Abstract

Abstract

This study is based on the constraints found in the field regarding the science learning process in junior high schools. Learning activities oriented towards contextual learning and students' creative thinking skills have not been implemented optimally. Creative thinking skills can be implemented by developing them through video learning media based on Contextual Teaching Learning. This study aims to determine the level of validation of video learning media based on Contextual Teaching Learning on the theme of my polluted environment to develop the creative thinking skills of junior high school students. The method used is Research & Development (with the 4D model), namely the define, design, development and dissemination stages. The development stage shows the results of the validity of video learning media based on contextual teaching learning on the theme of my polluted environment to develop the creative thinking skills of junior high school students that based on validation by material experts, the percentage value is obtained 88,40%  In the category "Very valid", expert validation by media experts obtained a percentage value of 81,67% In the category "Very Valid" And practitioner validation obtained a percentage value of 93,33% % in the category "Very valid". The results of the validity level of the learning video media product reached a percentage value of 87,80 % in the category “Very valid”.

Abstract

Current environmental problems are often referred to as the triple planetary crisis, where this phenomenon refers to three environmental problems, namely climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. This phenomenon occurs because of the lack of public concern for the environment. In the midst of the environmental issue phenomenon, a person must be able to protect the environment, the most effective way to produce a generation that cares about the environment can start from the world of education. Based on observations and interviews that have been carried out, the current ecoliteracy skills of students are still not optimal, so this study aims to describe the results of validation from experts and readability tests by students on the development of ecoliteracy-based pocket books for junior high school students in grade VII on the material of interactions between living things and the environment. This study uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) development model, implemented at a Public Junior High School in Serang City with a sample of 30 grade VII students. The analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively with the results of the study showing that ecoliteracy-based pocket books have a "very valid" level of validity. Validation by experts obtained a percentage of 84% and readability test with a percentage of 88%. Based on the results, the developed teaching materials are considered very valid, so they are worthy of being used for the learning process and further testing on a wider scale.

Abstract

Lack of student understanding of learning materials often results in low learning outcomes. Therefore, selecting the right learning model is an important factor in achieving learning objectives, because it can help students understand the material more deeply. One approach that is considered effective and innovative is the Learning Cycle Type 7E model. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Learning Cycle Type 7E model on students' critical thinking skills on the concept of Changes in Substances in Daily Life. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design, which was carried out in one of the Public Junior High Schools in Serang City. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, consisting of 36 students in the experimental class and 36 students in the control class. Data collection was carried out using a test instrument in the form of HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills) questions that had passed validity and reliability tests. The results showed that the application of the Learning Cycle Type 7E model had a significant effect on improving the critical thinking skills of eighth grade students on the concept of changes in substances in daily life. Based on the results of the Independent Sample T-Test, a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of <0.001 was obtained, which is smaller than 0.05. In addition, the results of Group Statistics show that the average pre-test score of the experimental class was 37.54, while the control class was 34.78. Meanwhile, the average post-test score of the experimental class reached 41.51, higher than the control class which obtained an average of 36.59. These findings indicate that the Learning Cycle Type 7E model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.
