Abstract

Due to low levels of student engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic, elementary school students suffered significant learning losses, which served as the driving force behind this research. Teachers should be the key to solving problems. This research aims to measure how much influence the competence of professional elementary school teachers has on student engagement in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design and survey method. Data collection was carried out through teacher professional competency and student involvement questionnaires, with data sources coming from elementary school teachers and students in the western, eastern, and central regions of Indonesia. Samples were taken using the cluster random sampling technique. Quantitative data analysis was used with descriptive statistical stages, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and comparative analysis. The results of the hypothesis test also show that professional competence in the aspect of understanding content and understanding the curriculum has a significant influence on student engagement, while in the aspect of understanding student character, it does not have a significant influence. These results make an important contribution to teachers' ongoing professional development. Aspects of content development and curriculum development are recommended as priorities for self-development.

Abstract

Educators are critical facilitators of learning and development in the education system. This study investigates 21st-century teacher competencies in education between 2015 and 2024, analysing publication trends, citation patterns, and their alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study uses bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review methodologies, leveraging data from Dimensions.ai (January 15, 2025) via the PRISMA framework, which yielded 985 data points. Analysis through VOS viewer maps collaboration networks and assesses citation impacts, revealing a consistent rise in publications and citations over the period. Notably, the most cited works appeared in reputable, indexed journals. The bibliometric map identifies eight distinct clusters, with “21st-century skills” as the central theme. Current trends link teacher competencies to key areas such as Digital Competency, TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge), Pre-service Teacher preparation, Communication Skills, and Pedagogical Competence. Findings highlight a strong connection between 21st-century competencies and SDG 4 (Quality Education), underscoring their role in improving global education quality. The study emphasizes the necessity of equipping teachers with these competencies to address modern educational challenges effectively. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative approach to bibliometric and systematic review methods to comprehensively map global research trends and gaps in 21st-century teacher competencies over the past decade.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the physical fitness of grade VI students of Elementary School 2 Kebumen. The method used is quantitative descriptive research with survey methods. The subjects in this study were 23 grade VI students of SD Negeri 2 Kebumen, consisting of 13 students and 10 students. The sampling method uses the total sampling method. Nusantara Student Fitness Test 2022 is a series of TKPN tests consisting of five tests, namely: (1) Body Mass Index Test The purpose of this test is to determine the status of body mass (2) V Sit Reach Test This test aims to measure the flexibility of the back muscles and hamstrings. (3) Sit Up 60s this test aims to measure the strength and endurance of the abdominal muscles. (4) Squat Trust 30 seconds, Squat thrust is a combination movement of changing body position from standing position, squatting then push up position and back standing. The goal is to measure the endurance ability of strength, body control, balance, coordination and agility.and (5) Pacer Test, the Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run (PACER) Test is a progressive aerobic cardiovascular endurance test using alternating cardiovascular endurance at a distance of 20 meters with step speed increasing every minute following a predetermined rhythm. Based on the results of research and discussion, the researchers concluded that the physical fitness level of grade 6 students of State Elementary School 2 Kebumen as measured by TKPN 2022 obtained an average result of 23 students having a "Very Good" physical fitness level. Abstract

This qualitative research analyses the determinants that influence the attitudes of teachers toward integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching-learning. Based on the observation that teacher perception is the success factor of technology enhanced learning, this research would like to identify main drivers and barriers influencing ICT adoption. This study used qualitative methods to gather data, done through semi structured interviews and observing classrooms with 38 teachers of various subjects in different grade levels at a state junior high school in Indonesia and analysed the results thematically relating patterns and connections. Results show that teacher intentions to integrate ICT are affected by three main factors: usefulness, ease of use of digital resources and training in being able to make effective use of such resources, along with support at an infrastructural level. Teachers who attended in-service training and were supported by the institution as they integrated ICT became more self-assured and able to incorporate ICT tools that made it possible for them to be successful teachers. In contrast, obstacles including lack of infrastructure, time limitations and the absence of administrative support were identified as obstacles to successful implementation. The study concludes that enhancing teachers’ positive attitudes toward ICT requires targeted professional development programs, supportive leadership, and equitable resource distribution. These findings have practical implications for schools, teacher education institutions, and policymakers committed to fostering inclusive and sustainable ICT integration within the education system.

This quantitative study involves 370 teachers in secondary schools in the Kedah state which were selected randomly. The findings from the analysis of the study using the smartPLS show that there is a significant relationship between the leadership of technology by principals in school and the effectiveness of teacher-management tasks using computers in management tasks. Leadership that practices high technology leadership features will have a positive impact on the effectiveness of ICT integration within the organization. Further study can be conducted with integrating UTAUT model to identify critical factors that contributing technology leadership in schools.
