Indonesia where online learning using WhatsApp was implemented. Then, six participants were voluntarily involved in the interview. The questionnaire and semi-structured interview were administered in collecting the data. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed in percentage while the content analysis technique was used in analyzing the data from the semi-structured interview. From the data analysis, this study reveals two major research findings. Firstly, the use of WhatsApp helped students in learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and physical distancing, establishes student and teacher communication, Secondly, technical problems were found such as unstable internet connection, student-teacher communication and interaction are not maximized, and lastly, after a long period, the students got bored. In brief, the use of WhatsApp can be used as an alternative teaching platform in the COVID-19 age on the one hand, on the other hand, its’ usage faced barriers such as unstable internet connection.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out whether there is an impact of topic interest on EFL incidental vocabulary acquisition or not. The sample of this research consist of 39 students, 19 students in experimental class and 20 students in control class. The method used in this research was quantitative with Quasi- Experimental design. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 26.0. The result showed that there was an impact of topic interest on EFL incidental vocabulary acquisition. It was proved by the t count value higher than t-table value (-13.419 < -1.734). Thus, Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. The result of the pre-test mean value for the experimental class is 78.94, while the mean of post-test is 91.84. Therefore, the mean value of students increased 12.9.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the differentiated learning in developing English reading skills among high school students. Differentiated learning provides the diverse learning needs of students by providing adjusted learning experiences. This qualitative research was conducted in a high school in Lebak Regency, involving in-depth interviews. Participants included 10 English teachers who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews to explore perceptions and experiences. The results revealed that differentiated learning positively provided by teachers on 5 aspects, they are teaching materials, various teaching method, flexibility assignment, students grouping, and different assessment. Ten Teachers really understand how to treat various students in the classroom using varied learning strategies, such as tiered assignments and flexible grouping, helped meet individual student needs and improved engagement. The discussion highlights the effectiveness of differentiated learning in creating a supportive learning environment that addresses diverse learning styles and needs. It emphasizes the importance of teacher training and resource availability for successful implementation. The study concludes that differentiated learning is a valuable method for enhancing reading skills in high school students, promoting better educational outcomes and fostering inclusivity

Abstract

Program Desa Mandiri Pangan (Demapan) dirancang untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dan mengurangi ketimpangan akses pangan di wilayah pedesaan. Namun, implementasinya menghadapi sejumlah tantangan, seperti minimnya sosialisasi dari Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian Kabupaten Serang, pelatihan yang belum menjangkau seluruh klaster, serta pendampingan yang kurang aktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas program dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat melalui pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif. Lokasi studi mencakup Desa Panyirapan dan Desa Sidamukti, masing-masing melibatkan 30 responden. Analisis menggunakan teori efektivitas Duncan, dengan indikator pencapaian tujuan, integrasi, dan adaptasi. Hasil menunjukkan efektivitas program sebesar 70,55% di Panyirapan dan 75,12% di Sidamukti. Meskipun berdampak positif, terdapat hambatan seperti ketidaksesuaian fasilitas, rendahnya partisipasi masyarakat, dan kualitas sumber daya manusia yang belum optimal. Banyak anggota kelompok menjadikan pertanian sebagai pekerjaan sampingan. Penulis merekomendasikan peningkatan sosialisasi, pendampingan aktif, serta penguatan infrastruktur desa agar program dapat berjalan lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan.
