Abstract

The study aims to determine the composition and diversity of species in several covers, namely: swamp, secondary swamp forest, swamp shrubs and swamps in the Sebangau National Park area.  The number of plant species found in the three forest communities in the study site was 62 species. The most dominant plant species at almost all growth levels was Tumih (Combretocarpus rotundatus), followed by guava (Syzgium sp.), and Tamehas (Memecylon costatum). Meranti (Shorea sp.) and piais (Nephelium lappaceum L.) species were dominant in the secondary swamp forest community.  The species diversity index with a range of1.24-3.32 and species richness index with a range of 2.63-6.42 in the three types of land cover is classified as medium to high.  The evenness index is classified as high for all growth stages, except for the seedling level in the swamp shrub community which is classified as medium.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of chopstick products and to understand the objectives and quantity of products marketed by UD. Akselerasi. The research was conducted in the city of Palangkaraya. Data collection techniques in this study included interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis used a qualitative descriptive analysis technique. There are several steps in analyzing the data: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that the production process carried out by UD. Akselerasi maintains the quality of chopsticks through a strict series of processes, starting from the selection of raw materials to the finishing stage. White Meranti wood was chosen as the main material due to its suitability for chopstick production. Defective products are sorted and not shipped, and there is a replacement policy for products found to be defective after shipment. This reflects the company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. UD. Akselerasi primarily focuses on chopstick production, with 99% of the total production being exported to Japan. This demonstrates the company's specialization in meeting international market demand, particularly Japan, which is known for its high-quality standards. An effective marketing strategy through social media, exhibitions, and direct visits from buyers also supports strong international market penetration.

Abstract

Peat swamp forests are dominated by local tree types that have economic value, such as ramin, merani, nyatoh and jelutung. Jelutung trees provide benefits in the form of wood and sap, in addition, swamp jelutung is an ideal type for the rehabilitation of peat swamp forests that are resistant to flooded peatlands. Based on the above problems, it is necessary to conduct a study to analyze the relationship between the growth of the diameter and height of the jelutung plant. This research was carried out in 2023 in community jelutung gardens in Palangka Raya City. The method used to study the growth dynamics of jelutung trees is carried out by purposive sampling, namely by selecting and determining jelutung trees based on the age class of jelutung trees with a sampling intensity of ±5% of the area or number of trees. The results of measuring the diameter and height of the tree were analyzed through a correlation regression test displayed in the form of tables and graphs. The results of the study at the location of the jelutung plantation in Bukit Tunggal Village showed that the relationship between the diameter and height of the tree in the farmer's garden 1 had a coefficient interval value of 0.9476 and the relationship between the diameter and height of the tree in the farmer's garden 2 showed a coefficient interval value of 0.9563. while the location of the jelutung plantation in Kalampangan Village showed the relationship between the diameter and height of the jelutung tree in the farmer's garden 1 with a coefficient interval value of 0, 9151, the relationship between the diameter and height of the tree in the farmer's garden 2 was 0.8277 and the relationship between the diameter and height of the tree in the farmer's garden 3, farmer 4 and farmer 5 was 0.79551. This value shows that there is a very strong and positive relationship between the two variables.

Abstract

Monitoring changes in peat swamp forest biodiversity is a necessity for identifying and accounting for the impacts of various factors that cause degradation and deforestation. Information on the condition of this biodiversity can be obtained using Landsat 8 Imagery. This imagery allows for a more efficient, effective, and systematic analysis of changes in vegetation density. This study aimed to assess the dynamic changes in peat swamp forest biodiversity over approximately the last 10 years. The research findings indicate that the rates of degradation and deforestation (16.86%) are higher than the rate of regrowth (6.27%)5. This suggests that the ecosystem's condition is experiencing a significant decline. This decline is characterized by a tendency for the diversity, richness, and evenness of flora species to decrease. The study concludes that the floristic dynamics at the Rungan sub-watershed have declined, which can also affect the existence and habitat of its fauna.

Abstract

Palangka Raya City covers an area of 2,687 km2, with a 2015 workforce dominated by high school graduates (27.7%) and university graduates (27.2%). High school graduates were the most unemployed at 2%, followed by vocational high school graduates at 1.4%, and then university graduates at 1% of the total workforce in 2015. This aligns with the Vision and Mission outlined in the RPJMD (Regional Medium-Term Development Plan), namely: "To realize a city of Palangka Raya that is Advanced, Harmonious, and Prosperous for All and to realize the welfare of the Palangka Raya community through a smart economy, encompassing the development of industry, small and medium enterprises, tourism, and banking." Palangka Raya's flagship products are rattan, wood, batik, and nyatoh resin crafts, which have significant potential for development, particularly to support the synergistic regional tourism industry. The Dayak people, as the indigenous people of Central Kalimantan, live largely along river basins and depend on the natural resources of their surroundings for their livelihood. Their interaction with nature has given rise to a diverse culture reflecting local wisdom. The objective of this activity is to produce nyatoh sap, a non-timber forest product, into typical Dayak souvenirs, including miniature boats, garing sticks, pen holders, key chains depicting Dayak statues, mandau (mandau), talawang (talawang), and hornbills. This activity, held in the Forestry Department, aims to provide students with an understanding of the types of non-timber forest products made from sap, namely nyatoh sap, as well as an introduction to cleaned and colored nyatoh sap, and the process of forming it into souvenirs.
