Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara peran orang tua dengan prestasi belajar siswa SMA. Secara spesifik, penelitian ini menggambarkan seberapa tinggi tingkat peran orang tua dan prestasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Agama Kristen dan korelasi atau hubungan antara keduanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan penggunaan analisis statistika deskriptif dan korelasional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sebuah SMA yang terletak di Kelurahan Airmadidi Bawah, Kecamatan Airmadidi, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara, Sulawesi Utara. Populasi yang diteliti ialah siswa kelas 12 IPA dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 56 siswa yang berpartisipasi dalam pengambilan data. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah sebuah kuesioner yang diisi oleh responden secara luring. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran orang tua dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa tergolong tinggi. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa tingkat prestasi belajar agama siswa termasuk pada kategori cukup. Yang terakhir, terdapat korelasi positif yang signifikan antara peran orang tua dan prestasi belajar anak mereka. Kata kunci—peran orang tua, prestasi belajar siswa, mata pelajaran Agama Kristen Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the role of parents and the learning achievement of high school students. Specifically, this study describes how high the level of parental role and student learning achievement in Christian subjects is and the correlation or relationship between the two variables. This research used a quantitative approach with the use of descriptive and correlational statistical analysis. This research was conducted at a high school located in Airmadidi Bawah Village, Airmadidi District, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. The population studied was 12th grade science students with a total of 56 respondents who participated in data collection. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire filled out by respondents offline. The results showed that the role of parents in improving student learning achievement was high. In addition, it was found that the student's religious learning achievement level fell into the category of sufficient. Finally, there is a significant positive correlation between the role of parents and their children's learning achievement. Abstract

The use of English song lyrics to improve students' English language skills at the elementary level is interesting to be investigated. This quantitative-descriptive research illustrates the benefits that Airmadidi Adventist Elementary School students can gain through learning using English song lyrics. By involving 60 sixth grade elementary school students as respondents, data was collected through a questionnaire regarding the use of song lyrics which was distributed to students. Data analysis was carried out using statistical means of average values ​​and the results obtained showed that the use of English song lyrics during learning was useful in improving listening skills, the ability to pronounce vocabulary accurately and correctly, as well as the ability to increase students' vocabulary. With the results obtained, it can be concluded that learning English becomes more optimal if it is accompanied by using English song lyrics in learning. That is why, it is recommended for English subject teachers to integrate the use of English song lyrics when teaching subject matter because of the benefits students can get in improving their ability to listen and pronounce English vocabulary, and even increase their vocabulary.

Abstract

This quantitative study aimed to determine the relationship between classroom learning activities and reading comprehension of the students who were registered at a secondary school.  This study utilized the descriptive correlational research design.  A self-constructed instrument was used for this study and convenience sampling method was applied in gathering the data. Respondents were asked to rate each statement for classroom learning activities inventory by using a five-point Likert scale. Frequency, percentage, and mean were used to determine the level of each variable.  Meanwhile, to find out the relationship between variables, Pearson Product Moment was utilized.  It was found out that the extent of classroom learning activities (M =3.93) experienced by the students was on ‘high’ level, and student’s reading comprehension (M = 82.25) was on ‘high’ level as well.  Moreover, the results showed that significant relationships occurred between classroom learning activities (r = .946, p = .00 < α = 0,05) and student’s reading comprehension.  In conclusion, students’ reading comprehension significantly related to what classroom learning activities they experienced.

Abstract

Interaksi guru-siswa yang baik penting bagi peningkatan minat belajar siswa.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan apakah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara interaksi guru-siswa dan minat belajar pada mata pelajaran Ekonomi di kelas X SMA Advent Unklab. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif-korelatif dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling sehingga terkumpul 78 responden.  Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner tentang interaksi guru-siswa dan minat belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat interaksi guru-siswa selama pembelajaran berada pada kategori tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata 3,71. Sementara itu, minat belajar siswa juga berada pada kategori tinggi dengan nilai rata- rata 3,56. Analisis korelasi Pearson Correlation menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara interaksi guru dengan siswa dan minat belajar siswa p=,003>.05, dengan nilai korelasi r = 0,336. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin baik interaksi antara guru dan siswa, semakin tinggi minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Ekonomi.  Diperlukan upaya pengembangan kemampuan guru dalam membangun komunikasi kelas yang efektif, baik lewat pelatihan maupun penambahan keterampilan secara mandiri, mengingat kontribusi positif yang dapat diberikan bagi peningkatan minat belajar siswa.

Abstract

The lack of student involvement during the learning process is thought to be related to the communication between teachers and students that is not well established. This descriptive-quantitative research aims to prove whether teacher’s interpersonal communication has a significant relationship with students’ learning engagement in English subjects. To answer the research questions, the researcher first determined the Mean Score of each variable and then used it as a basis for determining its relationship. The respondents for this study were 83 students at Airmadidi Adventist Elementary School in grade 5 who took English Subject. The results of the analysis of the data obtained show that the English teacher exhibited the good interpersonal communication (M=4.35) and students practiced active involvement in learning (M=4.22). In addition, by using Pearson Correlation Product Moment, the results showed that there was a significant relationship between teacher’s interpersonal communication and students’ learning involvement in English subjects, with the value of p=0.00<0.05. Based on the results obtained, it is recommended that teacher should be more active in carrying out interpersonal communication with students to trigger student learning involvement during English learning.

Abstract

The aim of this quantitative study was to determine the relationship between parents’ involvement during science online learning of Junior High School students and their learning outcome. Researchers constructed a questionnaire about parents’ involvement. The questionnaire was distributed to 56 VII grade students at Adventist Junior High School in Airmadidi. Students’ learning outcome in Science Subject was collected from the subject teacher. This study found out that students often experienced their parents’ involvement by guiding them in online learning, with the Mean Score is 3.64. The level of students’ learning outcome in Science Subject was good, since the Mean Score is 85.75. This study also proved that there is a significant relationship between parents’ involvement during online learning and students’ learning outcome in Science Subject with p = .009. This means that the null hypothesis which stated there was no significant relationship between parents’ involvement during online learning of Junior High School students and their learning outcome is rejected
