Abstract

Coal that is often used in Steam Power Plants is a type of Low Rank Coal (Low Rank Coal) which has a caloric value of 4200 kcal / kg with a moisture content of 40%. Coal with water content that reaches 40% can cause the efficiency process of the plant to be not optimal. Low efficiency values will cause the use of electricity to increase and the combustion process to be incomplete so that it can cause many losses to the Steam Power Plant. From this problem, there needs to be a process of drying coal in order to reduce water content, the technology used in the process of drying coal is coal dryer. Design of coal dryer required source of steam or heat for drying process. Steam Power Plant there is steam waste extraction from turbines that can be used as a heat source to heat coal. If this extraction vapor is utilized, it can reduce the load from the condenser. The amount of turbine extraction steam that can be received by the coal dryer depends on the design of the coal dryer, because the design process of the coal dryer will affect the availability of energy in the coal dryer. This paper will discuss about optimization calculation with genetic algorithm method, to obtain the best design of coal dryer so that the heat received can be maximized so that the drying process becomes faster.

Abstract

This research investigates the electromagnetic field (EMF) characteristics generated by solar power plants, focusing on their potential environmental and health impacts. The study employs a dual methodology combining direct measurements using gaussmeters and computer simulations using COMSOL software to map electromagnetic fields around solar power installation components. Measurements were taken under two conditions: during solar power plant operation and non-operation, to establish comparative baseline data. The research found significant variations in electromagnetic field intensity based on operational status and distance from components, particularly near inverters and cable networks. Results indicate that EMF levels are higher during operation, with field strength decreasing exponentially with distance from the source. These findings contribute to understanding EMF distribution patterns in solar installations and provide valuable insights for implementing appropriate mitigation strategies to ensure safe operation within established exposure standards.

Abstract

UV-C light exposure has been widely applied in food and agriculture to improve product quality, safety, and durability. UV-C light has short wavelengths that are effective in inactivating pathogenic microorganisms in food and plant products, thereby reducing the risk of contamination and extending product shelf life. In agriculture, the application of UV-C light to crops can increase crop resistance to pests and diseases, and stimulate certain physiological responses that support growth.

Abstract

The electromagnetic field on high-frequency radio waves and its impact on signal transmission quality. High-frequency radio waves, used in wireless communication, can be affected by electromagnetic fields from various external sources, such as electronic equipment and building structures. This study analyzes the interaction between electromagnetic fields and radio waves, as well as their impact on transmission speed and signal range. The analysis results show that electromagnetic fields can cause distortion or interference in radio waves, affecting the quality of the received signal. This study provides deeper insights into the importance of managing electromagnetic fields to ensure stability and efficiency in high-frequency radio communication systems. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for the development of communication technology and the mitigation of electromagnetic interference on radio waves.

Abstract

One of the most seismically active countries in the world is Indonesia. One of the few countries located in the Southeast Asian Seismic Zone is Indonesia. It is difficult to predict when and how an earthquake will occur as earthquakes are natural events. Various studies on earthquake precursors have been conducted with different results. The purpose of this paper is to examine the calculation of earthquakes using electromagnetic and seismic beats. To compile this article, we used the literature study method from various relevant national and international journals. The results concluded that, electromagnetic waves are easily excited even by weak seismic vibrations in the earth's crust, and they can be identified easily both above and below the ground surface.

Abstract

Electromagnetic waves in 5G transmission in Indonesia, a cellular network based on electromagnetic waves, which has revolutionized wireless communications. This wireless technology is more advanced than previous wireless technologies (1G, 2G, 3G and 4G). Electromagnetic waves are a type of electromagnetic radiation consisting of electric and magnetic fields moving simultaneously. 5G operates at a higher frequency than previous cellular technologies. The relationship between 5G signals and electromagnetic waves and their impact on signal performance and range. Here we discuss how 5G operates at higher frequency ranges, including millimeter wave (mmWave), which offers very high data speeds and large capacities. 5G technology is a fifth generation wireless communication network that offers faster data speeds, lower latency, and greater connection capacity compared to previous generations. Of particular concern is the impact of the electromagnetic fields (EMF) generated by this technology on the environment and human health. 5G technology uses higher frequencies in the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, reaching 24 to 100 GHz, in addition to low to medium frequencies also used by 4G networks. Research has shown that the electromagnetic field of 5G technology has different properties, such as shorter wavelengths so that the penetration depth into living tissue is smaller.
